We've stayed here a number of times and it's always a pleasant stay. This time, our stay spanned Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Christmas Day morning, the toilet became plugged and I was sure that we'd have a problem getting it taken care of quickly. Apparently this property has been completely renovated since becoming an independant (no longer a Best Western), and it's all for the best. Modern and clean, fairly priced - no frills, but who ever uses the pool in a hotel any way!?

hotel advertises pet friendly and no pets are allowed. beds were not good. front desk was not very accomadating. had to re-activate key every day in order to use it. computer was broken so could not check email. would not recommend and would not stay there again

BE WARNED - if they claim to have lost your reservation, and want you to call and cancel with Hotels.com, don't do it!! They are trying to work the system, and get all the money for themselves - AND screw you out of your Welcome Rewards Points. Also - TERRIBLE customer service - VERBALLY requested 2 REGULAR coffee cups (they use K-cups, very stingy […] with then!) - never got what I asked for (even with a tip included) for 6 DAYS - how dense are these people?! Breakfast leaves much to be desired, pillows are hard, service is awful, no pool, gym is basically a closet with a tredmill in it, carpet is nasty, water pressure bad.... The only problem we had was breakfast was only available until 9am and this hotel is not set in a business area where people reporting for corporate meetings need to be up and out. Easy access to the university for an affordable price, which is why we stay there. Instead of fighting for lodging closer to campus and paying a premium for it, we found the Inn at the Faigrounds accessible to all points of interest around Syracuse but far enough away from town to save money and have rooms available for most occasions.

My only complaint was the live music at the restaurant. Typically This wouldn't matter to me except it woke me from my sleep and kept me awake most of the night. The response to my complaint was that I could move to another room. Frankly i wasnt about to get dressed pack up and move in the middle of the night. The add said only breakfast was available but there was a resturant on site with good food (steak and pasta primarily) at average prices while other choices are limited in the immediate area. Comfortable, clean, quiet. Bathroom was in like new condition. Comfortable bed. Easy and short drive (less than 6 mi.) to downtown. Continental breakfast included. Would have liked some whole wheat bread items. Fairly priced. Freindly staff. Free parking. Would stay here again.

I didn't feel like a large steak and potato type meal so I opted for the "calmar steak" appetizer and "seared tuna encrusted with sesame seeds". The appetizer was a slice of white material that could have been cut from the side of a squid, but I coudn't tell because it was battered like a chicken wing and served in a pool of the lemon sauce you find […] in bad Chinese food. The main dish was a slice of defrosted tuna with a glued-on coating of sesame seeds unlike anything I had ever seen before. The "wasabi cream sauce" appeared to have been squeezed (grudgingly) from a tube and the butternut squash risotto was a wierd metallic-tasting mush. The coffee at the end of the meal was cold. It was so far beyond bad that all I could feel at the end was sympathy for the waiters and waitresses that had to serve this cartoon-quality food. BTW, next night I drove into town and ate twice as well for half the price at one of the Syracuse's excellent restaurants. How the one in this hotel stays in business is completely beyond me. Excellent location, only 2/10 of a mile from closest entrance to the Fair. Excellent accommodations. Nice to have the free continental breakfast and coffee. The only way they could improve anything would be to allow small pets but I suppose one can't have everything.

We were quite impressed with the quiet of our room. This hotel is located right next to a railroad, yet we heard nothing. It is the most convenient hotel to the Syracuse Fairgrounds yet we heard no traffic noise from either State Fair Boulevard or Interstae 690/695.

The Inn at the Fairgrounds was very close to the area I needed. I was disappointed in the lack of people at the desk at anytime to check in, check out, or ask any questions.
