Never Resolved Housekeeping Issue - WON'T RETURN
This is a difficult one because we actually liked the hotel, it's amenities and location. The front desk staff and valets were excellent and the restaurant was very good. However, when we arrived we noticed that there were long black hairs, pieces of plastic and a dried cherry stem on the bathroom floor. The rest of the room looked okay, we thought maybe it was an oversight and decided to wait and see how it was the next day because it was late. We returned back to the room that evening and the floor was the same. We told the front desk staff and they said they would inform housekeeping management and apologized. Next day - same and bathtub not cleaned. I had the front desk staff come up to see the condition of the bathroom, she promised it would be fixed the next day, she also gave us a restaurant voucher and waived 3 days of parking fees. Next day - same, and sink dirty, empty kleenex box on the bathroom counter and...here's this kicker...the housekeeper turned the A/C on and turned it down as far as they could, the room was freezing! Seems like retaliation to me. I called the front desk again, I was promised they would do something for my stay and have GM call me. On the last day we left the "Do not Disturb" sign on our door. I received nothing else from the hotel and I never received a call from the GM. Cancelled our future reservation and told all family and friends not to stay here.

Great place - only one complaint
We were in Portland for several days to go to a family wedding. The hotel was very nice (we had stayed here before) and the staff was friendly. The only problem was with the room staff. On a couple of days there were either not enough or no towels, and on one day the bed was thrown together and the dirty towels were left in the bathtub with no replacements. Nothing was cleaned, either. Other than that, the room was excellent, with a great view of the river. The restaurant was really exceptional, with innovative, delicious food served in a scenic setting overlooking the river. Kudos to the chef(s). We would consider staying here again, when we visit in the future.

Tucked Away Along the River
Suite hotel tucked away along the river next to bike path. View blocked by trees. Somewhat hard to locate off main highways. Valet parking only. Rooms very good with large area, fireplace, small terrace, and adequate bathroom. Windows mostly blacked out to avoid neighboring office building views. Decent fitness center, free coffee. Somewhat isolated from downtown and its restaurants. Cheapest choice vs. downtown hotels.

Convenient to nothing, overpriced-avoid this place
The hotel was waaaay more remote than advertised. It was absurdly overpriced. In a junior suite, I could see the vacuuming lines in the carpet exactly where housekeeping had vacuumed around chairs and furniture, the shower gel dispenser was empty when I arrived and remained empty for two days until I happened to catch housekeeping and ask them to fill it (thank goodness I had brought my own soap!), my check-in was a mess with someone saying I asked for "late check in" which I absolutely did NOT and had me waiting in the lobby until after 4pm (the hotels official check in time) when a desk person finally called housekeeping - they were supposed to call down to the desk as soon as my room was ready - and housekeeping was like, oh yeah, that rooms been ready for a while. We just forgot to call you. #notsorry When I entered my room it was clear (aside from the empty shower gel dispenser) that they had done a super rush job. At one point I dropped a pen under the couch. I moved the couch to retrieve my pen and found a whole world of stuff under there including:!a new packet of sparkly Lee press-on nails, what looked like a mice's field day of Cocoa Puffs(?), loose change, a soda cap, and assorted other ephemera. The whole thing was just an overpriced, remote, waste. Oh - and the food, the food is AWFUL. I mean, really truly bad. And at $30 a plate or so... Oh my, don't even get me started on the food.
