"Very convenient to convention center"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Friendly, competent staff, beautiful public spaces, great location if you're attending a conference at the Washington Convention Center. Room was a bit dated, had no safe or fridge, merely adequate bathroom.

Mid-rises and mansions grace the leafy streets of Dupont Circle, where independent cafes and shops thrive. With a number of gay bars and businesses, this area is DC’s main gay neighborhood. Foreign flags fly high on Embassy Row, the stretch of Massachusetts Avenue from the Circle to the National Zoo and National Cathedral. At night, locals head north to Adams Morgan for drinks and live music.

After reading reviews for this hotel, I was a bit nervous staying there, but had a conference rate I couldn't match on my own. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotels location is great. It's only about a 1/2 block from the DuPont Circle Metro, good restaurants, and if you enjoy older architecture, you'll be surrounded by it in this area. The […] pillow top beds were excellent and my room was clean. The person who checked me in seemed frazzled and a bit short with me, but when I remained courteous she responded in kind. My room had no hair dryer, which surprised me when you consider the cost of the room. The continental breakfast was better than what I have had at chain hotels and motels. Everyone really liked the coffee! Read more
"Great Location, Great Customer Service"
The staff at the Embassy Row Hotel was very attentive to my needs and very friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect - the Metro station is around the corner, and a wide variety of excellent restaurants nearby. The hotel is within walking distance to both places of interest and business. I highly recommend the Embassy Row Hotel to both business […] and vacation visitors to DC. Read more

"Great location"
I've stayed here before I will return. But please note the Lobby has had no bar open everytime I have stayed here. There us mo gift shopif you need shaving cream or a razor or something else. I stayed in room 816nuce room nice view; the walls of the bathroom had strands of black hair all over them from the previous guest. The wall trumin the halls around […] elevators etc needs touching up. Even brass trash cans look used and beat up. Place needs die lipstick. Best thing here is location! Read more
"Worse than the Photos"
Very aged building needing upgrades and renovation badly. Worn carpet, old furniture, beat up paint and walls. No on site restaurant or bar. It needs to be a far lower price to justify the conditions.
"Close to metro"
This is a very good hotel. Only problem was no restaurant or store in hotel but everything is within a few blocks of the hotel.
"Convenient to metro, nice breakfast"
I went with young kids, and wanted a short walk to easy metro access. This place was perfect for that. They had a breakfast buffet that was great for getting the crew going. Couple bummers: he pool was closed (maybe a good thing, as it gave us more time to see the sights), and our room had no view.
"Nice staff - Would stay again"
Perfectly fine hotel. Would stay there again. Water pressure was almost non-existent though. Staff was pleasant. The hotel engineer went above and beyond to help us out with a luggage problem.

Really looking shopworn. Staff acts tired. No bar. Looks disorganized on arrival. Convenient to my needs in DC and usually competitive on rates, and so I let price trump quality. Dupont restaurants are a plus and continental breakfast (free) makes up for some other disappointments.
when I checked in the room was made up but still contained food and drink from the previous guest. It also smelled of cigarette smoke. They did give me a new room but it was right next door and also smelled of smoke.
"Good and Bad"
The Good: Wonderful location, great breakfast. The Bad: On our last evening, I asked if they could arrange an early morning taxi to Dulles and watched the front desk woman write down "taxi, 5:45 a.m." on the request note. In the morning, we found a towncar waiting for about double the cost of a taxi. We were short on time so felt we had to take the […] towncar. At the airport the driver complained about me using a credit card. I think the front desk should reimburse the added expense we had! Read more

"Valet rip off"
$35.00 valet parking. RIP OFF!
Excellent location and value!
"Comfortable hotel in nice neighborhood"
Loved the neighborhood, Plenty of restaurants, beautiful historic buildings. Close to Metro. Breakfast is free, not that great but we ate there to save $$, Otherwise very comfortable room and bed.
"Embassy Row"
Convenient. Location? great! Breakfast? ready when you are--inlcuding fresh fruit.
"Amazing!"
A friend and I randomly took a trip to DC and when we were an hour or so away we decided it would be a good time to find a hotel. Another friend told me to check this one out and they had a room available. This hotel is gorgeous and the room was pretty big considering it was in DC. The hotel was in a good location and right by a metrostation entrance. […] It was extremely convenient and close to everything. The beds were actually comfortable too. I always have a hard time sleeping in hotels because they usually have terrible beds. This one was good and had lots of pillows. All of the people working there were very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay here again when visiting DC! Read more
Excellent service and very convenient hotel. Suggestion would be to put a small shelving system in bathroom to make it easier to store and arrange cosmetics and bath items.

