Gym was in shables; swimming pool - outdoors, under construction; the hotel claims that it is under construction - to be ready by 2015! The only thing I can say is that it is a clean place; and the staff was friendly. If you don't care about your accommodations, then this is ok. It is also at least 2 miles to the Washington monuments.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so happy to hear you were satisfied by our customer service. As you may know, the hotel has a new property management company. We're working to making changes as quickly as possible to provide the best experience possible. The gym is closed so we could replace the old equipment with new, modern equipment. It will re-open in a few weeks. I'm happy to share the rooftop terrace and pool will be open in mid-June (only two weeks after all hotels in DC open for the summer). I just want to reiterate that the hotel is NOT currently under construction. However, nonetheless, I truly regret to hear that you did not enjoy your visit completely. I'd like to invite you back to experience the hotel this summer with the new rooftop terrace and pool. Thank you again for reviewing our hotel. Sincerely, Shawn Jervis General Manager

"There is NO on site restaurant!"
Despite the free Wi Fi and complimentary continental breakfast, the facility had nothing to offer for lunch and dinner. Dining options were a couple of blocks away which wasn't convenient for me as it was cold and storming when I arrived. I was rather disappointed; especially since the hotel's website failed to mention there was no on site dining nor […] a bar. The one vending machine wasn't well stocked and neither was the drink machine. The room price was fine but you get what you pay for. There's nothing compelling at this hotel for me to make a return visit. :( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I regret to hear that you were not pleased during your recent stay. I understand your frustration with the rain; I also made sure our team is aware of the vending machine. Although we don't have a restaurant now, I hope that you'll return this summer or next spring. This summer, we'll open our rooftop terrace and pool with food & beverage service. In phase two, the hotel renovations of all nine floors and 231 guest rooms will include a new redesigned lobby, a social bar, grab-n-go barista station, new meeting space, and a new fitness studio. Thank you again. I hope you'll return and stay at our hotel. Sincerely, Shawn Jervis

"Near Metro but that is the only plus"
Overall, our family was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with our stay. The hotel amenities were few and the only plus was the proximity to the DC Metro and Dupont Circle. The hotel is undergoing renovations which caused the roof deck and exercise room to be closed. We already knew the outdoor pool would not be usable in mid-April, but we had […] wanted to see the views from the rooftop, which was closed due to renovation. Our room faced Embassy Row, which was a nice view (I don't know what we would have done if we had ended up with an interior courtyard view), but the windows had so much condensation on them it made viewing difficult. It rained quite hard the first day of our stay and we were dejected to learn that there were no laundry (dryer) facilities anywhere in the hotel. There is also no room service and the continental breakfast which was included in our stay was miserly at best - bread, oatmeal, boiled eggs and cereal. Overall, not a hotel that caters to families or travelers wanting anything besides a bed and a marginally satisfying breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear Ellen, Thank you for writing a review. I want you to know that we take each review very seriously. I have shared your review with our team. This week, we sent a perfect rooms team out to inspect each room and ensure that items like streaky windows are resolved. I regret to hear that you did not enjoy the free breakfast. The hotel has a new property management company, so we're working to improve the existing amenities and services offered in the hotel until the renovations. After renovations, the lobby will feature a grab-n-go station with a barista, available during breakfast and lunch. I invite you to come back and stay at our hotel. "Cherry Blossom Festival"
The hotel does need some updating, but it was still nice. The rooms are small considering I had a double. The bathrooms get extremely hot from the light fixture so we just didn't turn on the second light. The location was great and the neighborhood was safe. Not many child friendly restaurants and before people gripe at me I know its in an area with […] LOTS of bars. Overall it served its purpose and my family had a great time. Response by Embassy Row Hotel Hi Valerie, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay during the Cherry Blossom festival. I know it can seem difficult to find family friendly restaurants. Please feel free to ask the concierge or the front desk. We have a list of nearby restaurants, including the ability to point out which are family-friendly. To name a few, Founding Farmers, Bucca di Peppo and Pizzeria Paradiso are delicious and conveniently nearby. I hope you'll come back again and stay with us. If you come back next year during the DC Cherry Blossom Festival, you'll experience the new Embassy Row Hotel. Thanks again! Sincerely, Shawn Jervis
"Very good location"
The hotel was very good except for the check-in, check-out process. They said they had a new software so we probably need to give those guys a break. The breakfast was adequate, however, since we went during the cherry blossoms' season, the dining room was packed. A very good experience overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"There are no amenities here"
Despite the free wi-fi and complimentary continental breakfast, the hotel doesn't have a restaurant on site nor does it have a bar. "Great location and nice view of city"
Our experience was mixed. I don't think we will return to this hotel. It is a great location being right off Dupont Circle and so close to the subway. And the view from our room was great but would have been better if the window was clean. It was all streaky. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The air conditioner was so loud we had to keep […] turning it off to sleep but then back on when we were too hot. The free breakfast is not worth much more than the price. We skipped it on the second day. And the elevators take forever! The staff were very friendly and helpful! It was a very mixed bag. Sorry. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"As good as you can ask for!"
