"Nirvana"
Took my daughter and her buddies here for a 16th birthday celebration. Everything was perfect. Beautiful suites, attentive room service, contemporary clean but comfortable look, gorgeous views, complete spa, 24/7 spacious fitness center, continental breakfast served on each floor so no crowd and no need to go up and down elevator with food. Amazingly […] well done. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great place to stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa Thank you for choosing our hotel
"An okay stay, but certainly could be improved."
The hotel is attractive, and the location is okay. Nothing is in walking distance, so expect to drive everywhere; in exchange for the odd location you get a decent view of the river. Valet is mandatory, which normally wouldn't bother me, except they made us wait for a long time, on several occasions, and most of the valets lacked manners -- although […] there was one valet who was exceptionally nice. Our room was clean and the bathroom was nice. The separate tub and shower was a nice surprise. They still have old-school tube TVs in the rooms; they seem very out of place in 2013. There is a spot for a mini fridge -- and it appears one was once there -- although it has since been ripped out and nothing seems to have been done to hide that fact. Despite being a "spa" our neighbors were exceptionally loud -- all night. Overall, the hotel was okay. Nothing great, and nothing terrible. I would seriously question the four-star rating, however. The amenities and service didn't back that up. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel looks great. I didn't have a chance to try their resteraunt, but looked at the menu and it looked good.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pay for parking in Portland????"
I was shocked to find out that the only parking available was $19/day and valet only. This was quite upsetting, as this cost should be included in the price of the hotel. Ended up parking my car several blocks away out of principal. will never stay at this hotel again because of this.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa We are sorry to learn you will not return to our hotel but we would like to explain that we rent the parking spaces hence the parking fee. Hopefully you enjoyed other aspects of your stay.
"Very good hotel with a great gym"
Room and hotel were modern and clean. Stylish in fact. No complaints with room, bed or any part of the stay. Big positive is the gym, as it is part of a health club. Location is at south end of Portland and very quiet. Good if you like quiet, a cab ride if you want to get out and see the town.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa We appreciate your review. It is always great to know you enjoyed your stay.
"Valet only, bad "breakfast", inconvenient location"
There are some inconveniences with staying here. For one, it is valet parking ONLY. If you did not get a rental, you will spend $$$ on cabfare if you want to leave the premises. The location appears to be poorly thought out in relation to having access to amenities/shopping/restaurants of ANY kind. There is no shuttle service. The "breakfast" they […] put in the foyer in the morning is basically hi carb/hi sugar...cereal, muffins, coffee cake, juice, fruit, yogurt. That's it. The restaurant on site isn't open for breakfast, so, unless you want to go into a diabetic coma from the crap they have in the foyer, you have to call a cab if you don't have a rental, but if you do, you still have to hassle with the valet situation to go somewhere else. Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa We are very sorry our property did not fit your needs. Unfortunately we do not own the parking lot outside the hotel, we rent those space reason why we offer Valet service. We appreciate your comments regarding continental breakfast.
"wonderfully relaxing atmosphere"
Wonderful hotel with great amenities close to downtown Portland. Although it takes about 15 minutes to get to dowtown by public transportation, it allowed for a great quiet location and unbeatable access to the river. Be sure to get a river-view room (definitely worth it), and enjoy the attached spa/salon. For someone in the middle of stressful business […] trips, this hotel was a wonderful getaway at the end of the day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Really nice hotel"
Excellent hotel! My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very comfortable. The spa was great-nice little addition to our stay. The only downside would be the $19 parking but if you're willing to walk about 10 minutes then you can park for free.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa We are delighted to read your stay was wonderful and that you found our staff helpful.
"Couples Getaway"
Nice, modern hotel with Spa on the first floor. The restaurant next door was great. we had happy hour with a view of the river.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa We are glad you enjoyed your continental breakfast and your meal at our restaurant. We too love the great views of the Willamette River.
"Business stay"
Have stayed here many times when it was the Avalon. Same great place....I just really wish that they would include gluten free choice(s) at the continental breakfast. A bowl of hard boiled eggs would be so appreciated, and less labor than another, albeit, lovely, delicious baked breakfast sweet bread. The yogurt is all sweet, no plain - which would […] also be appreciated. They used to offer nice fresh fruit salad and now put out a few pieces of whole fruit. The valet parking is still way overpriced....$19 per night, in a lot that is steps away. That could definitely be improved on. Go to Zupan's down the road on Macadam for nice dinner choices, beverages, to take back to your room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Will not return"
I will never stay at River's Edge again....bathroom was nice but the rest of the room was tacky, tacky, tacky....lumpy bed - felt like I was sleeping on an incline; old tube tv; stained carpet and furniture; chipped furniture; walls soooooo thin I could hear people using the bathroom in the middle of night - I learned by the second night to keep the […] fan running in the room all night to block outside noises......no waaaaaaay this place is a four-star! Response by River’s Edge Hotel & Spa What a lovely review, thank you
The only thing that surprised me was breakfast. I definitely thought a hotel of such high class would serve hot breakfast even if was just eggs, sausage/bacon & toast. That's the only place they lost points to me, but service was greatGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Just passing through"
WOW! I believe this word sums up what I would like to say about it. We were so impressed with the staff, hotel, room and the view! The whole package gets a A+. The only sad part of the stay was the parking. The hotel has to rent the parking spaces for all persons staying at the hotel, so in return, when you check in they tell you to have the Valet park […] your car for you and then the Valet has to charge you $19.95 for the night! The hotel has no other parking available. How sad is that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Completely Adequate and Not Much More"
The hotel is not downtown, but only about a 10 minute drive away. The location is a bit hard to find, but once you're there, the rooms have beautiful views of the peaceful river. The hotel itself is clean, cozy and the rooms are in good working order. Like I said, everything was adequate but not remarkable in a good or bad way, very middle-of-the-road. […] I did feel that the staff at the front desk and adjoining restaurant were cold and not-so-friendly but they were competent and got the job done. I will say that the masseurs are excellent and do a very thorough and professional massage. The spa facilities are showing signs of age and dilapidation- something was missing or broken in every shower stall (not to mention obvious signs of mildew in the tile grout) and the hot water is hit-or-miss. "Great staff, but thin walls."
