This famous beach is also the widest beach in Rio. Throngs of bikini- and Speedo-clad locals and tourists take in the sun, as well as a round of beach soccer and volleyball. Copacabana Beach is a popular venue for concerts and a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration where partiers wear white for good luck. The glitzy shops and cafés along Avenida Atlântica provide a welcome respite from the heat.see all hotels in Rio de Janeiro
"Time for a huge overhaul!!!"
Great location right in the middle of Copacabana beach. But that's about it. The hotel is very tired and worn out. Carpets, fixtures, paint, tile, etc all need to be replaced-and badly. The included breakfast was decent and plentiful, but not outstanding. The hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant. We stayed here 3 nights while passing through […] Rio. We didn't really explore Ipanema beach until our last day and were really sorry we didn't stay there to begin with. Aside from being on Copacabana beach, there really isn't much to get excited about with the Olinda Rio. The surrounding neighborhood is run down and not particularly inviting. Ipanema on the other hand, was much more our style- great beach and a MUCH better area to explore. We would not stay again at the Olinda Rio. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Lobby very nice and excellent location on beach (heart of Copacabana). Room was very basic, a little below average. Overall Average rating if you take everything considered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right by the beach"
The hotel was nicer than my room. The lobby had marble floors, bilingual receptionists, who were always very helpful. It lacked a fitness center. The hotel was right across from the beach, and they provided towels for the beach. Hopefully my room was an exception. It was clean, but had no table or chairs. The one window was effectively boarded up with […] vinyl blinds covering a metal shuttered window, so there was no view or natural light. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Olinda Rio Hotel. The location is excellent since it is located right in front of Copacabana Beach. The room was clean and comfortable, yet a bit unremarkable (basic). The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The continental breakfast was delicious! The hotel is conveniently located near everything, especially […] several of the main attractions. I would gladly recommend this hotel to friends, family, and business associates. "Good location and helpful receiption"
Good location, very close to bus stop ! On Sunday there is fair nearby which is very insteresting to walk through. Helpful receiption can speak good English. A little noisy at night because close to the road but i think most of sea view room would be the same. Even the price isn't low but it really worth to stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on Copacabana Beach"
This hotel is right in the middle of Copacabana beach so a great location as you can walk to restaurants, shopping and Ipenema (which is a little more upscale). The room we got through hotels.com was in the way back on main floor and we asked to change but never did. The breakfast is great in the morning, everything fresh. The lobby was good. The hotel […] staff was attentive and the bell service people and door men were excellent. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Value for Rio"
The front desk was extremely responsive and professional. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. The rooms are newly remodeled but it looks as if they ran out of money before they could redo the bathrooms. The free wifi worked much better than I would have expected. The location is a little dodgy but no more so than anywhere else in Copacabana or […] the rest of Rio. Leave your passport and other valuables in your room safe and you should be fine. All in all, I would say this hotel was an excellent value by Rio standards and would gladly recommend it to anyone that needed a place to stay while on business or pleasure in Rio. "excellent Copacabana hotel"
Hotel is excellent in nearly every way. All of the staff are very nice, courteous, and responsive to all needs. There is a small bar and restaurant with a Saturday feijoada buffet that is discounted for guests and a complimentary caipirhina is also included. The hotel kitchen makes great meals as well. Rooms are a little small but clean. Location is […] very nice located right on the beach and 1 block from bus stops and 3 blocks from the metro station. An abundance of restaurants are everywhere to be found. There's also within 1 block a grocery store and laundomat. The only downside was that my friend had his cellphone stolen in a pretty bold pickpocketing right in front of the hotel. The staff said they knew the group of thieves and have reported them to police, but the police haven't done much to catch them. I'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beach view room"
From the moment I arrived, the hotel was very courteous to whether I spoke Portuguese, Spanish or English. The room was great, minus a couple of carpet stains on the floor. The view blew my mind away; it was very convenient to go out to the beach to have caipirinhas. The staff was helpful with information about rio and about tours. The tours are a little […] pricey, but if you have the money to spend then I recommend using the hotel to tour. The hotel food was excellent, I had the salmon and it was amazing (price is pretty much the same as US prices). Recommend if you have some money to spend and plan in coming to the World Cup. "updated but some functional obsolescence"
