This hotel is so close to San Marco, it would be a nice choice if you have never been to Venice before. People at the front desk were so nice, upbeat and helpful, I could give 6 stars for that!! Breakfast was not unusual, with eggs, ham, cheeses, fruits, bread, etc., but the hotel staff keep the dining room neat and orderly throughout the meal hours, […] supplying more food and rearranging tables and chairs. Again 6 stars!! The only con about this place was that maybe because the walls are not thick enough, you hear pretty much everything your fellow guests are doing next door. The hotel was in a great location, very close to everything you need and want to see. The breakfast was good and the lobby was nice. Free wifi is a great plus as well! My only problem was that i was on the 1st floor located behind the front desk by the stairs. This hotel is in a great location right off of San Marco Square and is easy to get to from the water bus drop-off. Big rooms, quiet and in a fun neighborhood. Breakfast is included and was very good quality food. I would definitely stay there again.

Best Western Hotel Montecarlo Hotel is located very close to Piazza San Marco. At the piazza. get into the street next to the "American Snack Bar", then turn right, and continue until the third left, Calle Speccieri. Calle Speccieri's entrance is only five feet wide, then it widens. The hotel is 50 feet inside Calle Speccieri, right side. It takes around […] 10 minutes to roll your suitcases from the San Marco pier to the hotel. Hotel is well decorated in French-Provence style. Room width is a queen-sized bed plus two feet on each side and length is a queen-sized bed plus four feet. Bathroom is decent-sized and fully eqquipped. Room was kept very clean and fully stocked. The included hot bufett breakfast was outstanding. Hotel staff was very attentive and well versed in Edglish and Spanish. They went the extra mile to help us. Hotel is located close to many restaurants, eateries, and stores in the San Marco area. WiFi service was also included. I recommend this hotel, and would go back. Read more

Like most hotels in Venice, the quarters were cramped and old. But the location was ideal, a block from San Marco square, where all the action is. Also, the air conditioning in this August heatwave was poor. All in all, good value for the price.

The staff were very helpful & accommodating. Staff provided excellent restaurant recommendations. We reserved 2 separate rooms (4 people) - truthfully one room can accommodate up to three people comfortably. Breakfast was included - very nice food & beverage choices. This hotel is in close proximity to St. Mark's Square.

The rooms are decorated in old venetian style--which is definitely not modern--but it makes you feel as if you have gone back in time. It is located right next to St. Mark's Square in San Marco. This is hotel was very nice. The location was literally steps from San Marco Piazza. Room was nice size and staff was very helpful. Complimentary breakfast was very good also. You walk out the entrance and you are in the heart of Venice. Will stay here again.

Ok..so we just stayed at the best western montecarlo last week and I must say this hotel is great in terms of location. Right around the corner to St. Marks, close to vaporetto stops, overall very convienient. However, the rooms very tight. I know that this is what to expect with European and especially Venice hotels, but the size of the room and bathroom […] was hysterically small. You could also hear conversations and movement very very clearly from the hallway, so if you're a light sleeper this may not be the hotel for you. The room was also extremely hot due to the warm weather. Control of the temp was not available from the room and hotel concierage was not willing to help with this since if was off season for AC. It was very hit or miss with the staff, some very helpful and some not. My husband had to go downstairs to get toliet paper since the housekeeping did not leave any in our bathroom and they were obvioulsy annoyed with him that he had asked for it. Wifi was hit or miss as well. Breakfast was fine, had your selction of fruits, meats, cheeses, danishes etc - enough to get you started in the morning to explore the island. And finally the hotel does offer a complimentary water taxi service to the island of Murano that leaves every 30 minutes starting at 9am, not sure when the last one departs. While it was very nice to get the free ride to Murano, once you get there be ready to spend some time in a glass factory with very annoying sales people trying to get you to spend thousands of dollars on glass peices. We took the tour of the factory, watched the master blow art and then took our own public water taxi to Burano (which was magical). If buying glass work is for you then this will be great, but if it is not I would be polite but walk quick through the 12 galleries they make you walk through to exit the factory. Overall the hotel has one great thing going for them and that is the location, but for the price I would probably look into other options. Read more

The staff was very attentive and courteous. The only problem was the offer of a free boat ride lasting about 2 hours which if fact the intention was to take you to a glass showroom on Murano for the purpose of sales. Less than honest I thought. Other than that I would stay there again.

This hotel can be difficult to find but the location is fantastic for walking all over Venice and so very close to St. Marks Square and the Grand Canal. It was not the most comfortable bed but in general while outdated the room was nice and clean. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast was tasty. Great coffee.

Amazing location, right in San Marco Square. Hotel room and bath was very small and tight. It's like you dont when it starts and ends. Hotel staff very friendly except a manager that works during night time, very rude and not friendly at all. I stayed 2 nights in September 2011 and because of that manager may not go back again.

This hotel looks like it has not been updated since 1970! The positives . . . the staff was extremely nice and helpful and spoke English. The location is great as it's very close to Piazza San Marco and tons of shopping in every direction. The room was clean and the bathroom was updated and also clean. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel is becuase of what they are involved in. Let me explain....the day I checked in I asked about tours and such. They told me about some of the tour brochures they had in the lobby and that they can book them for me. Then he started to tell me about this complimentary tour that will be made available the […] next morning. He said the hotel offered this tour during down season, which was a boat ride to take us around the local canels. We agreed. The next morning, a man came to pick us up at the hotel and led us to a boat. We were the only ones from the hotel and no one else on the tour, not even a tour guide. We were taken to another island into a glass blowing showroom. We were shown how the glass was blown, and several "rare and unique" pieces, and were offered 'sale' rates. After the tour of the showroom was over, they dropped us off on the other side of our island, where we had to manage walking back on our own. No tour and no canels. Once we got back, we checked out some local stores where we found the same pieces we had just seen at rock bottom prices! We spoke to other tourists and they said they're hotel had sent them on the same so called tour. So BUYER BEWARE!! Your hotels' customer service may not be completely honest. Read more

Great Hotel ! Very simple to get to as long as you zoom in on the map provided. 2 minute stroll to St Mark's 5 min walk from St Mark's waterbus stop or 7 min walk from Rialto Bridge waterbus stop.
