Stayed at the Embassy Row hotel for 3 days, 2 nights. I was a little nervous because there were several bad reviews for the hotel but I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The hotel staff were very nice and hospitable. The bellman brought my bags in and got me a taxi. Also, there was a crazy storm one night so I couldn't go out for dinner. […] They were able to provide me with delivery menus. My room was clean with a great view of the cute neighborhood. I actually saw a man outside of his house painting on an easel! The neighborhood is super cute and charming. The location and price of this hotel can't be beat. I was able to walk to the White House, National Mall, Washington Monument (etc). Also, the Dupont Circle Metro station is right around the corner. The recently renovated rooftop pool was gorgeous. It's not large but they made good use of the space. I enjoyed sitting up there reading. I didn't have any food or drinks when I was up there. There's only one real complaint I have about this place. The complimentary breakfast was terrible. There were a lot of offerings (eggs, sausage, hash browns, asst pastries) but everything was pretty gross. Even my cranberry juice was watery and the coffee was overly strong. Regardless of the breakfast situation I would still definitely stay here again. Plus they seem to be continuously renovating so I'm sure it will get even better. Just don't raise the prices! :-) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"extra charges not included"
I have never stayed at a hotel that charges $45 dollars to park and $9.95 for hotel incidentals that we never used but they still charged for very unhappy with Underhanded manner in witch they inflated the cost of the stay will NOT recommendGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were looking for a convenient place to stay to see a Nats game-wanted something close to the Metro. This location was perfect! Metro station 1 block away with lots of activity and restaurants in the area. The bed was awesome! Also got to see July 4th fireworks from the pool deck on the roof! Amazing! Breakfast included and it is a real breakfast […] buffet with eggs, sausage, oatmeat etc...very good. 2 cons though...check-in was a disaster - only 2 staff on front desk with about 20 parties waiting to check in. Also, they only do valet parking that costs over $50 a night with tax. No self parking and no parking decks close by. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room I had was older compared to others that I saw. I was in 233, worst view ever. I got to look at the courtyard of rusty air vents. The ceiling in front of the bathroom had water damage. The television was not really a flat screen. We never received any robes and the bathroom shower knobs and head was loose. Other than that the place was tolerable. […] Our room always had clean towels and bed sheets. The staff is excellent. The rooftop pool is gorgeous, just get there early, space is limited. Loved the rooftop chef and bartenders! They need to work on the elevators too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I thought everything was great. I went for the July 4th weekend and the place was a bit crowded, however the location made up for that. The continental breakfast was ok. The lines were a bit long about 20 minutes to get food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quiet Hotel at Dupont Circle DC"
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful they took pride in their work! The roof top pool was very nice, unfortunately it can be closed for private parties during your stay so beware. Parking was expensive for hotel guests. Rooms were large enough and the interior view were very quiet. WiFi cost of $10 per room per night was excessive, […] this made the room cost less of a deal. Coverage was weak throughout the hotel, this may change as they renovate. Renovation may disrupt the hotel for the next two years as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel is right around the corner from the Phillips Museum, one of my favorites! Room not ready upon check in. Provided access card for rooftop pool/bar to get lunch. Went up and after lunch computer system down and still unable to get room. Were able to get room at 5:30pm. Called 3 times to request glass for room to get drink of water. Request never filled. No glasses, no chair yet table in room. Paper no pen at desk. "@ Dupont Cir & close to Metro"
This is a great hotel. I've stayed here 10 or more times. It is not new but is being renovated. I have not problem with that but some might need most up to date everything. I need the Metro & buses. Restaurants, the zoo, Phillips Gallery, (Georgetown 1 mile easy by bus) everything is close by. There's so many things in this neighborhood that no one […] tells you about like the Wilson House or The Society of Cincinnati. The people that work at this hotel are fantastic. "My mostrecent Staty at Embasy Row Hotel"
Well it was not as nice when stayed there last year. First of all the hotel changed sometime last year. Not a very good change I might add. Next when I check in the desk clerk informed me that would be an additional charge for internet service of$10.00. I said did not want internet service I already had it on my phone. He said it was a mantory charge???. […] The next day when during breakfast the hotel ran out off eggs. Also I ask other people if the where aware of this new charge? Some people where and some people where not aware. Moreover what I found out if you where staying for like week or more you did not know. Other people with short stays where told when they checked in. One women she was staying for 14 days. That would be extra charge of $140.00? How can they do that. And is that legal? Furthermore the quality of the hotel went down. It's in a great location. However, not sure if I would stay or ever recommend this hotel to family and friends. Prior to this stay I would have. After this particular stay there no way. Again the new ownership not keeping the overall quality up to speed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Expensive parking and hidden mandatory Wi-Fi fee"
I was very disappointed. We actually called to see if the pool would be open. It was.....for day 1 only. They seriously had to close the pool down for an entire day for a photo shoot? We had to pay a mandatory Wi-Fi fee for a weak connection that was useless. We also had an unexplained fee on our credit card. I think they charged me for the use of their […] computer as a phone charger. They would not let us park our own car and charged an unfair rate for valet parking. This will be the last time we use hotels dot com (not allowed to use a website in here). This will also be the last time we stay at the Embassy Row Hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear Traveler, Thank you for your recent review. The Rooftop was closed on June 30th for a photo shoot. I appreciate your patience. The Rooftop is open seven days a week. It was something that needed to be done, so we chose a Monday based on occupancy and demand. Unfortunately, the photoshoot was on the Monday during your stay. Due to the nature of the garage, guests are not able to park their own car. It's a valet garage, not a regular parking garage. However, parking prices are posted on three signs upon arrival at the hotel. The price ($26/daily, $45/overnight) is on par with D.C.'s parking. I regret to hear that you are disappointed. I hope we can make it up to you. I hope you will consider coming back and staying with us. Sincerely, Shawn Jervis General Manager

"What you will and will not get at this hotel."
