"a unique oasis"
Do yourself a favor and book this hotel for your Rome stay. It is uniquely decorated, charming, a wonderful garden courtyard entrance. It was the best thing during my 5 week European vacation. The room was good size, nicely decorated, the breakfast excellent, use of the internet in their lobby, but the best part was the helpfulness of the reception […] employees and owners. Mom and I had a few problems with our travel plans and they helped us way beyond what anyone would expect. I love , love, love this hotel. We chose it for its location near the train station. We were very disappointed with our first room which had concrete floor showing in one corner and was not clean. A serious complaint resulted in a change to a better room the next morning. Both rooms were quite small and had maintenance problems. There were extremely garish amateur paintings throughout. Breakfast was average in a pleasant room of this […] old building. The location was good and the price low. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I expected"
Let me just preface this review by saying this is the first time I've travelled in Europe, so maybe much of this is common. But it's not what I'm used to or expected from a so called four star hotel. First of all, everything is small. The room is small, about 9 feet by 15 feet. No desk and no room for luggage which had to sit on the floor. The bathroom […] was okay, although again very small. The shower had a nice high rainfall shower head but unfortunately the shower itself was only about 30 inches wide so you could not get out of the way of the water to lather up. There is a safe in the room but you could not use it until you went back down to the front desk to get the key. Also the room was noisy from the front courtyard. There was supposed to be internet in the room but it did not work even after bringing it to the attention of management. Fortunately there was a computer available in the common area but even that did not work all the time. I suppose the air conditioner in the room technically worked, however it would take about 10 hours to cool off the room. It didn't help that the cleaning crew would turn it off each day so each day we would return to a hot, stuffy room and no chance for it to cool off before bedtime. Breakfast was okay. Same thing every day - undercooked bacon and scrambled eggs, yogurt, some bread and pastries. There was a bowl of fresh fruit which was nice. Anyway would not return or recommend this hotel. This is not the typical hotel you'll expect to see in rome.. very strange decoration, ranging from an empty red-bird cage to some plants mixed with strange souvenirs.. it's like POP art or something like that. We were greeted by the receptionist late evening, he arranged our registration and we headed to the room. The elevator is TINY. We could barely […] fit ourselves (2 adults) and our luggage inside. The rooms were also small, considering the price we paid we thought it would be bigger. There was a strange painting above our bed.. very eclectic.. Breakfast was OK, basic continental one with bread, coffee, some muffins, etc. We thought the metro line was very close to the hotel, but we were wrong. It takes about 10 mins of walking to reach a metro, and streets are very confusing sometimes. To be honest, we did not like how it was decorated. The neighborhood is not attractive either, and it's not at a walking distance from Termini. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Emona Aquaeductus-near main train station"
We chose this hotel because of it's location to the train station. We had only a 12 hour stop over and wanted an easy walk back and forth from the trains. It was about an 8 block walk. No real sites around the neighboorhood. Very nice staff, excellent breakfast, and close to a few restraunts. Would stay again for trains, but not for attractions unless […] you want to take the metro to everything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was a little off the beaten path which was nice as it was quite. It is only 5 -10 min walk to the subway and has supermarkets nearby for cheap food and drinks. Small but clean and nice rooms with a great breakfast and very nice staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Emona Aquaeductus, Rome gorgeous, unique"
This is a beautiful hotel full of ecletic art work and furnighings. The staff was very friendly & helpful, the breakfast superb. My only complaint was the bed was hard. The room and bathroom were small up adequate size, the view onto the aqueduct great. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We looked for a room at the very last minute and where not willing to pay the high prices in Room. We blindly selected the deal because of the price and the Enoma was the hotel offered. We were very satisfied with the hotel given we did not have a chance to view it before expedia gave us the name. Only downside there were not as many restaurants in […] the area. "Nice surprise - Hotel Emona Aquaeductus"
Accidentally booked this hotel (someone else in our party had made other arrangements) and could not cancel - so we decided to enjoy a night on our own (vs the shared apartment) and found it delightful. The staff was very friendly, communication was no problem, breakfast included a wide variety of flavors and all was fresh & hot/cold like it should […] be! Internet service is available in the lobby/lounge area, I could not get it to work in our room, but I only tried once. I was traveling with two 14 year old girls, and we went less than a block for dinner at a delightful tiny restaurant and had good (though a bit slow) service, wonderful pastas and shared a tiramisu for dessert. The hotel is very close to the metro station, and in a nice area. I highly recommend it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The surrounding neighborhood isn't bad, but it's a ways away from most of the things to see. A short walk to the metro gets you there quickly, but there's not a lot of places to eat right around the hotel. Minor inconveniences for a clean hotel, friendly staff, and inexpensive.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was very small, smelly. The condition of the hotel pretty old, is not a 4* hotel this hotel only worth a 2* stars rating. This hotel near resident, dog poops every where, you can hear dog pakrs in the middle of the night. Break Fast suppose to service from 7:30 to 10:00 but wasn't ready until 7:45. Lift very small, can only fit one person with […] a small luggage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Emona Aquaeductus I do appreciate and respect the comments written by our guests about our hotel, even if sometime we do not fully share their points of view. All our Standard rooms, smaller than the Superior ones, are comfortable as well having Qeen/King beds, a board for clothing, frigobar, desk with TV and regular bathroom. For the smell I do apologise, even if it might result unusual to us according to our daily cleaning procedure which foresees that maids shall open the windows to change the room air, every day and in every room. We deliberatly choosed not to touch the external walls of our Liberty Palazzetto while have dedicated a lot of care in restoring all the internal part of it, modernizing it in addition with the installation of Wi-fi system and a modern lift, tailor made and projected to accommodate a disable wheel chair or a maximum of five standing persons. The Hotel Emona Aquaeductus has received from the Official Tourist Agency for Rome the 4* stars rating, thanks to the fulfilment of the many important requirements in particular, large common areas, two security exits, certified fire alarm system and typical historical characteristic. It is correct that Breakfast is suppose to service from 7:30 to 10:00 and that, probably I believe, " bacon & eggs" wasn't ready until 7:45, I beg your pardon for the inconvenience and I assure that I will put more attention not to delay the service for the future. I could not agree more with your "Getting around", I'm glad that finally we are able to completely share a common point of view.
