"Cozy hotel with wonderful staff and amenities"
Our 4 night stay was incredible. We were upgraded from hillside to riverside for free for booking with expedia. Everyone associated with the was friendly and extremely helpful with recommendations and tips about the city. Hotel provided free day passes to the street car which was a very short walk from the hotel. The fitness center is large with newer […] equipment and yoga class was included at no charge. The valet/shuttle was very easy to schedule and far more comfortable than a cab. Bikes were also available for free, and the valet provided us with great instructions and a map to get around. I really cannot say enough great things about this hotel. Even the coffee in the lobby was great! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Hotel, Ugly Experience."
Check in time is 4 p.m. My room was not ready until 4:50 which would not have been an issue except I had rented the 1,400 square ft suite for a surprise bachelorette party. Wasnt much of a surprise since the room was not ready before the bride arrived. The toilet in the bedrrom was broken and overflowing, when I called the front desk to report my issue, […] the clerk responded by saying "well I can bring you up a plunger." There was no longer a television as advertised in the main living area of the suite. The pull-out sofa bed was broken and the hotel was all out of rolling cots even though my expensive suite was now short on sleeping space. The dining area was not fully cleaned and the coffee pot still had coffee from the previous guests. The hotel had a bar/restaurant with only one bar tender and no servers/waut staff inside. It took me 15 minutes to get a drink only to find that I had to change my drink selection 5 times because the bar manager didnt believe in carrying flavored liquor. So I couldnt even have a simple maragita! A shuttle is supposed to be complimentary with the cost of the stay but when I went to schedule a pick up with valet at 6 p.m. I was told I wouldn't be able to get anything until 10 p.m. and they could call me a cab, my cab never came and another guest felt so bad for me they gave up their cab so I could meet my party down town. The hotel is really south of the downtown core. Fine if you want solitude but not convenient for walking into town.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel"
Great hotel. The description led me to believe it was much closer to "downtown" Portland, so this was disappointing. You must pay $25 per night for valet. And it is a hike to get to the trolley station if you are not used to walking. But, the hotel itself is lovely.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small things hurt"
Rooms were not ready at 4 after riding 205 miles and needing a shower, got offered some wimpy comps ($20) Could not get coffee makers out of the "closet", coffee pack was not sealed and spilled all over Noisy ventilation Bad service for breakfast, 3 people running around with no direction, training an issueGenuine Expedia guest review
"Top notch Hotel"
Really enjoyed our stay. We were in town for a convention, brought out bikes and rode easily to and from the city center across the river and down from the hotel. Close to downtown with entertainment and shopping. Also fine dining nearby and a bakery for breakfast just down teh street near the OHSU gondola base. Lovejoy Bakery. Staff was great and accomadated […] all our requests including a place to stow our bikes. They even have hotel bikes you can use if you cant bring your own which is probably the case for most people. Room was clean, bedding wonderful. It was a near 100 degree weekend and the A/C kept up with no problem. Stayed in one of the two king bed rooms with frig. Plenty of room for 4 people. Used the sauna and steam rooms as well and were very pleased with this amenity. All and all very satisfied with our stay and we will be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wouldn't hesitate to go back"
We had never been to Portland. Met friends there for three nights. The hotel was gorgeous, the staff were exceptional and the grounds of the hotel were very beautiful. We ate in the Aquariva restaurant a number of times. Breakfast, happy hour small plates and dinner. All the food and servers were excellent. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Rivers Edge. […] We found the location to be ideal, because we could walk to the trolley and get into town. And speaking of walking, what a great river view walkway the hotel has. I took many 30 minute walks along there. Just beautiful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed at River's Edge four times now. We are never disappointed except for it seems over-priced and we get tired of tipping the valets and paying a daily rate for parking when we could walk out the front door of the hotel and get our car ourselves. It is so convenient to downtown without all the chaos of downtown. Love having the riverside […] trail access right in front to the hotel (use it every day). Have yet to eat at Aquariva but it looks like a nice restaurant. Our daughter lives in Hillsdale in a one-bedroom house so we want to be close to her but can't stay with her so River's Edge fits the bill. The staff is always very cheerful and helpful. "Needs new mattresses on their beds"
