Main reason why I choose this hotel was the tenis court. Classes cost per hour was us$13 e.g trainer, boy to pick up the balls and court use. The service is very personal e.g. lots of staff available. Very big hotel areas. Bed was a bit hard and internet signals is not always steady in the whole room.

staff was extremely helpful and friendly. very quiet during my stay. room service (food) was very good and professional. balcony was huge! a/c was really cold. (had to turn it down) internet signal was constant but a little slower than i'm used to. no problems with hot water in the sink or shower during my stay, but they only provide a shampoo sized […] bottle of body wash instead of soap which doesn't lather very well. as with other reviews, hotel could use an update. they still have 19" tube TV's and furniture & carpet are very old. overall, a very peaceful stay. i would return to and also recommend this hotel. Funny thing is, this hotel does not have king size beds on the "normal" floors. So couples are supposed to sleep in separate beds ?!? There are only a few king size bedrooms on the executive floor and price of these rooms is almost double, being the room the same as others. Daily cleaning of the room was miserable, they spent average of 5 minutes for […] cleaning- and the rest of the time they would have fun (hotel was almost empty). Bathrooms were dirty all the time. In 2 ocasions late evening we didn't have hot water- had to wait for more then 1 hour to take shower. Staff mostly polite but not that helpful. Breakfast not bad but they never change it so if you stay longer might become boring. Food/ drinks very expensive. They charge for the ice ! Expect noisy weekends. The reality is that my husband and I were very disappointed with the hotel and hotel conditions. When I look for this hotel in the webside of you indicates that it is a 4 star hotel. This hotel does not even keep even a 2 star hotel, really seemed an insult and a lie to what they show on their website.

The decor is beautiful and one gets a sense that it is cozy and warm. However, the bathroom fixtures were rusted. More importantly, you could hear the plumbing ie other rooms' toilets flushing etc. It made it difficult to rest.

This is a charming hotel with wonderful public spaces. The restaurant was very good. There was a wonderful covered area outside perfect for drinks and reading a good book. I loved the cleanliness and the restaurant's food was very good, if slightly overpriced (a regular meal was some $30.00 without wine or any other beverages, which is steep for the usual fares in the country, but of course, hotels tend to be more expensive). This hotel is well maintained and very elegant. The food is excellent and the staff is very cordial. I stayed here before 22 years ago when adopting my daughter. Returned this year with my daughter and found the hotel to be pretty much the same, understated elegance, old style Spanish hacienda type decor. Lovey pool.

My first stay in this Hotel, was in 1976 and we you walk around not much has change, still is beautiful place. Unfortunately the bathroom in the Hotel have never being remodel and the checkout process is not up to the speed and needs of the clientele.

If you want to stay far from the city center, and close to other hotels, you may want to stay at Hotel Santo Domingo. I had a bad time trying to get around, since this hotel is not located close to the Zona Colonial, neither the downtown area. You must take a taxi to get around, and you must be ready to pay 12 dollars and much more, depending on where […] you're going. Also, if you are on a business trip, don't stay at Hotel Santo Domingo, since the internet conection is so slow, you will get older waiting for a connection. Speaking about some good things, the staff is willing to help you and the buffet for breakfast and lunch is OK, although they tend to have the same menu and also it is not very healthy (lots of calories). So, speaking about price-quality, I would say it is too expensive and not worthy. You may want to stay somewhere else for the same price or even cheaper, and I'm sure you'll get something better. This is my choice when I travel to Santo Domingo for so many reasons. Good location, does not have a casino (casinos not always attract people you want around your hotel), very good breakfast, taxi service (independent drivers) at any time, nice pool, helipad, GOOD PRICE, excellent executive area.

If you go for business make sure you register a second person, if not, the security won't allow anyone to go in the room with you. Front Desk people are very rude and uncooperative. Rooms are dirty and old and not hot water in the shower unless you do it a 5 am. Pool area is dirty and so the pool. Terrible experience not worthy the money.
