The staff is great, the room was super clean but it was very out dated deco. Just don't expect too much as far as updated modern rooms. The TV is modern, the bathroom is great, just the main room was crowded and felt old. If I was going to an event again at the Caviler, I would stay there but not the first choice.

Organization reserved the Ballroom for the annual Christmas Party attended by 480 personnel. Rooms were offered as a side note. Location was on Virginia Beach, weather cooperated and the furnishings were adequate. Hotel Service at the desk very codial, Valet parking overwhelmed for the start and ending of the party. Our stay was not pleasant. The bathtub faucet leaked constantly even after being repaired. Anything metal in the bathroom or around the door jambs was rusted and stained the surrounding tile and grout in the bathroom. It didn't feel clean - just tired and old.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly. The view of the beach was really awesome, however, the terrace needed to be renovated. It was old concrete and not that appealing.I appreciated that parking was included in the price of my stay.(Bonus)

reserved two rooms for stay after a late afternoon wedding. One of two doubles had extremely spongy mattress/boxspring. Bathroom had worn fixtures and some corrosion (rust) that I'm sure is associated with constant exposure to salt environment directly on the beachfront, but never the less should be taken care of.

The beds were to hard, as well as the pellows. Could be sofer. Screens were in need on the doors of each balcony, to many bugs flying in the room at night. Staff was great. The best I have seen in a very long time. So friendly, from the Vally parking, and the dinning staff, to the fount desk. Love the staff. Thank You.

I live in Missouri and have made Virginia Beach my vacation spot for many years. This is only the second time I have stayed in a hotel, this time at the Cavalier Oceanfront. The property is on the quiet north end, which is very nice. The building and property was nice and clean. The majority of the staff were pretty pleasant to talk with, others need […] improvement. Our first morning, we ate at the hotel, the Sand Dollar at the buffett. The choice of food was pretty slim, no meat offered and the food was warm not hot, but the fruit was pretty good. The service was so-so. Our second night we ate at the hotel once more, while the food was okay, not great by any means, we had the best waitress! Her name is Kendall, so ask for her!!! She made our okay meal well worth it! Both bartenders in the Dolphin Lounge were terrific as well! The game room wasn't that great for 12 yo g-son, the pool area was nice but towels were not looked after and sat for a day in the dirty bin after it rained the night before with no clean ones offered. Several areas to sit in the shade to look at the beach and water. The newspapers were either out of date or empty. Overall, the Cavalier is decent and safe place to stay with or with out family, they just need to improve on the food and the food staff and keep up on the little things! Read more

We had a very good stay at the beach in the off-season. The staff were friendly, and it was great to have a microwave and fridge in the room. Also, our room service breakfast was fast and yummy. We had a great time. The north end of VA beach is lovely, quiet, not crowded. Our only real disappointment was that the older brick building was closed for the season. Hotel was conveniently located on the quiet side of the strip, and offered a nice view of the ocean from the private balcony. The room was clean but the A/C unit needed repair. All employees were friendly and accommodating.

We thought the rooms were rather small comparatively -we had the ocean view rooms - and the beds were lumpy to soft. With two in one bed, we rolled into one another. Very uncomfortable. We also noticed a distinct odor other then the beach on the second floor. It just didn't smell clean.

We checked in around 3 and put our stuff in the room. We then went to find the wine fest which was about 10 blocks away. When we returned and decided to shower the shower sounded like there was a train in our room. Also the tub was very slow to drain. It was late so we didn't want to change rooms. We went out for a late dinner and when we returned we […] had to park on the other side of the street, which seemed like blocks away. Our room was right next to the ice machine. If you've never stayed in a room next to the ice machine make sure you never do. We didn't get much sleep, it's very loud. The hotel it's self was very clean. When checking out I tried to let the front desk know about our issues. The girl at the front desk acted as though I was bothering her. She threw a piece of paper down on the counter and said I could write it down and she'd give it to her manager. I proceeded to just tell her, another woman came from the back and apologized while the girl we were talking to said nothing. We will not return to the hotel! Read more