Overall this is a nice hotel on the river but it is not the easiest location to find by car. For the money, I was disappointed that the mattresses on both the beds had that sunken in (well worn) feeling like you were going to fall off the bed and the air conditioning was so loud you had to turn the volume up on your TV to hear anything. The staff was […] very nice, friendly and helpful and it had that nice boutique hotel feel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel on the river, close to the street cars"
Everything was fine with our stay. There is a nice restaurant next to the hotel on the river. Food is good and service is great. No problems with the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Super hotel, getting a little shabby"
Really cool location, incredible fitness center. Getting a little shabby on the upkeep. "old style" TV's; no flat screens.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beside the river with bike/walking path, the setting was lovely & quiet, the service quick & friendly. Aprox 10 mintes from the pearl, provides perfect retreat from urban bustle w/easy access to city activity. Riverside restaurant delicious!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel a little away from dowtown"
We stayed here for 4 nights. This hotel is very nice, but it is not near downtown. To go there, one needs to walk 10 min (not very nice walk at night) to get to the streetcar. The good thing is that the tickets for public transportation is $1 per ride or $5 for the day. They have bikes to lend and a complimentary service for taking you into the city, […] which is very convenient at night. The rest is ok but breakfast is only at the rest so we ended up walking to a Deli to have breakfast every day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely and quiet"
The Rivers Edge was a delight! We loved the personal transportation into downtown Portland which was terrific. We could enjoy dinner do a little shopping and be driven back, no worries about parking or the traffic! Great coffee in the morning as well!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Poor Customer Service & Not Honest"
(1) Since I got a good rate, I thought I would ask about the room location and view. Frankly, I was totally lied to. Was told I had a nice view ofthe hills but not of the river. Though I did have a view of the hills, it was directly looking at and over the air handling units on the room... their description was a lie. (2) Vallet parking was comical […] - it took me 25 minutes (no joke) to get my car though I could see it about 75 yards away. (3) the bed have very poor support, very low quality. I havent written reviews but felt this important. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Friendly Staff at Hotel!"
Room (Deluxe Suite) was Big and roomy! Awesome King Roll Out Bed (I would buy one for home)! Great location if you don't need to be in walking distance to city... if you like to bike or run the river trail is r!ight there... The weight room is as big as my gym at home (very nice)! Didn't use the spa but it looked nice. Fresh Coffee in AM and Flavored […] Water all Day! Good Touches .. I have stayed at many Hotels in Portland.. this would be a top choice for Families as the Suite is Very Big and provides room for a family of 4... you can still drive down town and walk the city or get to Zoo/Rose Garden with a real easy ride.. Portland is small town geographically so its easy to get around in a car.... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not family friendly."
It sucked, was misleading as a spa. Kids are not allowed to use any of the spa amenities because they are clothing optional. We booked for two nights left after one. "Beautiful hidden gem!"
Awesome hotel!!! This was our first time in portland and the staff did an amazing job helping us find our way around town, they had a shuttle van to take you into town and pick you up. the transit left us 2 min from the hotel so we dident mind if it was not in the middle of down town .The room was clean and comfortable and a great size, also they are […] a very eco-friendly hotel. Balcony had a nice view but it dident have much privacy as someone from the next room can easily hop on over to your side. The room had a fireplace that kept us nice and toasty but no fridge or microwave :/. Tv was an old square one .. Would have liked a flat screen in such a nice hotel but we managed. Also had no continental breakfest and the restaraunt next door dident have much selection but there is a spaghetti factory not to far so you may want to go there instead. Overall the hotel did a great job of making our anniversary special and I will definitely be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very quiet and comfy"
Overall this is a great place. If you do not want to stay in the hub bub of downtown then this is the place. Streetcar transit to down town works well. The only issue we came across is the staff at the front desk not knowing the difference between "the trolley" that no longer runs and the actual streetcar. The hotel is not local to downtown Portland. The hotel does have a shuttle that will take you downtown. This shuttle does exist, but during rush hour or if they are just too busy the shuttle is not running. I asked for a ride downtown and was told "not during rush hour" the valet told me about a wall of traffic. The cab I took 10 minutes later didn't […] have a problem. Valet parking is 26 dollars, highway robbery. I was told I can park on a residential street. Ok, where? I am from NY I have no idea what surrounds me. Hotel is nice, restaurant was great. "Great views. Outstanding service."
