When we arrived I was hoping for the Ballys tower after reading other reviews. We checked in late, around 7pm and were given "one of their nicer" rooms on the 40ish floor in the Ballys tower. The views over the ocean and boardwalk were stunning. The room was a smoking room (we had requested non-smoking) but were told if it was too bad we could change or have an ozone machine run. The smell wasn't so bad but we requested an ozone machine to be run whilst we were out to dinner to clear up any stale smoke smells before bed and this was carried out for us. The staff were helpful and the room was clean. The only downside I would say was that you could hear voices from the locked adjoining room but I think this is fairly common in hotels and I would totally recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Atlantic City, it seemed the best all round by far.

I know that hotels go through needed improvements, construction, etc. I arrived at the hotel to find wet paint signs on the elevstors, sawdust in the hallway adjecent to my room, wallpaper that needed to be redone, etc. I would love to stay there again, course I am going to check and make sure to call Bally's and make sure they are done with their repairs, painting etc before booking a room there.

The TV check out did not work, 12 dollers per day for internet service and they blocked my lap top air card. Could have gone to a comfort inn and gotten a room just as good for half the price. The food was average at best. If your goal is a weekend of money blowing, this is your place!

We stayed in the Claridge Tower at Bally's, which was OK (at best) for the lodging fee we paid. There was a basketball sized white stain on the carpet and some sort of stain on one of the chairs in the room. The bathroom was out of date. It seemed to have a mild smoky-musky scent (non-smoking room). The bed was nice and any traveler knows that is the most important thing and we only planned to be in the room to sleep. The real kicker was that I booked (and PAID for) two (2) "identical" rooms for the same price (all on one bill from Hotels.com). Our second party arrived a few hours after we did and the room they recieved was in a seperate tower and was essentially a "junior suite" in the Bally's tower; it was 50% bigger, with a fridge (we were suppossed to have one - we didn't), a beautiful view and everything was nicer (the chairs, the lamps, the air and especially the batheroom). I was furious with envy. Oh well. We had a good time anyway.

If Bally's will put you in the Clariton...be careful. This part of the hotel is old and outdated. The bathrooms are tiny and most of the surfaces are badly worn - there were even cigaret burn marks on the toilet seat cover. The gym is horrific and discusting. It looked like the cardio machines hadn't been wiped down in years and there is practically no equipment. Worst of all, the gym closes at 6:30, which is early if you are working a convention...

The Bally's Atlantic City has three towers - the Bally, Dennis, and Claridge towers. I stayed in the Claridge, which I guess they keep as the "cheap" option. After reading other reviews on the site, I was a little concerned about the hotel in general, and the Claridge tower specifically. The Claridge tower desperately needs a makeover. The carpets were dingy, and had water stains. The rooms and floors smelled musty. The TV was an older set (the other towers had flat-screens). Fortunately, I had a large room on the corner overlooking the ocean, so the view was nice. The bathroom was tiny. The hotel itself wasn't much better. The main level (casino) floors were filled with slot machines. Since the smoking and non-smoking sections were not really separated, the entire casino floor smelled of smoke. To make matters worse, I saw smokers in the non-smoking sections - there was no enforcement. The restaurants within the hotel were very overpriced. I miss the inexpensive buffets you can find in Vegas. The only exceptions are the Johnny Rocket's and the 6ix restaurant (if you get their special). Finally, the hotel really needs to rethink their internet access fees. They are horridly expensive.

Read reviews before we picked and stayed - it's not as dingy or scary or dirty as they said. My biggest complaint is the lack of signage and help. The 6th floor has lots of restaurants - well - its NOT attached to Claridge tower and if you try and hit '6th floor' on the elevator it just doesn't work. No way to know this unless you ask the less than helpful 'guest services'. We did eventually find it. We also asked how to get to the Aces train - they couldn't provide us with solid directions or even a helpful map! Like we are the ONLY ones using the Aces train?? Plus - express check-out - no need to wait in line.