"Embassy Row hotel is very close to the metro"
The hotel is also good walking for those who want to go to the Mall. We did so one day walking there and back.
"Faded Southern belle needs new deep-pocketed owner"
This hotel is in a great location but is falling apart. The restaurant, bar, and pool are permanently closed--I didn't even ask about the gym. The place is clean but scrapes, scuffs, cracks, and general signs of aging are everywhere and just too many in number to justify the cost. In my room second floor room the inch of space between the tub and the […] cabinet under the sink told the whole story: wallpaper peeling off the wall, paneling peeling off the cabinet, mold all over the floor tile. One badly broken floor tile in the lobby near the fireplace nearly flipped up out of its place when my suitcase wheel rolled across it! Lobby has major accessability issues. Half a dozen steps down into lobby, no ramp--would not recommend this place to the disabled, elderly, or those using strollers for young children, even though an accessible entrance exists in the parking garage. Staff were friendly but they did forget to put out more washcloths and bar soap when they made up my room after the first night. They got it right on subsequent nights. The bath linens were worn and old. You can Google hotel room service delivery and get good choices but it is no substitute for the real thing when your back is killing you but you have to go downstairs to pick up your supper anyway. Oddly, they still cater banquets from their kitchen. Also, ice machines were only on a couple of floors and vending machines on only one floor. The vending machines charge at least a dollar for almost everything and cans of soda were $1.25. The place could be great again with renovations and modernization but this place is not worth the still-high price they charge. Read more

"Dupont Circle gem"
Everything was outstanding + reasonable rate. Two criticisms: 1) please start complimentary breakfast at 6 am for those travelling for work....7 is too late. 2) would like to have mini bottles of hair conditioner.

"Great location, clean room, noisy fan"
Breakfast is OK - no hot dishes except those you toast yourself. Lobby has a funny Lysol-like smell. It was unusually hot for March the week I was there, and the fan in my room made a surging sound all the time without putting out much air. BUT -- the room was clean, I could open windows for air (5th floor), my hall was very quiet, the neighborhood […] was busy without being noisy, and the proximity to the DuPont Circle metro station couldn't be beat. Good value for the money. Read more

"8 days stay"
During 8 days stay, I got no problem. Good location near to the metro station. Free wi-fi is useful. The only thing I should mention is poor variety of complementary breakfast.
"Great Stay"

"Embassy Row Hotel In D.C."
WOW, how convenient to the Metro can you get?? Our only little problem was getting the air conditioner to be at the right temperature - but we got it right the 2nd night. VERY comfortable beds, wonderful helpful staff and a continental breakfast to boot. You will see me again IF my health allows such a trip. A very happy guest from MT
"Embassy Row Hotel in DC-close to subway"
All staff members with whom we were in contact were very helpful. The bed was comfortable and we were not disturbed by noise. We enjoyed the continental breakfast which included fruit, yogurt, cheese, bagels, cereals, waffles, toast, muffins, Danish, juices, coffee and teas. It is very close to a Metro station so we could leave the car at the hotel. […] There are also many good restaurants within several blocks. Read more
"Embassy Row - Friendly Staff, great access"
I just spent the night at embassy row over the weekend and the staff there were incredible. Everyone was very pleasant and we were treated very well. Upon checking out, we noticed there was an amazing farmers market right next door (and every sunday morning) in dupont circle but there was no where to park. Circling back to the hotel, the man working […] the valet said we could leave our car outfront and browse the farmers market and come back and get our car anytime. Amazing service all around. "Great people, great location."
What a great time we had at Embassy Row! The people are the nicest in the world. My daughter got very sick, and they rallied the troops -- told me how to get a doctor, brought lemon slices and all asked about her progress. Lois at Guest Services made sure we got a fridge and had menus in our rooms for our late arrival. Denice, our housekeeper, did yoemen's […] service. Every single member on the staff went out of their way to be wonderful. She's a grand hotel a little down on her luck -- the bar is closed, as is the restaurant -- but the location and staff make it well worthwhile. Read more

"Embassy Row Hotel, DC great hotel"
A great hotel, coolest location, small room, SLOW Internet. Will stay there again.
Everything was Ok, except for the fact that the guy at the front desk gave me first a key from a room looking into inner wall instead of with a city view. And when i came bcack he changed this but didnt even apologize for his mistake, this was a real cheating i guess. butall the rest was nice.

Clean hotel. Easy one night stay. Great breakfast included in am
"Great stay at the embassy row hotel"
The room was very clean and comfortable for my wife and my two children. The metro was very close by but we were able to walk to most places. Though the parking was a little expensive for one night but besides that everything else was good.

"Spring Break Trip"
It was our first time in Washington DC and we found the hotel very conveniently located, good value and good accomodations.
"False Advertising"
1. My then boyfriend called prior to our stay to try and upgrade the room because he planned on proposing while we were there. He was transferred 3 different times and when he finally got someone on the phone, they asked him to call back because they were too busy. Needless to say, he was unable to upgrade. He ended up proposing in Annapolis and we […] had a wonderful stay at the Westin Annapolis. We plan on making the Westin our anniversary celebration hotel for the years to come. 2. I chose this hotel because the pictures of the room looked nice and they included an alleged deluxe breakfast. The room was TINY! I mean the smallest room I have EVER stayed in. We would've been better at a Red Roof Inn! The bathroom was also super small and the room had a musty feel to it. The breakfast was a complete joke. We showed up an hour before it was over and they had ran out of everything except for rock-hard bagels and milk. I was completely shocked. It was a small buffet set up in a small room. Small seemed to be the common theme for this place. 3. Neighborhood was nice and there were a lot of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. Read more
