Overall I was not impressed with the condition of the hotel. My room had a large red stain on the carpet. When I notified the front desk the response I received was "I will make note of that for housekeeping". I would have thought that asking if I would like to switch rooms would have been much more appropriate. The door to the room was broken at the […] bottom so you could see through to the hallway and the bathroom door looked like a dog had scratched at it for hours. The location was convenient, however the traffic noise in the back of the hotel was very loud and we had difficulty sleeping. The pillows were terrible. Even with 4 pillows each our heads were still not cushioned. The shower stall is so small that even I (a petite woman) had trouble fitting into it and not bumping my arms on the wall and the only place […] to put your shampoo and soap was on the floor of the shower which made it even more cramped. The place had all that you needed and was comfortable and clean. The room was bigger then average, free internet and had a free breakfast. Other people we know stayed at the same time also in South Bend and payed 2x as much and did not get anything better. I will stay here again.

Based on previous reviews of this hotel I suspect I had a bit of bad luck, but my experience is all I have to go on. The reception staff there when I arrived and the following day weren't overly friendly, which I was surprised by since reviews I'd read said that they're enthusiastic about dogs (one with me). The room itself was larger than average. […] (I had a room with 2 double beds with plenty of room to spare.) What put me off was the fact that traditional bedspreads covered both beds which always makes me pause as they notoriously (by many hotels in my experience) don't appear to have been cleaned between guests. I found several long blonde hairs on the bed I used. I realize that most hotels that accept pets assign certain rooms to them, and I accept that these will not be the best rooms on offer for obvious reasons. But cleanliness really is an issue for me when I find multiple human hairs on the bed upon arrival. I also found a hair on my plate during breakfast, but to be fair it could have been already on me from the room. We didn't leave the room early enough for staff to clean the hotel after the first night so to be clear they really didn't have the chance to remedy the situation. Having said all that, the morning we left there appeared to be what I think could have been the owners, and they were very friendly and quite unlike the staff I'd seen there before then. everything was great. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The only issue was the suite which had all most no divider between that and the bedroom. Even a privacy screen would have been nice for the third guest who slep on the sleeper sofa.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Comfort Inn. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and the room was very comfortable. Also, the ease to get to such destinations as Notre Dame and the mall was also a plus.

This hotel was a mixed bag. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The whole hotel, including our rooms, felt welcoming and bright. And our dog was welcomed. It should have been a great experience. But there were 4 main areas that fell dramatically short of average. 1) Our room was not thoroughly cleaned. It appeared that the staff was short-handed […] or lazy, for the main surfaces had been wiped, the bedding was clean and the main traffic areas of the carpet had been vacuumed. But there was hair and dirt in the hard-to-reach places around the furniture. Carpet fibers and even a few dust bunnies I might not have minded. That happens in an unoccupied room. But hairs should not have been there. Those should easily have been vacuumed up in a regular after-stay cleaning. Also, there was a message scrawled on the bathroom mirror that appeared only after a shower. Obviously when the mirror didn't appear dirty, the cleaning people skipped it - Windex would have eliminated any old messages. 2) Many badly-done repairs or neglected problems stood out all over. The tub and surround had been caulked & recaulked numerous times, with grout still crumbling. Our door did not fit the frame - there was a gap. Wallpaper and paint peeled in the rooms and in the halls. 3)The walls seemed tissue thin. I heard every sound in the halls and next door - all night long. We had to stop at a hotel on our way home because of weather conditions. This last minute stop was well worth the rate. The room was nice and comfortable. The pool was nice as well. No room service was the only downside. But there were places around the hotel and delivery services as well. I would be fine stayin in this place again.

The price was great for the hotel. This hotel wasn't as close to interstate 80 as I thought it would be. There were a bunch of restaurants which was such a convinced since the continental breakfast wasn't the best. The eggs were cold. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly, so overall I guess I can't complain in the end.

The hotel provided a wonderful dinner spread on Friday night which was delicious and very much appreciated. While the location of the hotel is convenient and the clerk at the front desk helpful, this couldn't make up for the filthy condition of the room. There was what appeared to be dried feces on the toilet seat and the shower was mildew infested.

Great place to stay for an ND game. Very close to campus. Many fans stay here and the management does their best to provide a space for social gatherings. Other than having an accessible room with a bathroom that provided access but little convenience for non-handicapped individuals, this hotel is quite adequate for weekend football games. We have stayed in this hotel several times in the past 5 years due to it's proximity to Notre Dame and it's suite rooms. - 2 beds and a pullout couch. The hotel started out great but has aged quickly and maintenance has not been top priority. The bathtub in our room needed caulking. The rugs vacuuming and updating. The pullout couch had wrinkled sheets […] that we weren't sure were clean. The blanket for the pullout couch had gum embedded in the fibers. The sauna although a nice addition did not work very well- very drafty from the crack under the door and it did not heat up for quite a while. Elevators small and creaky. The hotel was great, they have friendly staffs especially the ladies providing breakfast in the morning. All their staffs’ are nice and talk to you with a smile on their face. The room was clean and smell nice :) I really like that. My boys also enjoyed the pool.
