It was an awesome location, it is only minutes from the airport so you can get on the beach right away. The staff was nice and helpful. There are a lot of places to eat, and the bar by the beach is a perfect relaxing spot.

This is the 4th time I have stayed at the Intercontinental. Why? It's in a great location, Isla Verde, the service is great, the food is delicious and the rooms are clean. I was upgraded to a junior suite lagoon view without asking. How wonderful was that?! No complaints here!!!!!

Overall? Pretty nice. The casino was fun, the pool was good, the beach was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and even quiet despite being next to the elevators. As previously reported, the elevators are kind of slow, we ended up waiting only about 30-75 seconds for the elevator most times, took the stairs up to the 4th floor once. The hotel was re-done and have modern conveniences but it still has the old bones apparent. The bathrooms weren't re-done very well, but the rooms are fab. There is one pool so kids, adults, spring breakers all share one space which isn't idle, but at least it's a nice, big pool. I found there weren't enough umbrellas around the pool area, so those […] were at a premium and cabanas had an extra fee. The concierge was slightly helpful, The tour booker slightly less helpful in booking activities outside her already sold-out tour groups. Worst of all, the bellmen took our bags for 10 minutes when we first arrived and we were billed $9 for them. We tipped them in addition, because we didn't know and we took our bags up to the room ourselves. that was a bit ridiculous! I'd come back to the area, but stay at the Ritz down the street probably. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Right on the beach, lots of restaurants around (Mi Casita is THE breakfast joint!), great pool, hot tub, safe area. We've been back 5 or 6 times. Rooms recently renovated. Downside? No free WIFI. Slow service in the AlFredo restaurant. Overall excellent!

I was a little worried before my stay because of some of the negative reviews the intercontinental received. Overall however, I was very satisfied! I stayed with 2 friends. We arrived 2 hours before check-in, yet our room was ready right away! 5 minutes after requesting additional towels room service came. We stayed at the Intercontinental last week for a medical conference. Although the area surrounding the hotel was a little sketchy, the beach area was very nice and we felt safe enough walking around during the day. The pool was freezing the entire time so we were not able to enjoy it. Luckily the hottub was lukewarm so our little one was able to swim […] in that. The beach was very nice, although I thought it was a little ridiculous that you had to pay $10 for an umbrella on the beach. The staff was very friendly. We especially enjoyed the doormen. We didn't open the front door once during our entire stay. Also, when we asked for a taxi they literally sprinted to the curb (a good ways) to hail one. Most of the food that we had in the hotel restaurants was just okay. However, the mofongo that we ordered from the bar in the lobby was AMAZING! The room looked like they had tried to remodel it recently, but the bathroom was still very small, damp, and dated. It was nice to have the mini-fridge, but it was also dated and in a very ackward location. The same with the safe, very nice to have, but on a very high shelf in the closet that even my tall husband had difficulty reaching. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again if some of the nicer hotels were booked. Very tired building. Needs updating. Bathrooms were old style. Nice view. Nice bed. We had a security incident with our room and the timeliness of their response was very poor. Beach was nice but one day there was so much seaweed we couldn't sit there or go in the water. Pools were nice.

The hotel is nice but I have stayed at better. The staff wasn't that helpful and one or two were even rude. For example, I ordered a drink at the bar in the hotel (there were only maybe 10 people at the bar but three bartenders behind the bar). I had to wait about 6-7 minutes for someone to notice me when a female bartender asked what I wanted. She […] took my order then passed it off to the other bartender. I then waited another 10 minutes while he took other orders..I finally got his attention and asked how much longer for my order, his reply...he put his hand up towards me and told me "I will get to it eventually, you will have to just wait". Needless to say, I didn't wait, I just walked away and went to another hotel next door and had a better time. Also, had a problem with the TV in the room. The TV channels were full of static and I called to complain twice but they never fixed it so I had to watch TV with poor reception for days. My brother had an adjoining room with a TV that also had poor reception but his TV remote didn't work either ..he called twice and also stopped at the desk to tell them it wasn't working...tbut they never replaced or fixed it. The tour desk was rude and really had no interest in helping us. No free Wi-Fi and the price for it in the room was ridiculous. They had two different rates depending on internet speed...I think the price they were charging for the slow speed was ridicilous and for the faster speed...preposterous. Read more

We were deciding between the El San Juan and the Intercontinental. So glad be decided to go with the Intercontinental. The Intercontinental was clean, airy, quiet, and the staff was amazingly helpful. The only downside was that the hot tub was closed the entire week we were staying there. Room service was quick to respond and they let us check in early and check out late with no charge. Great quality for the price and the beach was beautiful! Fantastic stay!! Everything about the intercontinental was perfect! The Staff was fantastic, the facility was immaculate, the food was fantastic, and the Mojitos were amazing!! Our room had an amazing ocean view and was beautifully kept! During our stay the hotel experienced a power outage which was a bit of an inconvenience but these things happen […] and the staff went above and beyond to make up for it they made a bad experience into a pretty enjoyable one!! The only negative thing was the beach, before our stay everyone told us that the beach really makes the stay but when we were there the beach was unusable, full of seaweed and an unbearable odor but I'm guessing it was the time of year! Nice oceanfront hotel with lots of landscaped grounds. Walk to nearby eateries or other hotel casinos for a change of scenery. Currently undergoing some room remodeling so some floors may hear some noise. Very well maintained resort and a great vacation.

They had an "I don't care attitude at the front desk and a belligerent attitude at the pool and from beach security. Booked the hotel 6 months in advance as second stop for our honeymoon. Come to find out the hotel is under construction and noise was extremely loud starting at 7:50am. Moved rooms once and almost a second time but didnt feel like packing and un packing again. First room was really outdated and second one at least had a flat screen tv. I booked the room (and paid the balance in full) on the hotels.com app at the last minute after our flight from SJU was cancelled. An hour later, I arrived at the front desk to check in and was told that I need to pay the full balance. I let them know that I booked thru hotels.com and that I had a receipt showing the balance paid in full...long story, […] short - I stood at the front desk for 30 minutes trying to resolve the issue with a VERY rude clerk...I even forwarded my email confirmation to the manager and still had to wait another 10 minutes while the clerk mindlessly punched the keyboard behind the desk. So then, we are FINALLY taken up to our room (which I had upgraded on the hotels.com app to a king bed)...WRONG..they took us to a queen room...so...back downstairs to argue the fact that I had paid extra for a king room...10 minutes later, we were taken to a king room. From there, the stay improved with a nice visit to the italian restaurant downstairs and a relaxing morning poolside before our flight. It's a really beautiful hotel in a great location, but unfortunately, we would not return because of the horrible service that we received at the front desk...:( Read more
