Ibis Glasgow City Centre - Glasgow

We flew to Scotland from Sweden to attend a concert in Glasgow. The Ibis was in the perfect location for it: just a 20 minute stroll to the venue (Òran Mór) and to Queen Street train station and about 2 minutes to the lively Sauchiehall street for restaurants, shopping and pubs. On returning for our 2nd night(prepaid) We found ourselves back on 6th floor- and finding the chemical odor still strong we asked for another room and were given the only room- on a floor being worked on-our room the only one untouched.It was dirty(floors were what they were doing.) but the bed was sloped on the edges and carpet men worked early .. […] Ibis is known for environmental concern- We have always liked Ibis cleanliness. They need to use safer chemical and close down the floor being worked on. They must require ventilation of the floor(said by law they could not open fire doors.We did not enjoy our stay. It will be unnoticeable once the chemical clear and the facility will be nice but the service attitude remains. Read more

While we understand carpets must be cleaned and replaced- A floor should be shut down during this process. We were checked into a 6th floor room -when the elevator door opened-the chemicals in the air assalted- opening the door to the room was worse. We immediately asked for another room.-4th floor Room was fine-bed comfy but next day the workers appeared […] on that floor. We asked to store luggage and get assigned another for the next night.(if not prepaid we would have left) We ate in the restaurant the first night. After sitting maybe 1/2 hour-no one in the bar , I noticed someone enter order a pizza at the bar and sit down. I went up and in another ten minutes got a desk persons attention and asked about ordering-she took my order. The other customer got his pizza ate his pizza and left and our order was still not out. I asked again still a wait and it came -obvious meat pie that was microwaved from frozen. No excuse for such lack of service. Very displeased with stay.Very far away from train station- told- 15 minute walk- we walked uphills with all luggage over a mile. We asked desk about buses and were told nothing helpful or close. We stayed on the 5th floor and it was always hot and muggy in the halls and the air conditioner was poor in the room. It was more than cool outside so we were able to sleep. There is a lot of noise from the street with the window open. Other than that things were fine. We stayed 7 nights and we never use housekeeping. High marks for allowing us to check in hours early since we had just arrived on a red eye from the US. Our room was a nice size and had a nice comfy bed. Though staff were friendly I would not stay here again. The room wasn´t clean and after having to change rooms due to a smokey smell and stained bedsheets, we found that the overall cleanliness wasn´t up to our standards. The location of the hotel is okay, I just didn´t find my stay here comfortable.

For the price of the stay, I wasn't really expecting much. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious and clean, leaving no severe room for complaint. The staff were friendly but irritated me slightly with their need to ID me every single time I went to buy a drink. The hotel seemed quite out the way on the way there but after […] a day or 2 we realised we were quicker traveling down Sauchiehall Street as West Regent street is very hilly and annoying to travel from the train station on foot. The bar is fairly pricey but the hotel is barely 2 minutes from Wetherspoons so it's not far to go for a cheep drink. Close to King Tutts, The O2 ABC, The Garage and a variety of gig venues and lovely restaurants. Cars and people are loud at night at night and in the morning so not recommended if you don't stay near roads normally. Breakfast was pricey but very good. TV access is very limited but movie package is ace. Read more

The room 602 was a disabled room which I did not need. The curtain fell off the rail no privacy as the window looked right into the offices opposite. There was no hair dryer in the room as promised. the tv remote did not work at all. Breakfast was not worth £15 for the 2 of us. I look forward to your comments.

We were looking for a place close to Sauchiehall St to see a concert, and the Ibis offered a great deal. Parking was pretty expensive, but that's about par for the course for city centres, so that's not really a complaint, just as a "warning" to people who might not anticipate it. Great hotel, pretty close to Glasgow city center. The hotel staff is very friendly and ready to help whenever you need any kind of assistance. The hotel is located 2 blocks away from the bus stop that takes you to the airport.

Hotel is in a good city centry location but off the main drag. Hotel rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need for an overnight stay. Hotel staff were pleasant and very helpful. For the price it was well worth the money.

My favourite choice when visiting Glasgow. Very reasonably priced but also modern, clean and comfortable. They've recently added mattress toppers to the beds which help give a good night's sleep. Great location too which makes for a peaceful stay and easy to get anywhere in the city centre.

The only thing I would say is that the rooms are value for money but usually the price doesn't include breakfast, you can add breakfast on for around £7 which I feel […] is a little over priced. but there is a weather spoons about 30 seconds away just round the corner where u can get a breakfast for half the price so it's not such a problem but if you didn't know your way around the city you may be tempted to just have breakfast in the hotel even though it's quite expensive. Having stayed at this hotel on the 31st December, i wasn't expecting to have the "usual" standards of service, i was wrong. The check in was speedy, the bar was open 24hrs and staff were very friendly. Excellent Hotel and well worth the money for a great city centre location.
