I've used this hotel numerous times. It's good for the price you pay with Hotels.com.

Conveniently located and easy to find. Staff were friendly and the room was nice. Within walking distance, about 2 km, from West Edmonton Mall and right along Stony Plain Road, which is perfect if you're heading West towards Banff or Jasper in the Morning. There was hair (from the previous guest I assume) in the sheets of one bed. Luckily, it was just […] me so I stayed in the other bed, which appeared clean. The bed was comfortable, but the bedspread had cigarette burns in it (it was a smoking room, but still). I had to crawl under a table, between two chairs, in order to turn off the AC. Lacking in some of the conveniences you expect in a hotel these days, namely a mini fridge, which is amplified when the pop machine is out of order. I had a room across the hall from the ice machine, and it was still quiet at night. If your room is located on the west side of the hotel don't expect to sleep in, as 178th gets pretty busy and noisy. Read more

Aweful experience, will never go there again.

Not at all impressed. First put in to a room right beside an active construction site, so had to move to third floor. No elevators. Wireless internet is slower than dial up and often lost connection when I needed it most. Shampoo and conditioner bottles in the washroom were half used! Gross! Never go back again. Beware.

The hotel was wonderful! The pool area was just gorgeous!! The fitness room was great as well, with a beautiful view of the pool. The rooms were a bit outdated, but very clean. It was very close to the West Edmonton mall which is where we were visiting. I would stay there again.

The only place that I've stayed that was worse was the Rainforest Exhibit at the Calgary Zoo as part of a Girl Guide field trip! I could not believe the amount of noise in this hotel. People were partying, yelling, running up and down the hallways, slamming doors... I was awake until 4 am. Front desk had little to say about it other than "it's the group […] we have here". Awful. I'd never go back. Great service from hotels.com, however! We decided there was no way we'd have a second night there as was booked and a refund was issued. Read more

The hotel was very close to West Edmonton mall and easy to find. There were also many food options nearby. The bed wasn't as comfortable as some I've slept in but overall the room was nice.

The rooms were very small and did not have a refrigerator. The rooms were also very dated. However, we LOVED the convenient pool location. We had a first floor room, that over looked the pool. The kids loved that they could walk out of the room and right into the pool. I liked that I could be in my room and still see my children in the pool. The front […] desk was helpful. We needed a screw driver to open one of my child's toys, and they were very helpful in getting the toy open. It was also a perfect location to get to/from West Edmonton Mall. Read more

hotel was really nice, rooms were small but we did get a fridge and microwave. don't be afraid to book this hotel. hotel was really busy with a soccer tournament in town. we were only there to sleep anyway we found it quiet pool was great even when filled with kids. will stay at the sandman again. no problem with this hotel except they could upgrade […] to plasma or LCD TV's. The rooms were OK for the price, bathrooms were good and clean (recently redone), but bedding was more like a cheap motel. The hallways, entrances, stairwells etc were in poor condition (dirty carpets) and even though we stayed in a nonsmoking room, you could still smell cigarette smoke in the hallways and rooms. Asked for 2 rooms with double beds, […] and to be adjoing, got a queen bed and sofa bed instead and was told it was an upgrade. All the rooms had adjoining doors but they didnt give us that. I was here for one night on business from Calgary. Room was pretty standard, decor is a bit dated but if you're looking to crash here at reasonable bucks I think is worth it. Having a Dennis and a Chop restaurant attached to the hotel was nice too.

After reading all the awful reviews of this hotel, I was afraid to actually stay there. My worries were definitely eased. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean although not huge, but still, just fine! The pool was a bit noisy in the evening but quieted down early. Overall, a nice stay. Too bad the Denny's was closed […] for renos but we just walked across the street for breakfast. Read more

The hotel was comfortable and reasonably priced. We loved having a first floor garden room, meaning we had a patio door that opened right onto the pool area...our kids had a fantastic time in there. But the patio door didn't shut nice and tightly, so it also meant we could hear everything in the pool and couldn't get away! I did not realize and is not stated anywhere that rooms face pool. Cleaners left sliding door out to pool area unlocked when room was cleaned. Quite stuffy small rooms for the amount I paid I could of got a bigger room in another hotel. Very loud! Walls are paper thin and all could be heart from rooms beside us.

It was close enough to to West Edmonton Mall" Lobby is very clean + CHOP restaurant. Carpet could need some upgrade. Overall pretty OK for the price.

The hotel is not wheelchair accessible, despite appearing to have been renovated recently. To access all rooms, you must walk up or down 5 stairs. No lifts or ramps are available.

have a frigde in everyroom

the front desk was pleasant but did not give me three important phone messages. when i was finally reached on the phone the person was questioned and as to why they phoned is no ones business. the baby crib supplied was broken and as a result dangerous. they refused to get another or fix. there were linens missing from my room, short on towels, no washcloths. […] overall was not pleased partying in the hall at night, shouting banging. had to leave the tv on to cover the noise. The hotel staff is friendly and the rooms,etc are clean. It is outdated, and the rooms a bit small, but it serves its purpose.

Unfriendly staff. They look like they hate their jobs. Some areas of hotel are nice and other areas not so nice. Location was good for our requirements and the hotel served it's purpose for 1 night. I wouldn't recommend it to others in comparison to other hotels in the area.

Everything was good, I stayed in room 227 but I forgot my phone recharge cord in the room.

Very reasonable rates for a convienent location. Not sure of the age of the hotel but it is starting to show a bit of shabbinesss. Rooms are fairly small. Would be nice if all rooms had a small fridge. Overall we loved the stay and will most likely return.

This is obviously an older hotel that has gone under a major facelift in the past few years. The lobby Decor is rich and inviting, the rooms clean and tidy (could upgrade the TV's). The pool area looks great with modern tile and finishes, the hot tub was hot, the pool was cold...the hot tub water level was a little high, and made sitting without dunking […] yourself a bit of a challenge. Their was bugs in the room in which I had to change rooms.

Given the mixed reviews, I was not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised, with excellent service from check in onwards. The lack of an elevator was not a problem as their is only one flight of stairs to climb. So it is no big deal for me. They changed the airconditioner after I called room service to have it checked out. Swimming facilities […] and work out room are great. Very convenient location, with Denny's right on site. Hotel was ok, exept the lack of ice machines and our room which was very small.

Good morning, over-all we were very happy with the accomodations. Our only frustrations resulted from an unexpected visit from the cleaning staff at 6:30 in the morning. For some reason they opened our door and woke us up and then left with no explanation. We found the pool very cold and could not enjoy our swim at all. The hotel and staff were very nice. The actual building is oddly set up, but didn't add or detract from my stay. I will stay there again as it was clean, the staff was friendly, and it is very convenient to many areas and attractions.
