I found the service at the front desk helpful and friendly. However, the room I stayed in (#257) was terribly noisy as it was directly above the "smoking area" outside. I was awakened numerous times in the night and into the early morning. Furthermore, the wireless internet was so slow that the desk agent had to provide a modem.

Not sure if I would stay again. I found it very outdated and not too clean. Found a centipede and a beetle in our room. Found hair in one of the beds. A little overpriced for the quality of the hotel.

Conveniently located and easy to find. Staff were friendly and the room was nice. Within walking distance, about 2 km, from West Edmonton Mall and right along Stony Plain Road, which is perfect if you're heading West towards Banff or Jasper in the Morning. There was hair (from the previous guest I assume) in the sheets of one bed. Luckily, it was just […] me so I stayed in the other bed, which appeared clean. The bed was comfortable, but the bedspread had cigarette burns in it (it was a smoking room, but still). I had to crawl under a table, between two chairs, in order to turn off the AC. Lacking in some of the conveniences you expect in a hotel these days, namely a mini fridge, which is amplified when the pop machine is out of order. I had a room across the hall from the ice machine, and it was still quiet at night. If your room is located on the west side of the hotel don't expect to sleep in, as 178th gets pretty busy and noisy. Read more

I have booked many times online and must say, this hotel was the noisiest ever! People running up and down the halls ALL HOURS, beer bottles on the ground in the parking lot etc... The room was not clean the toilet top was dusty, floor was not vacum, over all the room was not clean compare to others i've stay in before. They don't gave you stamp for the days you stay on the reward cards too. So no i was not satisfy with the room, i'll never stay there again.

This isnt a Marriot but a good place for family to stay and unwind while visiting West Edmonton sites. We stay here for the easy access to attractions - and the indoor atrium pool. The attached Denny's is handy too. Good job keeping the hotel appearance updated. Room 257 was so disappointing. Underneath the room there is an entrance from the alley way where lots of visitors would stand and chat loudly until late at night, making it a challenge to sleep. We stayed in the sandman for my fiancees birthday, they said it was pet friendly but i definetly is not. My fiancee dropped our pets off at the hotel and then went to the mall for 30 min, she received a call saying to return to the hotel or we would be charged extra due to the pets making noise. She returned right away and we still got charged more […] than what we payed to stay the night there. Plus the room was crowded full of furnature and an old TV. Not comfortable at all. We never slept al night because you could hear people walking up and down the stairs and slamming the doors all night long.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and think people should know it is not pet friendly no matter what they say. The lobby is beautiful but that's all this hotel has to offer. We had to go up three different sets of stairs all throughout the hotel just to find our room. It was sort of a maze to get to it. When we got to our room it was freezing cold and the thermostat didn't have any temperatures on it so you just had to guess when turning the dial how hot it […] was going to be. By the middle of the night our room felt like a sauna. And turning it down only made it freezing cold by the morning. Stayed in a non smoking room that stunk like smoke, had all our belongings stinking like smoke and sore throats from it too. We could hear every word from room next to us the entire time. The Denny's had great service and food and the lobby was beautiful which is very deceiving to the rest of the hotel.

The lobby is warm & inviting as were the front desk staff. It is great to have two restaurants on site. The rooms were nice but the beds were soft and had formed dips in the mattress on the sides by the night stand. Carpets and walls could be cleaner in the hallways. I would certainly stay here again.

First of all upon check-in, we were put in a smoking/pet room. My reservation was for a non-smoking room. After mentioning this, we were than transfered to the third floor (no elevators). The lobby is kept in great condition. However once you get your room key and start walking down the hallway you'll see that the carpet looks like it's been pieced together by children, and is dirty looking. We basically stayed there for a place to recover from West Edmonton Mall which can be overwhelming on a busy Saturday. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area and a very quick drive to the mall. The hotel and rooms were decent but a little outdated and we could smell the smokers rooms on the 2nd floor hallway. Has a nice central pool and hot tub as […] well as an excersise room. The Lobby is probably the nicest/newest part of the hotel. It's also pretty cool that a Denny's and a Chop Steakhouse was attached for conveinient dinning although Chop is pretty high on the menu prices. So don't expect too much and you'll be content. If its just a place to sleep then its fine cause you will have your eyes closed. But for the rooms not that wonderful very out of date TV is old patio door to the pool would not lock, Key cards thats just a joke. Don't waste your time there.

A few concerns: 1. Front desk could have greeted customers in a more friendly way. 2. Bathroom door was difficult to close 3. Club coffee was not replaced/refilled without customer's reminding. 4. No shower cap provided. 5. No flat screen TV. 6. No fridge/freezer.

The Sandman was an ok hotel. Lots of renovations but not the rooms. The pool and court yard are nice. It is located in a good area, close to lots of stuff.
