"Great Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
A clean/comfortable room, wifi and a hot shower is all I need and the Econo Lodge provided that. I needed a late checkout and the hotel was very accommodating. Thank you, I will stay here again.

Satisfied overall except one problem in the bathroom, toilet tissue roller is missing & i don't know why they didn't notice it or why the housekeeper didn't report it.

"Not Impressed"
While Bally's has an excellent location on the Boardwalk, staying at The Claridge was not a good experience. The check in was fine and we went to our rooms. The room was ok but not very clean. Dust on the lamps, cobwebs on the fan in the bathroom, missing tiles, etc. The other room had water leaking from the ceiling and they tried putting my in laws […] in another room in another building. Once we complained they miraculously had another room two doors down. We were misinformed about the food and beverage credit we received when we booked the rooms. Needless to say we did not use it. We were told there was a restaurant open 24 hours on the six floor. It was not the case. In each room there was a room service menu with the hours clearly stated 11:30 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. That was not the case. We complained to the front desk(in person after they did not answer the phone) and she informed us that they changed the hours a week ago and were in the process of putting stickers on the menus. Really! Have a flyer printed up and put in every room, something to inform the guests. And then they charge you ten dollars to use the pool. Overall it was not a good experience. I have stayed at the Showboat and everything was great. My rooms were paid for too, they were not comps. If Bally's is going to have the Claridge open to guests they should take a look around and see what they can improve on to make their guests stays memorable. Read more
"No free wifi"
The room was dated with a lot of wasted space. The bathroom was way to small, check-in to forever and there was no free wifi.
"Close to all necessary attractions"
Avoid check in at 4pm- over 2 hour wait to check in! Put our bags back in the car and started the fun immediately. By 7pm, there was no line and our room was great.
"Not very impressed"
We decided to extend our stay in Atlantic City for one night at the last minute. We could not keep our room at Caesar's and were happy to find a room at all since it was a Friday and there was an event going on that evening. However, we paid quite a lot for an older room with a very grungy bathroom. Also, I spent an hour on the phone trying to get the […] wifi set up which worked perfectly at Caesar's. Instead of offering to come to the room, they actually had me trying to pull out furniture to fix the router. We never did get it working. The receptionist was very nice but overall, we decided it would have been better if we went home instead of staying here. Read more
"What happened to Bally's"
I have stayed at Bally's a few times, and I had no complaints. I was not satisfied with my stay this time. There were big spots on the carpet that should have been concealed. The bathroom was really small and hard to maneuver in. The pool was closed when I went.
I booked Bally's hotel for myself and 2 friends. We booked 3 rooms each with a king bed and requested adjoining rooms or rooms close to each other. Upon our arrival we were told that 1 room was on a totally different floor from the other 2 and none of the rooms had king beds. We were put in the Claridge Tower, not Bally's which we booked. One room didn't […] even have a light in it. A drinking glass remained infront of my friends room for the entire 2 night stay. The bathtubs were unclean and their were stains around the outside of the tub. The bedsheets dragged on the floor and were way oversized for the beds and the room itself was not very clean. We were very disappointed and were going to find another hotel but paid for this trip well in advance. Read more
"Toxic room, poor service, avoid staying here."
I booked my room in Bally's. Stood in line for over an hour to check in, as they had only 1 person at the desk and 5 non operational kiosks. This was the worst bait and switch I've ever experienced. I booked a tower room (confirmed by this website). they put me in a room in the old adjoining Claridge. I knew something was wrong the minute I stepped […] in the room. It smelled really bad. When I turned on the lights, there was mold everwhere. Mold growing on the desk chair. Mold growing on the ceiling. I opened the window and the window fell out of the frame. You just can't make this stuff up. So I went down to the desk and stood in line again. They agreed to upgrade me to another room. I told them any CLEAN room would be fine so long as it was non-smoking. They agreed but would not give me the keys to the new room until I went back to the old room and retrieved my luggage. So I went back and then had to stand in line for another 1/2 hour. The next room was indeed in the tower. Unfortunately, it was on the smoking floor. Room needed a makeover and smelled like smoke but at least it did not have mold everywhere. I took pictures of the problems in the first room for documentation in case anyone at this website cares. Clearly, Bally's staff did not. I would never go back there again. Read more
I had a fantastic stay and look forward to many more. I lost my cell phone and the hotel security found it and shipped it to my home in Maryland.
"Do not stay there"
It was horrible - room was terrible, was going to be late for a spa appointment because of change of room. Staff at front desk told us they would contact spa and there was no problem. However, spa cut appointment short, billed for full price, yet acknowledged they received the call. Plus spa was not even busy. Second replacement room was just as bad […] a first. Water did not drain from tub, entire room stunk like stale smoke, room was hot, bed linens soiled, mold in shower... horrible Read more