The staff was extremely welcoming and polite. Maria was my absolute favorite, not only does she speak 5 languages but she truly was always there to help you out. The hotel itself is charming, I enjoyed all the unique art and the room itself was nice and simple. Everything in the room worked fine (minus the remote giving us a hard time here and there). […] The breakfast is a great accommodation, not only do you save plenty of money but it's actually quite good, especially in hotel standards where a croissant and coffee is as far as they go. We walked all but one day because public transportation is extremely crowded! Walking, you have the Colloseum about 15 mins away (and it's really simply to get there), Vatican City took us about 45 mins and everything else was in-between that time frame. Great place! This is not a large hotel by any means. And it's a bit off the beaten path. It's maybe a 12 minute walk from the coloseum. But the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and the staff is excellent. Andrea was quite helpful with restaurants, parking, and suggestions of places to visit. The breakfast was ample and the entryway was picture perfect. "A real gem of a hotel"
We stayed at this hotel for ten days in November. We found the location to be excellent, in a neighbourhood that is historically very interesting. It is only a short walk from the hotel to either a metro or bus stop. A short walk will take you to the colleseum. The hotel itself is charming, with a beautiful courtyard and lobby. The hotel staff members […] were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to provide advice on what to see and how to get there. The excellent breakfast provided each morning was tasty, nutritious and filling. We would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and we have always enjoyed it. The rooms are average size and very clean. The staff is always helpful and available. The location is close th the metro station and a bus stop hub. The breakfast is good with the usual items plus they have bacon and eggs. Highly recommend this hotel. They recently up-graded […] the entry area which is very nice. We like to have the windows open at night which created a small problem. The guest and staff used the courtyard as a smoking area. The smell would enter the room at times. If you're like us and the smell bothers you ask not to be in rooms 14 or 15. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good condition and friendly hotel"
We liked this hotel as the staffs were very friendly and helpful. Also, the room was clean and hotel provide good breakfast. Hotel also provides free internet connection. Take taxi to the hotel was OK and only $12 euro from central train station. However, walking to or from train station in the dark is not recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Colisseum"
This was our first stop in Italy and it was not a disappointment. It was close to the metro and the subway was easy to manuever. It was also an easy walk over to the Colisseum. It offered a good breakfast, had a friendly staf, and the internet had a fast speed. The lobby was lovely and gave a great first impression. The hotel did have some downfalls […] though. The television in the room had no channels in English. It also had two single beds pushed together that rolled apart whenever we moved around too much. These beds were also rock solid and were no good for my back. Also there was no information provided in the room regarding the hotel or the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great place to stay in Rome"
I stayed here with my mother, sister and boyfriend. We had 2 double rooms and both were very nice. The decorations of the hotel were eclectic and pleasing and breakfast was the best of any we had in Italy. There is a short walk from the metro which was no problem, and Im sure wouldnt be bad for anyone with large bags either because there were no stairs […] or anything to climb along the way. The staff was able to direct us to some nearby restaurants that werent in "tourist" areas, and were a lot cheaper than in the city center. There were busses within a couple of blocks that brought us to the catacombs, making all of the sights very accessible. The one problem for anyone with heavy luggage is that the elevator was broken and did not look like there were plans to repair it anytime soon. Otherwise, I would absolutely stay here again. "Pleasant Stay had at the Emona Aquaductus"
We stayed for three nights at this hotel in Feb. Everything was very good apart from the 3 euro city tax that is extra per person per night. The rooms are a little small but are well maintained and full of art works. In fact the entire hotel is packed with antiques which made it really interesting. It was a pleasure playing cards in the main lounge. […] The breakfasts are good with good service. The location at the tram terminus gives easy access to the sites. "A very unsatisfying stay!!"