I have stayed at the Embassy Row before and am always pleased with it. Location is great, just a hundred yards from the DuPont Circle Metro stop - an easy few blocks to my conference hotel - and plenty of good (although not real cheap) eateries in the neighborhood. Breakfast is better than the word "continental" implies - no hot meats, eggs or waffles, […] but plenty of other choices. The place feels a littl worn and tired, but a renovation is planned for next year - I just hope the price doesn't skyrocket as a result! Great place to stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"had a good stay"
It was exactly what I was looking for in a hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is in a great neighborhood, close to a convenient metro station, and if you want a little hike, you can walk down to the national mall (closer to Lincoln monument) or over to the national zoo. Plus, there are a lot of good restaurants nearby. Also, it was nice to have a breakfast included every day, and free wireless was a plus. However, […] I felt I the price for my room was not a good value, considering how dated and worn the room was. The bathroom had several patches on the ceiling and walls, and the furniture was very scuffed. I was afraid to walk across the carpet with my bare feet because it was so dirty. Both the pool and the fitness center were out of order during our visit, which was was a bummer because we were looking forward to using both! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Perfectly adequate for its purpose, decent small breadfast included. Rome was small but sufficient for one person. Bed comfortable. Bathroom perfectly acceptable. "Can't Beat the Location"
Embassy Row is working through many enhancements to restore it as one of the must-stay hotels near Dupont Circle. "Overpriced and in need of attention"
Location is the best and possibly only quality of this hotel. The exterior looks very nice but the interior clearly has not been taken care of for a long time. They are remodeling the top floor but currently rooms are small, sparsely furnished, with bathroom accessories falling off the wall, crooked sinks, etc. During the remodeling (which will last […] several months) there is NO FITNESS CENTER available! This information wasn't shared at the time of booking nor during check in. When I inquired with the front desk the staff dismissed me showing no concern at all (the employee didn't even stop what he was doing on his computer to look at me while I was talking to him). They could have mitigated this in several ways such as having guest passes at nearby fitness centers or even simply a list of those center. Breakfast is very mediocre. "Did not provide enough beds to accommodate family!"
Overall, we liked this hotel, great location near Dupont Circle, OK breakfast, clean, etc. However, upon check-in we were told the room we booked with 2 double beds was not available due to smoke damage that occurred earlier in the day and that they had assigned us a room with a King and would provide a single roll away bed. We are a family of 2 adults […] and 2 children (12 and 14) and they were providing beds for 3 people to sleep in. I repeatedly asked where each of my family members was to sleep and was not given a straight answer. The only possible solutions were 3 people in the King or one kid on the floor. When we got to the room, we requested 2 additional blankets (for the lucky kid who got the floor!) and they brought 1. We had to ask again for the 2nd blanket. They offered no compensation for this significant inconvenience. I'm not sure why in a hotel of probably over 200 rooms, they couldn't find a group of 3 to put in that room, but I suspect it is because we booked through Expedia. My fiancé and I wanted to go somewhere close to home but get away. This hotel was great. We had checked in early and there were no rooms available but they offered to hold our bags till we had a room. We valet parked our car about $50 for overnight (we were able to keep it there the next day while we did some sight seeing for no additional cost). The […] metro station was just a minutes walk away. Very convenient! The hotel did not have a restaurant but we found a upscale pizza place called paradiso pizza around the corner which was excellent. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. They had a continental breakfast which my fiancé said was just eggs and bananas. So a little let down there. "Back to old Stomping Ground"
When my best buddy from the 80's reconnected with me last year we celebrated our reunion in New Orleans and he expressed a desire to return to DC to live. I would dearly love to have him back so we can have that friendship back to where it used to be. I was first taken aback by the Expedia price being so low especially in DuPont Circle, then the hotel […] surprised me again when they accommodated my wish for a flat panel TV (I needed to complete some job training modules for work). I would give Embassy Row 4 stars just for location and a extra star for the staff itself. The staff were at once accommodating, courteous, and unassuming. For just 2 nights with an old pal where we used to hang out, the surrounding boutique hotels (where I've stayed before) can kiss my dollars goodbye because Embassy Row is my choice from now on.
