The hotel staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. We stayed in the main house and the rooms were spacious and very clean!!! I would absolutely stay at The Yankee Peddler the next time I am visiting the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Generally good accommodations --- a tad shabby and noisy during the day ... however night time was quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect B&B in excellent location!"

Before booking the Yankee Peddler, I was a little nervous because I read a few negative reviews. I can't understand why anyone would write something negative about this cute, quaint, historic B & B. The location cannot be beat as it's within walking distance to the wharf and waterfront. The rooms were spacious with private bathrooms and very clean. There is a breakfast provided every morning but we didn't take advantage of that so I cannot speak to the quality. Yankee Peddler even has a cute rooftop deck with beautiful potted plants & lights surrounding it! I loved this place and will definitely be back.
"Nice B&B in Newport"

We only stayed one night in the Yankee Peddler and enjoyed it because of its good location (5 min. walk to harbor and main street), the friendly staff and the size of our room. Decoration was nice, facilities good (albeit a bit older - e.g. the somewhat noisy air conditioning). The breakfast was good - continental but good choice. Overall a charming place to stay.

My wife and I found this B&B venue on the web. It was perfect. Roof Top patio was ideal for evening drinks and views of Narragansett Harbor. Staff & Service was first rate. Walking distance to most attractions, bars, eateries. If any of my friends were to ask for advice on where to stay in Newport, the Yankee Peddler Inn would get my nod.

My husband and I just returned from an unexpected overnight stay in Newport, after making an unplanned stop for lunch yesterday. The weather was soooo gorgeous, after my husband rode his bike in the rain for two straight days doing the PMC in Mass., this past weekend, that we decided to enjoy ourselves, the breeze, the view and the sunshine, and not rush home! We popped in to a few B & B's along and around Thames, and ultimately decided on the Yankee Peddler as Meg (I think?) was so welcoming and informative when we stopped in. The YP was also the most reasonably priced. We were given the option of two rooms in the main house, and ultimately chose #14 on the third floor. Rather spacious considering its third floor location, and perfect for our needs. We simply needed a place to stay. Yes, the bathroom was very small, but it's an old house. The room was spotless. The bed was fine, as were the pillows. The only very small complaint is the AC - every time the condenser kicked on it was loud. It was cool enough that we finally just put it on fan, but if you're a light sleeper beware. Other than that the room was perfect for our needs.. The Inn itself seemed lovely and extremely well kept for an old home. We personally liked the basement common area. We were able to grab a snack and tea after dinner, and there was plenty of seating for guests. I believe it was Meg who checked us in - she was very helpful recommending places to eat, and after a sail on the harbor, we checked out Pour Judgement on Broadway - Excellent! If you're the type that likes regular hotels all of the time, this probably isn't for you. But if you like old homes with all the inherent quirks that come with them, then consider the Yankee Peddler. Warm hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and perfect location to explore Newport!!!!!
"Great stay, and amazing location!"

My wife and I stayed here two weeks ago for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We booked it through American Express Travel as it was highly recommended through them. We arrived a few hours early and we given a parking pass for the lot and told we could walk around the town for a bit and come back in a couple hours and our room would be ready. The walk to everything is SO easy! Such a great location to get to everywhere. We went to lunch came back and our room was ready. We stayed in room 15 in the Carriage house. Great room, clean, cozy and air conditioned! The only downfall was the bed, super hard and not very comfortable. The staff was super helpful and always said hello! The rooftop deck is amazing and the two nights we stayed there we spent at least an hour before dinner having a few drinks and talking with other guests. Super fun trip and great B&B. Highly recommended!

If you're thinking of visiting Newport, this is a good choice. We stayed in the main house and had a lovely time. Excellent location and lots of attention to detail. I especially enjoyed the little basement room for breakfast and cheese and wine in the afternoon.

And it was not historic....just old, lacked charm. The main house rooms might be okay but there are no real public rooms there other than the basement breakfast room so the bedrooms line the entry hallway and you check in in the back of the house at a small desk near the parking lot in the back. Not a bad location and it's not a chain but that's about it. It was a little cheaper than other b and b's but next time I'd cough up another $50 and aim higher.
"Quaint surroundings and perfect location."

I recently stayed at The Yankee Peddler Inn in Newport. It was only my second experience with a B & B and I must say, I was not disappointed. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and quaint. It was perfect for me, just outside of the hubbub of the waterfront area but close enough to walk to almost anywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the "continental breakfast" was pleasantly substantial. The complimentary wine and cheese on Friday and Saturday evenings were just what I needed after arriving from a six- hour drive. I would definitely recommend the Inn and I hope to return in the future.
"Simple Inn with great hospitality!"

We are touring the area in HD and were therefore looking for a simple and neat hotel. Location is great, beds are perfect, roof terasse for a final drink late evening very welcoming...great place! Breakfast is simple. Hospitality is very welcoming.
"Nice place to enjoy Newport"

We spent two nights at the Inn...Thursday and Friday. It is well situated in the heart of Newport with easy walking access to food and shopping. Our room was right off the reception desk and quite unique. It had two levels...first floor level had a kitchen area, bath, and living area. A set of stairs took you down to the basement level with two bedrooms. It was more than we needed, but nice to have. Of note, there was free bottled water throughout the room...a big plus. The room itself was a little worn, but it is close to 200 years old so cut some slack here. Parking is tight, but they have a system (double parking the last 6 cars) which worked for us. Breakfast was pretty simple, but filled us up until lunch. The hostess at breakfast mentioned they were having cookies that night but my wife told her we would be out. Wouldn't you know that we came back to find a plateful of cookies in our room (very, very good cookies). I guess that is the point I would stress...the inn is a little old, but any wear and tear is easily made up for by the friendly and helpful staff. Bottom line - if you prefer a Marriott, then stay in the Marriott (we stayed there as well and it is nice). However, if you are looking for an escape to Newport, then book the Yankee Peddler and relax. By the way, the Inn also has a very nice rooftop deck which is perfect for a nightcap and a chance to talk with some of the other guests. We spent some time with a lovely couple from Philadelphia and would have talked with them well in to the night, but my wife thought he was going to "pop the question" so we left them to the night...hopefully he stepped up to the plate, but if not, he reads this and gets on with it. All in all - very satisfied.