"very convienant to all casinos"
I enjoyed my stay. It was my first time in atlantic city, the only things that I was not happy with was my room window was facing the back of buildings, so I had a terrible view. Also, the water took forever to get hot, couldn't take a hot bath or shower, it was luke warm, so that was very disappointing!
"bad"
Don't book at the Ballys hotel and think you will stay there. They own other older hotels that are not good.Clariton for one.

"Room was a disappointment"
We spent thee nights at Bally's and the overall experience was good. The pool is large and relaxing. My only disappointment was with the room. I figured I would go for the room priced at the midpoint and midweek. I thought it would be comfortable. The sitting area was a small table and two kitchen type chairs. The photo showed two arm chairs. The window […] view did not exist, there was a film over the window which made it impossible to see out... this was really bad. You had to walk out of the hotel to see if it was sunny or cloudy. They also mentioned $20 back on food and beverage. After calling Hotels.com and Bally's it took 20 min to find out it was not per night but for the stay. that should be noted on the website along with the fact that the money is good at only a handful of places at Bally's. I will say that the entire staff from desk workers to housekeeping were extremely friendly. The room was a sorry case though. Read more
"Relaxed Feeling, Best Casino"
Parking- Quick, nearby; Check-in- fast, easy; Room- Clean, neat , missed some things left in the freezer from previous guests; Atmosphere- excellent. The casino staff were helpful and always kind. If you're looking for more of a party... Saturday night seems to be what's up. Excellent location.

"great room"
Our stay was very nice. The check in desk was somewhat rude and not very understanding. We were placed on the casino level which was both great and horrible. The great part was, obviously, the distance to everything. The bad part was there was a lot of noise from roudy and loud people who were not booked in our wing, but who were just roaming around. […] The room was BEAUTIFUL! But the A.C. Wasn't as powerful as it should have been. My advice: bring a fan and your stay will be amazing! Read more
"Close to the broad walk, that all"
I have to say that when you think of Bally's you think of a great name, but first when we had to check in , I was not sure if I was checking in the hotel or I was that the airport, the line was just as long. Then when I checked in, I asked if i had a view and I was told yes, but when I went to the room, it was a view of the Parking Gargage. I did got […] down in the next morring and changed rooms. When I did change room, we had a good view, and the bed was very comfortable. Read more
"Ballys"
This hotel is in a good location and close to the boardwalk, which I liked it. I am not satisfied about the maintenance and cleanliness of the room. I would rocommend this hotel to the others, if room conditions are improved.
Non smoking br smells like cigarrette. Swimmng pools have no water. Then we have to pay to use the only available pool... definitely our first and last stay there,
"Claridge Hotel Ballys"
Didn't like this placement at Claridge, I would've really felt better in any Ballys Tower as I reserved! Too me Claridge is like a low budget place, amenities not as extravagent as Ballys, none of my friends liked this hotel stay period!
"Bally's Atlantic City"
Definitely not business traveler friendly. No desk. High fees for WiFi.
The service was horrible...i booked a double bed room and when i got there i will told it's not available and was given a pull out bed and a cot...i was so embarrassing i felt like i was disrespect, the stuff was rude...I will NEVER stay at this hotel again...i am still furious

