I'd never stayed in this hotel so took a gamble based on the previous reviews. I'm glad I booked it now because it's not too bad. Tidy/clean/warm/friendly staff. All you need really for a basic hotel. The dining room is clean and the continentla breakfast was simple but tasty (you can't really make bad toast!) For laptop users, you get 1 hours free wi-fi which is handy. The downside is that I booked it via www.hotels.co.uk and the final price was bumped up dramatically due to 'taxes' whatever the hell they are! Cheek.

The hotel is clean, friendly and in a very good location. The breakfast is basic and the double room was small, but you get what you pay for. It was fine for a short break but for something longer it would be cramped. This is a really basic hotel. The rooms are tiny and their really aren't any amenities to speak of. However, it's clean, serviceable, the staff is friendly and it's CHEAP. With the dollar in its current state London is expensive so finding a hotel deal is key. The area isn't bad. Convenient to a lot of things. There are quite a few small bargain hotels in this neighborhood, some of them quite charming. Look around if you get a chance. If you're looking to save some money and don't mind a basic place with a small room I'd say this hotel isn't a bad bet.

I think we could have handled the fact that the room was unbelievably small if it weren't for the horrible bed which literaly had springs popping out of the mattress. Let's start with the pubic hairs on my sheets. YES, they did not change the sheets on my bed from the previous guest. The room was less than 7' X 10' wide, including the bathroom. If you are taller than 5'9, your feet will hit the wall and you will have to sleep at an angle. The "free internet" is only if you are in the hotel lobby, because they did not have a router that could broadcast further (I was on the 3rd floor). The beds were so old that the springs were coming through the mattress padding in places (my back litterally hurt the following day). The free continental breakfast was cereal and frozen orange juice. It said it lasted from something like 7:00 am to 10:00 am, but when I went down at 9:00, the only thing out was the cereal and I had to ask for something to drink and they brought me a pint of orange juice from frozen concentrate. Yes, to say the least I was very disappointed and stayed the two nights I paid for and then checked out the following day and went to a more expensive hotel. If you can afford better, spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. Oh, the bathroom was recently remodeled and seemed clean, but the shower drain was slow and you had to keep the water turned down or it would run out on the floor. I stayed in room 302.

This one of a million similar little hotels in the Earls Court area of London. At the price, one can't expect very much other than a bed and four walls -- if you're looking for very much more, you'll have to go up in price. In this, the Westbury was what I had expected with only one particular annoyance -- my room was a basement room and creaking floorboards on the floor above woke me early each morning. The breakfast is fairly unremarkable, the instant coffee is insulting, but again par for the course. The cheery (if slightly manic) Russian woman at reception gave the experience a bit of a fun/carnivalesque edge. Also free internet -- if that's important to you. Both the hotel's own (which doesn't cover the entire hotel) and from a free network located nearby. I don't know if all rooms have access, but my basement room had decent access to the free network, enough for email, etc.