Really great staff! Rooms were very comfortable with large bathrooms. The walls are a little thin and noise from adjoining rooms is the norm. Balcony with river view were nice and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"GOOD HOTEL FOR PORTLAND VISIT"
Everyone on the staff was wonderful trying to assist. Be advised that parking is by vallet parking, but the staff was always prompt in retrieving our car. The hotel is close enough to downtown to use Portland's efficient mass transit system (we were visiting family). One nice perk is that parking is free for hybrid cars. The breakfast was more than […] adequate and could easily be taken back to your room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"River's Edge is Fantastic !"
The hotel is an incredible experience. Service was great, staff was very friendly, and all around I felt welcomed. Right on the river, so it's an incredible view. "Family CHRISTMAS '12 in Portland"
Nice SPA, except you need to maker SPA reservations when you make hotel reservations... they were sold out for 4 days. Hotel river side worth the extra $10/day. Nice walk/run/bike path going south to park. Hotel staff did not know that path went thru park down to Sellwood Bridge then back up path into Portland cross Ross Island Bridge and back to hotel... […] about a 7.3 mile track. Weather was rainy as it always is so be prepared with layered clothing to cover into the low 30s (seems like 20s when wind blowing). Zoo Lights were a hit. "Great find!"
Very pleasant hotel tucked away down by the river. Rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms very clean and modern. I stayed in a hillside room which actually overlooks an office building but I was working and it was dark so it didn't matter for me. Only suggestion would be to provide a real desk chair - the armchair provided was too low and not adjustable. […] a refrigerator would also be a nice touch. I didn't have time to visit the spa but guests have free use of the sauna and jacuzzi tubs - maybe next time. Aquariva restaurant is adjacent to the hotel and is worth the visit. Great bar menu and food was awesome, as was the bar tender and the boats sailing by with their holiday lights. I can imagine it must be a great view on a sunny day. Complimentary continental breakfast had the best granola I've ever tasted! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful View, even in the rain"
Beautiful riverside room, with balcony! Even in the rain, we enjoyed the fresh air and splendid view. We were pleased with the spa facilities (included) - lovely and luscious - and feel the fee for the Yogalates class was well spent. Food at the accompanying restaurant is excellent. "Disappointed"
Overall the hotel is pleasant, however there were 2 glaring issues. 1. Lack of work space in the guest room 2. Lack of WIFI access in the guest rooms. I checked into to room# 500 and had no WIFI signal. I called the front desk to complain and they said that the higher floors have very poor WIFI signals. I was moved to room# 136 and there was no improvement. […] When I took my Ipad to the main lobby, the WIFI worked fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"nice hotel, disappointing parking"
Hotel was fine. I found it ridiculous that it was valet-only parking, and another $19/night to park in the hotel lot. Would much rather park myself and not have the valet, who is literally dripping wet from the rain, retrieve and/or park my car and leave the seat soaking wet. Weather aside, I would still rather park and walk 200 feet -- valet should […] be optional. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great property! Great fitness center. Costly required valet parking ($19/day, plus tips)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in growing area"
I ended up with a hillside view, which is really a view of the office next door. The river view is much nicer, so worth a few extra dollars. The TV is not digital, but the fitness area is amazing. While they provide a continental breakfast on every floor, I would have appreciated more variety in the yogurts.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't walk to must-see sights; meagre breakfast."
Hotel and rooms were nice. Staff very friendly. Not accessible to mass transit. Cab ride from airport $40. Sparse breakfast served on thin table on each floor by elevators:tiny yogurts, OJ, coffee (no tea), mini-mini croissants and chocolate chip muffins only pastry choices, apples only fruit choice, no bananas. Nicer rooms than Motel 6. Better "complimentary […] breakfast" at almost any third tier hotel. I would not go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will stay again"
Room was smaller than some but the view of the river was great. Continental breakfast was good with 'house made granola'. Internet was spotty since we were at the end of a hall. Also the remote for the TV didn't change channels from a distance. Would have said something if we had been in our room more. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Valet parking […] was reliable and fast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
