Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Portland-NW Downtown

Everything was very nice, well maintained, the staff was friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. My only complaint (and I did not ask, which is my problem), is that they needed softer pillows - mine were all too firm and it screwed up my neck and shoulders. With that exception, it was great for both location and comfort.

Although on the edge of the downtown area, there is a bus stop right across the street. We found that convenient. It is also right off the freeway, so easy off and on to get to the airport. the staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast excellent.

We chose this hotel because it offered free parking and was in a funky neighborhood just outside the downtown area. It's fine if you don't mind the industrial area on one side. Stayed for three nights while visiting our daughter. Hotel was very clean, staff was helpful and it was the most economical choice for us. Parking was free and a hot breakfast included in the price. The only downside to the hotel was things that were out of their control. Like the annoying little kids running up and down the stairs and hallways at midnight. Parking is free, it has a great breakfast and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. We checked in very hungry after 7 hrs on a plane, and the staff at the desk gave us a local area map with 30+ places to eat we could walk to. They explained where the hotel was and how the streets were labeled, and we didn't get lost once thanks to that! The location was great, the area seems a little sketchy at first, but it might have just been different […] from home. Both my girlfriend and I felt completely comfortable walking around, even at 10:30 at night. Plenty of parking, and as I said more than enough options for every meal of the day. The absolute only downside to anything was that the views from the 1st/2nd floors on one side of the building consist of the side of another building, but we were on the 3rd so it didn't affect us. The pool, hot tub, and gym were adequate, nothing special. Breakfast was enough to get you going but I definitely recommend the espresso bar next door for coffee. I stayed in Portland to attend a wedding reception, and enjoyed this hotel. The staff were very friendly, and the accommodations were great. Being close to the freeway, it was easy to get around the city. The only fault I could find was that our room was not supplied with enough towels (the number of towels varied each day), and we almost ran out of […] toilet paper and had to request more. Also, I would recommend adding some fruit to the breakfast buffet. During my stay, I only saw green bananas. The area directly around the hotel is a little noisy, but we did not hear anything in our room, on the second floor. Great soundproofing! Within a few blocks, there are very good restaurants, taverns and bakeries in a wonderful, tree-lined area. We walked around, shopped a little and enjoyed some delicious meals. I used the gym several times, and found it adequate and about what I would expect from a smaller hotel. It appeared to be clean and well-stocked with towels and water. The hotel breakfast is perfect for families traveling. The parking is free which is hard to find in Portland. You can find excellent expresso at Kobos right next to the hotel. If you are up for a fun walk you can explore the shops on NW 23rd street. We walked to the Portland Timbers game and had a great stay! We will return!

The hotel service was courteous and professional. The location was convenient for walking to Nob hill shops and restaurants, and not that far to downtown stores and galleries on foot. Public transportation is also available just a few steps from the door. I'd go there again.

They did quick bathroom renovation, and air inside of room was really bad when we checked in at 5 pm. Tried to as if other room available, but front desk staff didn't really want to solve that issue by suggesting us to go out first. My point is I should have been noticed when check-in.