You will get the best breakfast ever - excellent coffee, cereals, fruits, eggs, and so on. Lots to choose from. Rooms are comfortable and clean but small - depending on what type you choose. The overall feel of the hotel is modern and well kept. You will be charged an additional mandatory fee for the internet and use of the phone, regardless of whether […] you will use it or not. You will be charged $45/day for parking your car at the hotel. So, don't let the good rate fool you and be prepared for an extra $55/day charge. Great location, close to metro station and "walking distance" (20mins) to White House. You will NOT get a decently sized bathroom. Ours was TINY. No room to put your belongings, no hairdryer, no bathtub - just a shower. No shelves to put anything on. You will NOT get good TV channels - very few to choose from. No minifridge in the room. Ice and vending machines every other floor. The "swimming pool" was still under "construction", which was really bad when the temperature reached 95degrees. "A disappointment on several levels"
We initially selected this hotel because it had a pool. When we arrived the pool was under construction, though this information was not included on the hotels.com website. They sent us to another hotel 15 minutes away and we had to pay an extra $10 per person per day to swim. Elevators were painfully slow; we spent too much of our trip waiting for […] them. "Dated hotel Mass Ave hotel w/very pricey parking."
Traveled to DC to participate in GWU graduation and wanted the option to walk, given good weather. Was immediately taken aback by the dated finishings in the lobby, dining areas, elevators, hall ways, and most importantly the rooms. We reserved a room with queen sized bed. When asked about the bed size at check in (my husband and I are tall), the representative […] confirmed our requested bed size. The bed in room 209 was a double at best. The down pillows were so flat, doubling does nothing to elevate your head. The room has old/stale carpet. The door had unrepaired chips along the bottom interior. No refrigerator, no occasional chair (a conference room dining room chair provided additional seating. No exhaust fan in the bathroom and there is very little counter space around the sink. Although the closet is tight, at least eight (8) wooden hangers are included. The safe has a sticky door. Room 209, is on the opposite side of the elevators (there is a large quartered off square in the middle of hotel, so guests must walk around the parameter of this space down long hallways to reach rooms on the opposite side of the hotel. This could be very challenging for some guests. Overnight parking is $53+ tax EACH night. Daytime parking is $23 with no in & out. Guests must either climb or descend steps almost immediately upon entry onto the property. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear Donn, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Destination Hotels & Resorts is the new property management company for the hotel. "Great location BUT......"
I thought that the hotel was overpriced and paying over $53.00 per night for parking was unbelievable. The location was great but unfortunately the water pressure in the shower was barely above a trickle. The "complimentary" continental breakfast was not worth the time waiting for a table. Better breakfast is served at any fast food restaurant. We booked […] this hotel as it was advertised as having a roof top area. It was not access able as it was under repairs. Response by Embassy Row Hotel Dear J, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Last year we stayed at the Fairfax Hotel whereby the service is EXCELLENT! Embassy Row Hotel is a great place to stay only if service is not important to you. The front desk staff were very helpful, I had a problem with my FedEx parcels not arriving in time for an event I organized in DC. The Continental Breakfast was above average with variety of choices. "Great location, but ..."
The hotel is okay; the service, amenities, and cleanliness is what's expected for the price. The location is amazing though; it's right in the middle of everything in Dupont Circle and close to the metro. However, the good experience ended there for us. The room we had on the 7th floor was right next to the ice machine which is pretty loud through the […] super thin walls. The loud AC in our room in combination with some sort of constant ventilation fan noises backed up by the ice machine made it impossible to sleep. Even my husband who can sleep through anything couldn't handle this most annoying non-stop noise. We left at 2AM as we figured that any sleep in that room was impossible. The front desk person just shrugged his shoulders and said something about some work being done or something. Thanks a lot, Embassy Row Hotel, for a sleepless night and the ruined weekend. The hotel was lovely, it's quite old so some signs of wear are showing such as no flat screens, refrigerators or safes in the room. I would NOT recommend this hotel. I think the title just about says it all. This is despite the fact that I called earlier that evening to let them know my plane had been delayed and I would be arriving very late.