We had an excellent experience in our two-day stay. While our room was spacious, it was on the side away from the river, so you might want to specifically request a river view. We did, however, enjoy great views from the dining room and the patio. The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful. A special tribute to the management. We did have a disappointing […] experience one night at the restaurant. My pork chop was overdone and tough. The waiter even brought two extra knives to help me try to cut it! We mentioned it the next morning to our breakfast server when she asked how we enjoyed dinner. When we returned to our room, we found a hand-written note from the manager thanking us for our candid feedback and telling us he had deleted the dinner from our bill, including the wine and drinks! That's real customer service and a great way to recover from what might have otherwise put a damper on our overall experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A fantastic deal on a suite, close to Portland"
Loved the hotel and the staff. The only issue was that when we checked in, the River Side Deluxe Suite was not available. It sounded like a maintenance issue. The staff totally made up for the room issue but I would have loved to stay in […] the suite. Next time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel along the river-not close to downtown"
The hotel is very nice and the people were very friendly and helpful. The location is quirky. It is certainly not in the heart of Downtown or the Pearl (for better or worse) so on the one hand you can't walk to most restaurants on venues there but on the other hand it is on a great river walk and is quite beautiful in its own right. I would recommend […] it to people who are looking for a downtownish location at a reasonable price (and we got it at a VERY reasonable price) who don't require all of the amenities of a real 4 or 5 star hotel. "Great hotel, great staff"
Have stayed here 4 times now and it never disappoints. The staff is so friendly at every moment of the day. Smells like a lovely spa all thru the hotel, love that. Rooms are spacious and a room with a balcony overlooking the river is the best. Food at accompanying restaurant is excellent and can't say enough about Chef Seth. "Great stay at an attractive location"
I really enjoyed my short stay here. Everything was near perfect except the TV was an old picture-tube set instead of a flat screen. Not a big deal but with sets costing just a few hundred dollars I would hope they would upgrade in the future. The room was attractive and spotless. The staff were friendly. I'd certainly stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is away enough from downtown for it to be nice and quiet. My girlfriend and I are runners so it was perfect that the waterfront trail is literally next to the hotel. We didn't like that there weren't many options for restaurants within waking distance but we did like the remoteness of the hotel so we were jut fine to drive. The room was […] really spacious, specially the bathroom. Really liked the separate shower/tub. Shower did have a little but of mold starting in the tile cracks. Nothing a little more shower cleaner spray would take care off but it could be. A problem if someone is allergic. We stayed for three nights and really wished there was a fridge in the room but there wasn't. Balcony rooms are a little more than the road side but the balconies are small and not private at all, not a big deal if you don't mind sitting right next to your neighbor separated by a small piece of canvas. But the view of lake is really nice. Too bad it's covered by a lot of trees. Staff was great and very willing to assist. Only real complaint is the mandatory, 25 dollar a night, valet parking. It wasn't mentioned on the website and was a bit of a shock to add $75 dollars to the already $500+ hotel stay. Besides that it was a nice place but not sure we'd stay there again. Just a preference. We like a little more access to restaurants and nightlife. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Everything about our stay was great including the rate, the facilities/amenities, and especially the staff. As we're unfamiliar with the area, the staff was a huge asset with their recommendations of places to eat and visit, even scenic routes to take along the way. They have a free drop-off service for anywhere in the downtown area which was extremely […] helpful. "Zero Parking and Overzealous Cleaning Staff"
River's Edge has ZERO parking and is valet only, which incurs an additional $25 per night parking fee (plus tip). The cleaning staff was overzealous, and at 9am on Sunday morning there was not only a vacuum cleaner in the hallway and a leaf blower outside my room's window, but at 11am the cleaning staff disregarded the "Do Not Disturb" notice on my […] door and knocked to ask if they could clean my room. The facility was nice, but the lack of parking, location, and the numerous disturbances would discourage me from staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the location and view. We stayed four nights. The noise level at night was disturbing and two nights we put up with a party next door that spilled out into the hallway at times. No in room refrigerators, nor did we see any vending machines so bring your own non-perishables. In room bottled water provided at $4.00 a bottle. Valet parking only at […] $25.00 a day plus tips every time you leave and return...ugh. The staff was very nice though. Nice place but they need to address a few things to make it a great place.
