"I LOVED IT"
I was at the Embassy Row Hotel from 3/16 - 3/22 and had, perhaps, one of my best hotel experiences ever. Check in was fast, check in was efficient, and most of all the clerk was incredibly friendly. They were going through a process of converting to a new guest management program which I was completely patient with. They're also upping their staff […] significantly so i thought that was amazing. Yes, there's DEFINITELY renovations going on still, my biggest bummer was the fitness room wasn't available - which is the reason i stayed there - and the area fitness centers are complete jerks (yes, including the YMCA and a couple others). So whatever, i just got fat that week. I've been to embassy row hotel before, not as a guest, but as a visitor to a guest and I must say the upgrades are PHENOMENAL. Not sure when the upgrades will be over but it's already a zillion times better than it was before. I'm in DC 2-3 times per year from Honolulu and will definitely make this my primary place of stay. "Not for me or my company"
Construction underway, which entailed banging at 8 am. Parking was severely overcharged. And I was charged for local calls and Internet without notice, and I didn't use the phone or Internet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Meh. Lots of kinks. "

The hotel is undergoing a massive renovation, and I think they rushed to get rooms ready for spring break. The rooms are not at all soundproof - you will hear the conversations in the next room, every door opening and shutting in the hall, and every bit of street noise. The bed didn't have a mattress cover, which is a weird thing to cite, but I could feel every ridge and button through the thin little sheet. Phone in my room didn't work. No iron, ironing board, hair dryer, mini fridge, not even an ice bucket. No glasses or cups. The furniture / decor is modern and swanky - but this isn't a comfortable, high end place. Probably wouldn't stay again.
"Wow, just wow!"

I can't tell enough of my friends what a great my stay was at Embassy Row Hotel. The entire hotel has just gone through a renovation and everything from the lobby to the rooms were so beautiful. The feeling is very hip, modern and fun. Not only does it look good, but the staff was so friendly and down to earth - I felt like I was coming home and surrounded by new friends. The restaurant - Station Kitchen was so yummy and is a great place to hang out, have a couple of cocktails and some wonderful, creative food. In the morning, I would grab coffee (Compass Coffee which is a local partner - and WAY better coffee than a certain well known brand we all know) before heading out to explore the D.C. area. the location of the hotel couldn't be better - most things to do are a 1-2 mile walk or you can ride the metro which is literally right outside the hotel. I absolutely would recommend this hotel and am planning on coming back again - already planning my next trip!
"Double charged - Check your credit card statement carefully."

I was there for 5 nights; the stay was O.K. Location is great. The staff was nice and helpful. However, they were going thru full renovations, so it was extremely loud (wall drilling, hammering, etc.). They did try to keep the work noise from 8:30 am thru 5:00 pm ish; but if you happened to get there late at night and needed to sleep late the next morning to recover, or you are coming from a different time zone, it was pretty much impossible to get some rest during the day. I get it, they were remodeling the whole hotel. The main reason I am giving the hotel such a low rating is because they double charge me. I booked the hotel via Expedia, so it was pre-paid. When I checked-out I paid a charge of $42 for hotel service fees, which was fair and I have the receipt for it. When I saw my Amex bill, I got a charge for the full stay. The hotel had charged me even though the stay was pre-paid. Expedia has contacted the hotel and it is trying to get the issue resolved. They have been diligent about it. However they tell me that the hotel accounting department "does not take calls, just emails," and when they get to talk to someone, there is never a "qualified manager" that can solve the problem. Also the hotel people have mentioned their "systems been changed" with the remodel, and that may have caused the duplicate charge. Again I get it; errors and mistakes happen, but their recovery is just not what I think is acceptable. Amex is also aware of the situation and I assume they are getting the same response. There are TONS of hotels in DC, so you have plenty of options. If you stay at this place just make sure you check the charges in your credit card after your stay is over. Hope this helps!
"Comfort and convenience"

The embassy hotel is located blocks from DuPont circle and around the corner from the DuPont circle metro. The area is very convenient as far as dining options and nightlife options are concerned. From my understanding the hotel has been recently updated and the updates are quite modern and tasteful. I would stay there again.
"A completely different hotel than before!!"

Recently stayed at The Embassy Row Hotel and had a great stay. Renovated rooms were awesome and super comfortable. Great Dupont Circle location...just down the block from the Metro Station...tons of great restaurants within a short walk. I had stayed here prior to the renovations as well...wow is it different. The renovations were such a welcome change. I would recommend, and would definitely stay here again.

If you haven't stopped in to this place, you are missing out! This hotel is drop dead gorgeous! All the renovations have made this place a must see! Don't forget to grab a delicious Compass Coffee and cookie while you're there too!
"Completely transformed, experience amazing, truly first class!"

I Stayed twice at the Embassy Row Hotel, once before the renovation and again after. What a truly amazing transformation. The rooms have the balanced feeling of Hip and Modern with a certain touches of DC class. Station Kitchen has a menu that is diverse and encourages you to try 'a little of everything', sharing, with your family or friends. You have to try the 'Street Corn Salad' and the 'Korean Caveman Pops'. Yes, and don't forget the bottled cocktails - the 'Burlesque and Rye' - who doesn't love a good homemade shrub. Being from Los Angeles, we appreciate a couple of things, soulful food, a great cocktail, and a hotel that takes all the details in account - The Embassy Row Hotel does that and then some.
"Hidden gem for hotel visitors"

On my way home from a long trip to the U.S. I had two days stay over in Washington DC and booked a cheap hotel deal at a good place with good location. After a long day of sightseeing we just wanted to rest horizontally, but feeling a bit hungry we stopped by the hotel cafe/cocktail bar. We asked for soup, since we saw that they had some for sale to guest that wanted to take food in the room. One sweet-potato and carrot/ginger soup promptly came to the table and it tasted good. My wife wanted more and also had the tuna casserole, which also was fantastic. Small portions, but excellent taste more than made up for the prize. So, if you are staying at the Embassy Row Hotel, or close by at the DuPont Circle, stop by and get surprised. The place also is a bar and have some very charming and witty waiters/waitresses. The design is very modern, but also charming.
"Great staff, still renovating, new computer system a little buggy"
03/20/15 rolise60 New York City, New York
I stayed here one night on business. They had just put in a new computer system that day and the woman who checked me in was unsure how to use it. She also had problems checking me out the next morning and I was a little stressed as running late to my meeting. However, all the staff was very helpful and friendly. She made some great restaurant recommendations for lunch and dinner. They let me check in early. They were renovating rooms on my floor that afternoon which forced me out of the room due to banging noises. However, Dupont Circle very close and I discovered the Phillips Collection around the corner which had a great modern art collection and free admission on weekdays. Room was newly renovated and bed very comfortable. Nice flat screen tv with good channel selection. business office was being renovated so no computer for guest use although they would have printed for me if I had brought my own. there was unsecured wireless access, yes, however, I was not charged for that. Funky décor in lobby which I liked very much. The restaurant had just opened that day. I only had coffee in the morning as I thought breakfast prices high but all hotels charge a lot for food. Overall I would go back and stay there again once renovations are completed.
"Great location, helpful staff, brand new rooms."

This hotel recently completed a total overhaul renovation, and it shows. The rooms are beautiful. More importantly, the staff is kind and helpful. And the location can't be beat for access to great restaurants and the Metro. I would definitely recommend it.
