Always the last thing that happens is the first to be reported; Checking out, the receptionist says there are 2 coffees ordered at breakfast which need to be payed for (less than ten dollars not a great amount, but I have issues with this on principal - where's the hospitality? It must have checked out as well). So I said, surely you're going to waive […] the coffee considering i've just spent several thousand here over the weekend. He seemed to type away at the keyboard for well over 30 seconds and said no, looking at me reminiscent of Little Britain's "Computer says no". Booked 5 villas in total. All rooms were clean, spacious and well presented. Depite the stupid check-out event, I would probably go there again. Great spot, roads wrap around the hill and the villas hug the cliff face in places like the lodges at Thredbo. Read more

As we were attending a wedding I asked for a 2pm check in but this request was not met - disappointing.Room had 2 bedrooms and bathrooms so would be good value for a couple sharing or a family.

Have been a regular visitor to stay and play golf for 10 yrs. Room was great but on arrival to 2 bedroom room, one room was locked and also the electricity did not come on. Both required attention from staff with a switch outside room needing to be turned on for electricity. Bit of a hassle. The golf experience was also not quite right. I had read the reviews on here, and found them to be one extreme to the other, so I figured if Cypress Lakes faired in the middle, I'd be happy! But it was much better than that! The villa was excellent... Plenty of room, well equipped, VERY comfortable! Next time I'd bring more food and eat in, because it had a full kitchen! The restaurant was great […] though, very family friendly. The kids' meals had great variety... More than just nuggets and chips! Staff were very friendly and helpful too. I'd definitely go again! The boys absolutely LOVED the pool, and they were welcome to play tennis. I've been to resorts where they wouldn't allow children on the courts! Read more

This is such a beautiful location with great things to do for the whole family. Shame the room did not match the high reputation of the resort! We stayed here about 7 years ago and it was fabulous! This time we noticed how run down the rooms have become. Apart from the cobwebs everywhere, the outdoor furniture was broken and mouldy, the kitchen had […] only a handful of cooking utencils, not exactly clean, a delapidated dishwasher, almost no cleaning aids or cloths and a broken bin. The TV & cable menu sounded great, but we did not get half the channels and the reception was fuzzy. The shower in the ensuite was really in need of a good scrub and some mould remover! On the up side, the beds were comfortable although the quilts were not in covers, just sandwiched between two sheets? I would recommend the location but pay a bit more perhaps for a more updated room. This room would suit blokes going on golf weekends with no airs or graces! Certainly not for families! Read more

Travelling with husband, daughter and her partner I booked a villa. It had good living space downstairs with a kitchen, dining space, lounges and even a little gas 'open fire'. Upstairs were two ensuites bedrooms with king beds. There were also decks off one of the bedrooms and the living space. Parking was little away from the villa, but not too far. The […] restaurant at the resort was a little way away but there is a shuttle service which was very prompt. The restaurant meal was good. Service was a bit of an issue - drinks orders were taken at the start of the ordering process, but when we wanted another bottle of wine as our meals arrived we were told to go to the bar. I had to make a booking in the Hunter Valley for myself, my husband and my two small children under ten. After reading some reviews on Cypress Lakes I was apprehensive. I thought the staff would be very rude and that the accommodation wouldn't be up too standard. However from the time of check-in until check-out the staff were absolutely lovely, they […] were friendly to my children and accommodating with transportation and bedding arrangement's in our rooms. We stayed in a two bedroom villa with breakfast daily. The breakfast was wonderful and i'm happy we included it in our package. Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley is amazing, it's relaxing and picturesque for the adults with still plenty to see and do for the kids, including the chocolate shop, aqua golf and the Hunter Valley gardens just to name a few. I will admit that the rooms do need updating, however overall a pleasant experience would be great to stay there in summer and would definitely recommended in to other families. Read more

I'm not a complainer. And if I don't like something I won't go back. But I will make the 'writing' exception in this case. Very disapointed and so not a 4.5 star hotel. Not even close. We came up to the Hunter for our wedding anniversary and enjoyed our time at the restaurants and tasting rooms. It's good we spent so much time away from this hotel .. […] But now for this place. Let's put aside the outdated decor .. ugly drapes ... the real 'crappy' tv .. the hard bed .. the running taps in two bathrooms ... the refrigerator that was balanced with cardboard ... the hot water system that almost gave me second degree burns .. What really 'ticked me off' was the phone call from a women at 11:02 reminding us that we needed to check out at 11:00. Now we were just about all packed up, and out of the room, but what nerve and the lack of hospitality. I've NEVER had this kind of lack of hospitality from any class hotel or resort I've ever stayed at .. and we travel a lot. My wife and I have stayed at another 'real' resort and conference centre twice in the past 10 months and wanted another experience so we chose Cypress .. Bad decision. The manangment team realnly need to consider uping your game. I meet a lot of people each week and will probably go out of my way to NOT recommend your hotel. Putting a Vogue magazine in every room doesn't make for a 4.5 star rating. Read more
