Overall, the stay was good. It's an inexpensive, centrally located hotel. The street downhill from it is a bit sketchy, but other than that, no major complaints. Although the room we had had about a 2-inch gap between the bottom of the door and floor so we could here EVERYTHING in the hallway and some nearby rooms. But we're heavy sleepers so it was […] ok. "Great value for a great location"
The staff at this hotel really made all the difference for us. Not only did they let us store our stuff in the hotel and check into our room early, they also replaced my room key when mine "disappeared" after a night out for no extra charge. The front desk staff were friendly and had great advice to give about restaurants, sites, and clubs. I would […] highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay that is friendly, comfortable, affordable, and close to public transit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was surprised at how great the hotel actually was. The service was very friendly and prompt and it was close enough that my friend and I could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. The room was clean and quiet and we found that we would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"They need a huge renovation"
The worst hotel that I've been in the last 10 years. Surrounding neighborhood is scaring. The sheets have holes. The hotel smells very bad. Seriously, this hotel needs a huge renovation. The only good part: people was very kind.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location, good value"
Great location, within walking distance to many attractions in Montreal, including Ste Catherine's street with its bars and shopping, and Old Montreal. Nice staff, clean enough room. Basic breakfast, but nice enough given the price. No parking, but there are a number of above ground and underground lots nearby. Definitely would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Like Staying in the Projects"
To list all its shortcomings would be too exhaustive so here are some of the major ones: - Foul, decaying odor in room - Room service that will ignore the "Do not disturb" sign. And I made sure the French part of the sign was facing them. - Small room and therefore furniture is all over the place so they will fit inside room - Poorly designed bathroom. […] The door will hit whoever is using the sink. - Shower tub drain does not work well. Prepare to shower with your feet soaked in dirty water. - Useless staff. I wanted to get some soap and the guy tells me he doesn't know where it is so come back in the morning. So I suppose I didn't really have to shower that night either. - There is only street parking or pay 20 dollars a day at this tiny parking lot which looks like an abandoned dump site. The guy will tell you not to leave anything inside the car. He will also call you at crazy times to shovel the snow off your car if there is a snowstorm. He calls me at 3am and 7am in the morning and then asks me why I don't answer his calls. A real charmer. - Lastly, there is a huge ant pest problem in the room. If you do decide to stay here after reading this, do not eat in your room. If you drop just one tiny crumb on the floor, an entire army of ants will be all over the room. Don't use the trash can, the ants will cover it and it will be a sight to behold. If you're "lucky" enough to stay in my room, I have killed them all with bug spray for you. "The Hotel is clean and have a really good location"
The Hotel is clean, the location is better only maybe the isolation between the rooms is not excelent, because you can hear "a little" the noise and the steps in the room aboveGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was basic and clean. The staff was helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed being close to Sherbrooke and St. Laurent. The hotel was inexpensive and it was great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"what a horrible place to stay."
I couldn't even go inside the room. it was messy, smelly, and horrible place to stay. No parking place, Not professional at all. I won't recommend any person to stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on the edge of funky town"
The windows in the room open - a plus. Smelled like bug spray in the room. I was with friends and their room smelled the same. At least they admit they have/had a bug problem! There is limited parking in front of the hotel, but we lucked out and had free parking just outside both nights we were there. Breakfast was free - pastries, cereal, toast, juice, […] coffee. Great for budget travelers and youth. The location saves this place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is an older hotel and definitely needs some TLC to get it looking better. The room was very small and required my husband to crawl over the bed if I was sitting at the desk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"in the middle of montreal"
this hotel is small n friendly...with the price you are paying...the room is big and comfy. the bathroom is not well designed but it passes. there is free breakfast and its pretty good. the staff is friendly. the location seems a bit iffy but it is walks away from all of montreal anywhere you need to go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

very bad service. staff is not nice. the check-out time is 12:00 and you need to pay $10 for each extra hour. I checked-out time was 4PM and I was told that I need to pay them $40. in eventually I need to pay them $50 (they did not give me the reason, the lady in front-desk declared I need to pay $40 then after few minutes she re-declared the amount […] changed to be $50) very bad hotel Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very pleasant surprise"
My only complaint about the hotel is it is hard to initially find when you are completely unfamiliar with the city. Other than that, clean spacious rooms, close to everything, friendly staff, and secured entrance at night. A closer gym would be nice instead of a $10 cab ride, but that's just me being a body builder. I will be backGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to metro and St. Laurent shopping"
Surrounding area is dirty and rough around the edges. Good location for metro hop-on and St. Laurent shopping in unique shops. "Great hotel to sleep."
