"Good mid-price choice"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.
"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"Friendly Staff, Comfortable Room, Convenient"
When I first got to the Met, I was already sort of wary because there was no place to park and unload my luggage. The staff said that it was okay to use the bus bay in front of the hotel for a couple of minutes, but unfortunately, a bus came and started honking, causing me to have to close the trunk, leave half of my suitcases with my son on the curb, […] and drive around in circles until the bus left. However, that was probably the worst of it. During our stay, the front desk staff was very courteous and gave us tips about what places we should check out, how to ride the SkyTrain (which is conveniently right next to the hotel, by the way), etc. The free breakfast was just decent. Mostly carbs (cereal, bagels, muffins) and some fruit, and on the first day, the staff that was supposed to set it up must have accidentally slept in, because it started half an hour later than was listed on sheet. The room itself was surprisingly large and very clean. I'm guessing it's been renovated somewhat recently. Overall, a pleasant stay, would recommend. Read more

"The Met Hotel - Historic Gem in New West"
I chose this hotel due to its location next to the Skytrain station for easy access to Vancouver and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, nicely updated rooms and cleanliness. This is a historic area and the building (built in 1891 by the sign on the front) is one of a very few that was not destroyed by a huge fire in 1898. The rooms were […] nicely decorated and updated and I was very happy with how clean everything was. Breakfast was also more than I was expecting with fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc. The front desk staff was very friendly and polite. I would definitely stay here again. Read more
"Great Service and ADORABLE hotel ---"
New Westminster isn't a great area - but The Met is such a delightful hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable and all the staff was very helpful.
"Would not recommend staying here again."
1. The front desk clerk that was there on the weekend was not helpful at all and rude. She did not greet us...in fact when we arrived; the front door of the hotel was locked. We had to go to the bar next door and ask how to get in. The rude front desk clerk had locked the door to take a break I suppose. 2. The area surrounding the hotel is not safe. […] There are young men just hanging out on the corner and sidewalk in front of the hotel. 3. There is no hotel parking... you have to park your car in a public parking garage and then walk past all of those young people who are making comments to get to the hotel front door. 4. Do not recommend. Read more

"Surprising Find"
Based on the reviews we were not sure about this hotel but were very pleasantly surprised. The room was big, clean, and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. There was a microwave and mini fridge in the room that were very convenient and we had great WiFi signal in our room. It is not located in downtown Vancouver, but the ease and proximity to […] the Sky Train is perfect. The train stop is right downstairs and you are taken right into the city. The breakfast was ok coffee and muffins - but sufficient for a continental breakfast. There is also a great coffee kiosk on the street outside and lots of coffee shops in close walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful giving us tips on the city and surrounding areas. For the price it is a room. We would definitely recommend it and stay here again. Read more
"Good price and overall great experience"
The staff was exceptionally helpful and very friendly. Their recommendation to Aldo's Restaurant was a great idea. The food at this place was awesome, right next door and not overly priced, service just as friendly, too. The room was clean and recently redecorated. The only thing that was not as newly done was the bathroom, but this was also nice and […] clean. A good price for an overall great experience. They also put out muffins and fresh coffee every morning. I'd definitely stay there again as it is a short drive into Vancouver and the town of New Westminster itself is very picturesque and pleasant. Parking out front is metered during the day (except for Sunday) but at night it is free (get up early to feed the meter) or you can pay at the lot nearby at a rate of about $10 per day. Read more
"more than ok for the money"
It's not near downtown (the interesting part of Vancouver and the place where you lead to attractions like Grouse Mt.), but other cheap hotels are even farther away. However, it's just outside the exit of Columbia train station, which makes it convenient (1/2 - 3/4 hour to/from downtown) if you are the kind who just needs a place to sleep, have a little […] breakfast, and spend the whole day away. Somehow, I expected the hotel to be in worse shape for that price, but it was actually ok. Bring your earplugs if noisy A/C bother you. Read more
"Met Hotel"
Great Location with access to Sky Train a few steps away. All the amenities are at hand such as Pubs, restaurants and shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only negative is NO Loading Zone and parking could be an issue for some. Older heritage style Hotel with 12' ceilings. Wow!
"Bring your ear plugs!"
We stayed on the 4th floor which over looks the Sky Train station. The trains keep running every few minutes till the early hours of the morning, then start up again at 5am! There are no overnight overnight staff at the front desk. There are no in-room coffee or tea facilities We were told that coffee and tea would be available at 7am... it wasn't...neither […] was there any staff available when we checked out at 7:30am Read more