Great view of ocean., We were on the 9th floor and had a balcony that overlooked the nice quiet neighborhood of North Va Beach. and the ocean. The facilities for families were great: a large outdoor pool, a kiddy pool, play area with sliding boards and swings, a basketball 1/2 court, and a tiled in area for a band and dancing. overall we had a wonderful experience staying at the cavalier. it couldn't be located at a better place-- at the very edge of the boardwalk. that was nice so that if you wanted to lay out on the beach surrounded by little to no crowds, a quick stroll away from the boardwalk was all that was needed. Outside are gazebos, sitting areas and manys showers […] to rinse off the sand. the hotel has a nice length pool, clean, with diving board and ample surrounding chairs. they had bike rentals which i would recommend because the boardwalk's bike path is gorgeous, decorated with lush gardens and sculptures. the hotel staff was exceptional, answering any and all of our questions. the place was clean, wifi was great, coffee maker, fridge, and microwave included, beds were comfortable, but the bathrooms are in need of an update (as far as shower knobs & spout separating from the tile wall). We did not get the chance to dine in at some of the restaurants this place had to offer but just having that choice made for a more convenient restaurant selection. the only complaint would have to be that the hotel only offered basic cable & no hbo or other movie channels. no dvd players were available upon request so you couldn't rent a movie. but all in all, we had a very pleasant stay at the cavalier. The hotel seems to be run-down, with signs of it pretty much everywhere. However, teh location was excellent as we liked that we are on the beach AND a bit remote from the noise (our parents, in their 70s came along).

Couldn't tell if the room linens were unclean or just very old or both. Sand on the floor of my room. Not enough parking when they are wedding attendees and guests competing for spaces. Staff was very nice and helpful. Nice beachfront location.

We enjoyed our stay. At first we were worried about jets flying right over the hotel quite often, but it turned out that they didn't bother us at all. Convenient location, nice room, nice beach. We watched dolphins from our balcony. No problems. Recommended.

Since I had never heard of the Cavalier, I did not know what to expect. We were very pleased. Clean hotel, close enough to the board walk w/o actually being too close to the noisy area. We didn't know what to expect but our stay was very pleasant. The Cavalier is a bit older than older hotels on the strip, but very classy and well maintained. The indoor pool at the older hotel building (and the older building in general) across the street was very cool. The outdoor pool and grassy areas next to the beach were terrific touches. I only stayed one night, so I didn't get a chance to enjoy the full amenities. It had 2 pools, though, one very large kid pool that was nicely fenced off and an adult pool. Beach access was right past that.

OK, THE PLACE SEEMS OLD, BUT IT IS IN A GREAT LOCATION FOR FAMILIES. QUIET BUT STILL CLOSE TO THE BOARDWALK. KIDDIE POOL AND PLAYGROUND, RESTRAUNTS ON SITE. OF COURSE IT COULD USE A LITTLE MORE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP, BUT WE WERE ONLY SLEEPING THERE. ON THE DOWNSIDE, WE DID HAVE AN ISSUE WITH LOSING POWER TO ONE OUTLET AFTER HOURS AND MAINTENANCE CAME […] AND LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS FIXED THE NEXT DAY. ALSO ROOM DIDNT GET CLEANED ONE DAY. WHEN I ASKED FOR TOWELS THE HOUSEKEEPER ASKED IF THE ROOM NEEDED SERVICE. WHEN I TOLD HER JUST THE TRASH NEEDED EMPTIED, SHE HANDED ME A COUPLE OF TRASH BAGS. SO I JUST TOOOK CARE OF IT MYSELF. ALL IN ALL, I HAVE STAYED IN WORSE HOTELS AND BEING RIGHT ON THE BEACH THE PROS OUTWEIGH THE CONS. THE STAFF WAS PRETTY GOOD FOR THE MOST PART. BUT ITS NOT THE HILTON. Read more

The cavalier oceanfront is located on Atlantic ave at almost the end of the Virginia beach strip. While it is very comfortable, clean, with good odor and very nice staff, the wifi connection was poor to almost non existent at times. We weren't able to access the wifi on the beach, which is right next to the hotel.

It is a perfect destination for a family vacation. Room, Services, Cleanliness, Restaurants, Pool and Food Quality were all up to the mark. Broadwalk street is few mins walk from the hotel. Beach is just at the backyard of the hotel. This hotel is located on the 42nd street. Main action and event happens from 34th street onward till the 1st street. […] So if you want to see real action during your stay you may plan for some other beach side hotels between 1st to 34th street. But if you travel with family or need a vacation far away from the city crowd, then this is THE location. We had a very pleasant stay at the Cavalier Oceanfront. The hotel had been recently renovated and was very nice and, most importantly, very clean. All employees were attentive and friendly. Extra towels and roll away bed came very promptly. The concierge recommended a wonderful seafood restaurant.