Excellent location and perfect for people interesting in going out and explore Montreal. If you are planning to just stay in the hotel and enjoy the amenities they offer, you are in the wrong place. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. The internet connection worked well. Breakfast was good but crowded. The manager s always in the morning […] helping with the breakfast buffet. Parking was a big problem, payed 20 dollars per night and didn't look very secure. Still parking is bad anywhere you go downtown Montreal as in any big city. Recommend not to bring your car. Metro was very efficient and close distance walking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for the budget traveler"
This is certainly a "two star" hotel. The towels are not fancy. The carpets and rooms are a little old. One of the bedspreads in our room (not sheet or blanket) had small holes. But for the price and location, there is really not a better deal. Our room was very nice, the staff was very quick to respond to a problem with our key cards and came when […] they said they would come. They did speak English, though we did also try to speak French to them (it is a French speaking city, after all!) The room was a little stuffy when we got there , but the AC worked quickly to remedy that. We had a bathroom in the room. The breakfast was good, if a bit simple. Of course, with the money you are saving by staying here you could easily go and eat elsewhere if you would like a bigger breakfast. This hotel is about two blocks walk from Rue St. Denis, where there are lots of restaurants and night life. It is near the subway. There is parking available on the street, and while there was evidence of windows being smashed in (did not happen to us), I understand this is currently a problem throughout Montreal and I don't understand how this is the hotel's fault. If you are worried, you can park in a nearby garage and walk. Bottom line, if you want a nice, clean, simple, friendly hotel to stay while you explore Montreal this is great. If you want new decorations, the latest TV, and cushy linens and towels, you might want to spend your money on a four or five star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Dirty windows, funky smell, car windows busted."
Day 1: Checkin. - Staff hardly speaks english - Staff requested $100 deposit, cash or debit card charge. No credit cards. - Not very clean, funky smelling lobby - Dirty elevator - No arrows/signs/rooms navigation - Funky smell in the room - Dirty bed covers - DIRTY windows, had to close curtains so I won't see them - Old furniture, old TV - Dirty ceiling […] with cloth traces of someone trying to clean it, but never finished. And now get ready for the final "impressions". Day 2: Checkout. - Free breakfast: Cold croisant (yeah, you can warm it up in microwave), a bowl of cereal, coffee in plastic shot glass. - Extra long checkout if you don't speak french. - Picking up our brand new Jeep from the Secure Private Parking lot on the back of the Hotel: TWO SIDE WINDOWS BUSTED! Looking around: 6 more cars with US plates - BUSTED! - Going back to the hotel: "Sorry, it's privately own parking lot, can't help you with anything". Parking lot people are not even at the parking lot, contact info sign is removed, yesterday's number doesn't answer. Police came over 2 hours later: "Sorry, it happens". "Montreal was fun, but this hotel needs to improve"
My friends and I (6 total) checked in around 11pm, after driving in from Toronto. The hotel's receptionist, Billy, was very unhelpful when I tried to explain to him that 1 of our 2 reserved rooms was not ready (missing blanket, sheets disheveled). I had to go back upstairs, show him a photograph of the room condition, before he decided to get off of […] his chair. The hotel was full already, so the only other option was to replace our 2-double bed room with a 1-King bed room - which was unacceptable as there were too many of us. The only other option was to keep our current room: Billy provided us with our own sheets, and told us to make our own beds. He also blatantly lied to us by saying he would be happy to explain the situation to his manager, who would speak with us in the lobby the next morning - we later found out that their manager Mike never comes in on weekends! On the phone, Mike was understanding and offered to refund our 1 room for 1 night, due to the starting conditions. Hotels.com was very quick to process the refund and were pleasant to deal with. Overall: The hotel is run down (carpets taped down with duct tape), and some of the linens were dirty (long hair). If you stay here, be warned - reasonable place to crash, and the hotel is a fairly central location. You do get what you pay for (or even less, in our case). Probably wouldn't stay here again. For the price everything about this hotel was decent. Decent sized room, not a lot of amenities mainly free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast so for a short stay its not bad. In terms of cleanliness and overall level of luxury of the room its a typical 3-star hotel. But GREAT location we walked to everything. Lots of nice shops, restaurants, a mall, […] and bars/clubs nearby. It will be our next choice next time we head to MTL on a budget. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel des Arts"
The hotel was on a weird back street on a hill downward, it was a little sketchy with all the graffiti in that area.. but we got an awesome deal and the room was comfortable and nice. We did not end up leaving our room because we thought it was the safest place to be.. The downsideof this hotel is that there is no parking and you must park at a public […] parking area two blocks away in the middle section but the amount of spots are limited and if not you have to go to another parking garage that is double the amount of the first. The breakfast was not what I was hoping for, there is nothing hot or freshly made, just croissants, bagels, bread, cereal, and fruit (they had bananas that day for us). If you are staying there in the winter season make sure you keep your heater on at night, we made the mistake of thinking it was too warm, shut it off and then woke up freezing. Unfortunately we did not get the impression from Montreal that it was worth exploring because of the area we were in. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Reasonable location and price for a short stay"
The hotel is acceptable as I just needed it for a short stay near the downtown area. Do not expect a lot of service/amenities but a good value hotel that offers the basics: TV, in suite bath, WiFi, etc. Walking distance to downtown and restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a room with beds. The TV and WiFi worked perfectly. The continental breakfast was awful. The pillows were flat. Spend some extra money on a decent room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We arrived at about 1am (from the airport). safe to say it was quite difficult to find, no obvious signs anywhere. Surrounding area is very close to downtown montreal but its also in the "latin quarter" which we discovered can be less than reputable after hours, just be careful walking around at night.