"Met Hotel in New Westminster BC"
Comfortable, well situated. But what was most appreciated was the quiet. No sound of the neighbouring rooms' plumbing; no hallway noises from guests returning late. A lovely old building that is better than new, in a lot of ways.
"Pleasantly surprised!"
Booked this hotel due to location and knowing the area at night isn't the best I had no idea what I was in for. But was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted with friendly staff, clean room and a very cool old hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the room had everything you needed. Would definitely stay here again!
"Lovely Historic Boutique Hotel"
We've stayed at the Met about 3 times now, and it is lovely. The rooms aren't enormous, but they feel spacious because of the high ceilings. Beds are comfortable, bathroom roomy and clean, and the breakfast basic but pleasant. The staff will tell you stories if you ask about the friendly ghosts that are rumoured to haunt this building, the oldest in […] the first city in British Columbia -- oldest because it survived the fire that gutted most of the town in the late 1800s. Expect a bit of noise on the weekends, as it is above a pub, next to the Skytrain, and on a main street. Columbia Street has, in recent years, become home to some interesting shopping, and one of my favourite restaurants is two doors down (the Heritage Grill). Read more

"The Met Hotel in New Westminster BC"
+'s: The hotel was very nice and the staff were excellent. The room was very nice, but it would have been better to have a coffee maker and a mini fridge. -'s: The in-rrom airconditioner was loud, even at a low setting. The location is very noisy - a railroad on one side, a commuter train station on the other, and a bar on the main level. It was so […] loud even the air conditioner didn't drown out the sound from outside! The area seemed a little sketchy ... lots of down-on-their-luck folks on the street - I was careful to be back at the hotel before nightfall. Read more
"Met Hotel New Westminster"
Pleasant surprise of nice clean rooms, lobby and friendly staff for a small hotel. Located in an heritage building on older street in New West.
"Loved it :)"
Really cute hotel! The room was huge and even though we faced the skytrain we could barely hear it. When we arrived and saw we were on the same floor that the complimentary breakfast was offered I was concerned that this would wake us up in the morning, but again I slept soundly. Bed was really comfy and the staff was friendly & helpful. I would definitely […] stay here again, great value. Read more
"Hotel Met in New Westminster"
We had an excellent stay. The hotel is of course and older hotel [1867] so we were not expecting "Steel & Chrome". It is very well kept. The location is in the older section of New West, but that added to the charm. It was within walking distance of everything we wanted/had to do. The sky train station is directly behind, and below our room {note: did […] not disturb us AT ALL!} fascinating history in area. Watch the river, watch the trains. Noticed people smiled on the streets. Felt safe at all times. NWPD down the street from the hotel and Transit Police up one block. Friendly, helpful staff in hotel, friendly staff in Met restaurant. Fabulous walking area along the quay, easy to get to from the hotel. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Read more

"The Met Hotel in New Westminster"
It was a casual atmosphere, friendly staff, great room. A little noisy on the back side due to the Metro, I just turned on the air conditioner and slept very well.
"Lovely hotel stay !! ;)"
My boyfriend and I booked 1 night at The Met for a lil getaway from home.. when we got there, the front desk greeted us in a very friendly manner, checked us in, and gave out room keys. When we got to our room, it was soo nice! big windows, nice king sized bed, soo clean, and neat... we loved the toiletries!! lol.. The bed was very comfortable and there […] was A/C in the room as well.. it was a VERY great stay overall and the staff were super friendly and accomodating :) My boyfriend and I just hope we weren't too noisy ;) lol Thank you!!
