Overall it was good. Was disappointed at the lack of service for the guest by the security patrol. A security patrol car was parked in the only lane leading out from the check in entrance, which was not moved for 36 hours in spite of me complaining about it (for safety reasons) at the service desk. Our room was nice. Our television kept having to be reset, as it would not work every time we turned it on! We decided to try the hotel restaraunt, thinking it would be good. "If you have to bring your dog it's a great hotel"
My husband and I were both disappointed with the bed; too firm. The hotel claims that you can adjust the firmness in the mattress but it did not seem to change at all. Also, the dial that is supposed to adjust the mattress is at the head of the bed making it quite difficult to access, since the bed has 2 night tables extremely close to the bed. They […] should relocate the dials or get a handheld unit, and make sure it works. We also had to call three times to get our room service order and nothing was done to compensate for the annoyance. The televisions were really nice flat screens, (2 in the junior suite.) The hotel is pet friendly and my dog loved the place and slept like a log. The tub is a joke because it is a two person jacuzzi type tub but it would take your entire stay to fill it with water because of the "dribble" you get out of the faucet, and it's hard to get in and out of if you are older or handicapped in any way. I have arthritis and would have preferred a walk in shower. It's time to renovate. They are currently add additional rooms. I hope they modernize and make it worth the price. My Fantastic Hotel Experience I stayed, recently, at The Hilton Gardden Inn on Staten Island, N.Y. It was elegant yet personal. Upon entering I was greeted warmly and reassured that while it was 9PM and I had not called around 6PM to confirm my room, they had my room waiting. The clerk at the desk was cheerful and explained what I needed to know. An […] employee helped me understand the new passkey entrance procedure so I could get into my room. Everything was explained via programs or brochures. I slept beautifully after noting a microwave, a coffemaker, a refrigerator, storage room for food. I was grateful for no tempting mini-bar with its high prices. I awoke to a quiet room, having heard no noise throughout the night, despite a wedding and a separate party going on in both huge rooms downstairs. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HUMILITATED IN ALL MY LIFE. I HAVE TRAVEL TO MANY DIFFERENT PLACES DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY RACISM EVER. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PARTICULAR HILTON LOCATION TO ANYONE. WE REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A MANAGER ON SITE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