The hotel was sold to us a 'secret hotel' next to the Central Rome train station (Roma Termini), but, it was a 7-10 minute tram ride or 15-20 minute walk from the station, which was not an auspicious start to our stay! Pro's: - A five minute walk to 'Manzoni' metro station on the B line, with a direct link to most major sights Con's: - Breakfast […] was very disappointing with barely any options and very insipid service. We had one person minding the buffet when there were about 20 guests at the tables, which resulted in most items vanishing from the buffet, never to return - The room's heating was a major problems with the thermostat stuck at one setting 'Very hot'.. We had to open both the windows in the room to get any sort of sleet (in December..)! - The water in the bathroom had a mind of its own, switching from hot to cold to hot again. - The hotel, though it claims to be a '4 star' hotel, had no business center/ printing facilities, which resulted in me having to go in search of an internet cafe for over an hour at 9 PM at night to book our voucher for the Vatican museum tour. - The internet in the room was a nightmare with the wifi signal being so weak, that we had to sit up in the bed and hold up the ipad get any signal on it and even when we did get a signal, the speeds were barely at a dial-up modem level. Rated four star, however i would say only 2 stars. Old mansion, converted into hotel with very very small rooms and badly decorated. Stale b'fast that is repeated day after day without any changes in the menu. Balcony rooms are most troubled due to street noise that doesnt die down even in late night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"OK stay but NOT 4*"
We booked this hotel under a 'secret deal' claiming 4 star design hotel. It is not worth 4 stars! I would say 3 stars. Rooms are very very small, barely any room each side of the bed, bathroom also very small. You could argue that in Rome you don't spend much time in the room, but even so, you could not swing a cat. Bed was hard and small (double). […] Worst thing to be honest was the noise from the road. Heavy traffic all the time and even with windows shut you can hear it quite clearly. Pleasant outdoor courtyard space. Interesting reception/downstairs, unusual art, quite liked it. Breakfast ok though scrambled eggs were always cold (could do with a candle or something under the silver tin/tray to keep warm)! Do ask for a latte macchiato or other type of coffee if you want it as kitchen staff oblige. Guy on front desk when I arrived rather surly and not very helpful! The other 2 staff on front desk quite pleasant. Overall ok stay but wouldn't go back, we'd look for something else preferably where we could sleep more comfortably with no noise! This is a 4 star hotel, but it does not feel like one. The hotel is very neglected. There were a lot of broken things, especially in our bathroom. The light was hardly hanging on the wall, the shower was broken and dirty, covered with mildew, there was a vent that was missing 2 of the screws, so it was hanging just on two others partially down. The […] room was big with tall ceilings, but relatively basic. Again, the hotel seemed very neglected and the staff was ok, but relatively cold and flat. "medium quality hotel."
The location was not too bad, the staff seemed ok but I didn't have much to do with them. My only questions was if I could change rooms as my bed was so hard & uncomfortable but the the hotel was full so no I couldn't. So, that brings me onto the room, technically it was four star but pushing that. The bed was so hard I had a bad back after sleeping. […] The curtains and blinds were broken so I could not open them so spent the whole weekend in semi darkness. and the general air was faded and a bit worn. The wi fi only worked in the lobby. The breakfast was good, it's a 20 min walk from the Colosseum and the lobby reception was bright and comfortable. It's not the worst hotel I have stayed in but I wouldn't necessarily go back. "no more than 3 stars, not mention 4 stars"

"Wouldnt go back"
Positives - The young girl who served breakfast was very pleasant and very helpfull. There was also another blonde female who worked in reception who was lovely however apart from that we found the staff quite unpleasant and abrupt. We had a superior room which was a good size for being in a city. It was a short 10 min walk to the underground station. Free […] internet. Fridge in your room. Decent aircon. Negatives - We were greeted by the last guests pubic hair in the bathtub upon arrival!! The maids didnt really clean your room daily they made your bed and gave you clean towels but didnt take away dirty glasses or cups. The dishes at breakfast were not clean. There is not anything to do nearby the hotel at nightime however the tube station is a 10 min walk if you want to go back into the centre. We asked if there was a secure room to keep our luggage after check out the guy on reception then tried to hide our cases in the already cluttered reception area behind a couch however when informed this was not suitable he then put them in his office. "Good value hotel, but rooms are small."
Except for one of the receptionists, the entire staff were amazing! It is a decent hotel for the price, and is located within a 5-10 minute walk to a metro station. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant which made our stay all the nicer. Breakfast was lovely and the atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxing. Although rated at as a 4 star hotel, I would say it is more like a 3 star. A lot of effort has gone into the ground floor of the hotel, but the garden area could do with a tidy up. Also in the room - […] someone with a screwdriver tightening up fittings etc would make a differenc to the overall impression. We had a 3 month old baby with us.