"Bally's in Atlantic City - you can do better"
Once again, I visited Atlantic City NJ for a conference, and once again we stayed at Bally's. This property is really starting to show its age. Aside from the slight shabbiness of the place, a few things really irked me. My organization had probably 400+ rooms over three days. You would think that they would include Internet as part of the package deal. […] I understand that its a casino, and they want you gambling, not surfing the net. But in this day and age, charging $13.00 for Internet access for a group that you know is there on business, not pleasure, is shortsighted. I was told that attempts to add it were refused. This will be remembered next year. I bet the Borgata would like to get our business... Read more
"HAD A GREAT TIME & WILL BE BACK"
Everything was fine - the staff was friendly. I was given a room that had been recently upgraded (I could tell because I was there last year and the room I had was not impressive). The staff responded quickly to any of my needs and its location on The Boardwalk is prime. Thank you Bally's for a great time.!!!
"Bally's Atlantic City - close to everything"
Its walking distance to the outlets - just 2 blocks. Attached to Caesars, so you don't even have to walk outside to get to the Pier Shops. If you want to use the pool, its $10/room for 4 per day. Not so bad, that way its not crowded. We didn't know this. Will definitely be back.
"okay"
Good stay, just wish the pool and gym had better hours. I was in ac for a conference and the hours were not convenient.
"Bally's Hotel in Atlantic is the best"
All I have to say is I'll be back in two weeks
"You get what you pay for"
I was late checking in not arriving until 4:15am Tues morning and had to wait 45 minutes for my room as the computers were downloading. My convention started at 7:30am so I got a nap. That eve when I had planned to bike on the boardwald I found out limited hours 6am to 8am only for biking. The pool was closed and I do not know what happened to the fitness […] center. The hotel itself is older, but the crevice tool needed to be used as dust lined all the surfaces where the walls met the floors. There was a beer bottle cap behind my nightstand where it still remains I'm sure. The dead bolt was never repaired ... I reported it Tuesday night. Room service was exceptionally quick, but the trays remained for over 24 hours in the halls. No room service that day or the next. I'm surprised I did not see roaches. (I was looking). I was warned not to wander off the main streets. The service at Harrys Oyster Bar was only saved by the young woman behind the bar who stepped up to wait on me as the bartender totally ignored me & waited on a gentleman who came inl after me. Kudoos to the barmaid. I have travelled extensively, and would be looking to try over hotels. Price was good, room had a view of the ocean. A iittle loud as older hotels tend to have less insulation in the walls; average for a mid week stay. Location was great as you could walk everywhere. Bus station in the floor level of the hotel is great if you don't want to drive. Overall rating 2.5. Single Woman Traveler Read more
"Bad lighting and bad sound control"
The lighting was terrible in my room. The light switches have different settings, but none made a difference and the room stayed dark. I heard every sound in the hallway and next door. The cleaning ladies in the hallway weren't that loud, but I could hear them talking, the spraying of cleaning products, and pushing of the cart. Once the room was occupied […] next door, I heard every sound and conversation. No free WiFi? I can understand they want you gambling instead of on the Internet, but to charge $12 for 24 hours is ridiculous. I would never stay at this hotel again. Read more

"Pretty Good Hotel"
Pretty good hotel to stay at. Just had one issue with house keeping knocking on my door at 9am trying to come in the room while my girlfriend and I were sleeping. They tried coming in twice and told them we were still in the room. The indoor pool is really nice! Got there at 6pm and they told us they closed at 6:30pm. So we got to swim a little bit. […] Check-in line was a long line. I'd suggest going through the self check-in next to the front check-in counter. Overall stay was nice. Close to the boardwalk and easy access. Read more
"Vile"
If you like the show Dexter, stay at Bally's. You'll see all sorts of weird stains that look like they came from that show. Also, the sink and tub wouldn't drain, so enjoy taking a shower in standing water. Overall, this place is worse than a hotel airport in Knoxville.
"We won't stay there again"
If you want to "just" gamble and you are drunk, then maybe it will not bother you, BUT, if you want to have a clean and fairly modern room(especially for the cost) then pick another hotel. The room service absolutely stinks, either I was on hold or they didnt answer at all. They are not "crystal clear" about where you can use your comp money in the […] hotel and the walk from the self parking garage to the hotel with luggage felt like a mini marathon with people walking into you. "No sound proofing"
We stayed one night to see a concert at Boardwalk Hall. The room had been updated, but not the bathroom. There was a long black streak mark above the bed and the bathroom was really small. At 4am when the people in the next room came home, we could hear their conversations. Nothing was even muffled. There was also a lot of noise coming in from the […] hall. The room had no sound proofing. We did not get much sleep. The check in/out was difficult. We waited in line for an hour to check in and out. When I asked to speak with the a supervisor about the noisy room, I had to wait another 20 minutes to see a supervisor. The supervisor said he was sorry, and would send maintenance to the room to check the sound proofing. However, he didn't offer to comp anything on our bill. Read more

Stayed at Ballys for a girls weekend. We had a Blast!!! Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. We had a problem with our toliet and someone was up within the next 5 minutes to fix it.. "Very Disappointed"
When we arrived at the hotel, the line to check in was very long and it took over an hour to get checked in. The room was clean and the hotel itself was decent enough. "Never again"
I would never ever stay here again. I waited way way to long to check in and out. The hotel has held $100 on my bank account for no reason and will not release it until 10 days after my check out!!! Dirty, old, very dated. Clearly the "ghetto" hotel on the bad side of the boardwalk.