the staff was very welcoming and friendly. they kept the premises on the interior clean and the renovations they were doing on the exterior was not distracting unless you were a late sleeper. I appreciated the mini bar and snack basket however although the room had some updates it lacked being completely updated. the mattress was old, carpet was dirty […] as well as the drapes the bathroom have some updates but still some of the old fixture were there. the windows were old and hard to open not to mention a lot of wind noise. There was also a stale smell probably from the carpet. I was a little disappointed for a four star Hotel but it was comfortable enough. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Locarion is convenient, hotel is located off of Copacabana beach. Rooms are subpar, beds are uncomfortable, shower is good with substantial pressure. Tours are offered with the hotel with the reception. Staff was helpful, however tours are over priced and you are much better off speaking to the tour company directly. This will save you 30%.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Copacabana Hotel"
We spent 8 days in May 2013 at this WONDERFUL hotel. The first thing that impressed us was how clean the hotel was. Our room was spotless and newly updated. It was also bigger than we had been led to believe, a nice bonus. The real treat, though, was the staff. Although we travel a lot, we did not know one word of Portuguese. The staff was super friendly […] and helped us every single day: they allowed us to check in early and check out late, they helped us find a bank, set up tours for us, recommended restaurants, gave us excellent instructions for using the bus system (easier than we thought with their help!), set up transport to the airport and were always very friendly IN ENGLISH! We talked to them every day. The breakfast consisted of a fruit bar with 12 different kinds of tropical fruits, all fresh, and then several breads, cheese and scrambled eggs. Between the staff and the breakfast, this was a super value for the money. We did pay extra for the ocean view, so worth it. You can see futbol and volleyball fields right from the window and there were lazy mornings where we just sat by the window instead of going down to the beach right away. One drawback: The hotel is right on the beach and Av. Atlantica, the street that runs between the beach and hotel is very, very loud. I imagine this is a problem of any beach front hotel in Copacabana. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The unfriendly staff and the dirty room do not deserv the amount that they are ask for. We have booked a transfer to the airport through the hotel. The driver was unprofessional and unfrendly and he has been talking on his phone from the hotel to the airport and he was driving very fast! We have told home to drive slowly and not to talk on the phone […] while he drive but he just ignore and he was very agressive!! All in all our experience with Olinda hotel was very bad!! Wonderful to open the Olinda Hotel room shades in the morning to look out at gorgeous, expansive, sandy Copacabana Beach and the magnificent blue ocean. A perfect way to begin the day. "Smack in the middle of Copacabana"
This hotel is starting to get a little bit old. But you can not ask for a better location if you wan't to stay at Copacabana. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Good wifi coverage and it is free of charge. Large breakfast buffet included in the room rate. Excellent water pressure in the room. "Disappointing for Property with So Much Potential"
This is my second time staying at this hotel. My first stay was exactly 2 years ago when the hotel was under different management. The change in management has not inproved the hotel. The good things about the hotel first - The location is excellent. Centrally located on Avenida Atlantica midway along the Copacabana beach - very convenient to everything […] and easy to get a taxi to other parts of Rio. The ocean view from the room is great! The hotel has good bones - nice classic architectural details - spacious lobby with ample seating for leisurely relaxation outside of the room. The not so good things - The hotel is showing wear and there is no indication that anything is being done about it. There is an unsightly section of the lobby that is draped in a plastic construction cover - who knows what's behind that. The room itself was spacious enough, but the horribly stained carpet, worn drapes, and unattractive bedding made it feel like a cheap motel room. Simple changes to the carpet, drapes, and bedding would make a huge difference. The bathroon is a very nice size although it could use some updating. I would love to stay at this hotel again, but I will look for other oprtions on my next visit unkes, there are some updates. The cost is too high for the property condition. Also the restaurant food quality could stand improvement. The steak I ordered for dinner my first night was the worst cut of meat I've ever had. I hope the hotel turms all of this around. "Traditional architecture with modern amenities"
This is a gem of a hotel, right in the middle of Copacabana. The breakfast is simply awesome and the hotel staff are very attentive and friendly. Room was a bit small, but serviceable and fit in with the whole 1960's ambience. As if you might bump into Sean Connery or Peter O'Toole sitting in the bar, making small talk while scoping out the high-roller […] bad-guy sitting on the other side of the bar murmuring to his minions with a Bond Girl at his side.. "Top notch staff and location but needs renovation"
Staff was amazingly helpful with all issues, reminiscent of top hotels. Location was very central in the Copacabana district and directly across from the beach. Breakfast spread was the best I had in Brazil. Only issues were the hotel is rather 'dated' - one wall of my bathroom and one wall of the shower appeared to be particle board or something and […] basically put there as a temporary measure. Also the elevator was basically broken (kept stopping on the 6th floor and not moving). And my room was rather small...outside of the double bed there was very little space, it felt very 'European' in that regard (laughably small desk setup, and had to nudge bed aside to be able to open the closet door). I guess the rate was fair in comparison to the other options in the area, but that was only after I had gotten an early booking discount on Expedia. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worth the rate"
Nice "local" hotel, with a very good location (on the Copacabana beach), very tasty breakfast buffet (included in our rate), and a variety of city tours available for purchase. Nothing fancy, but all the basics were well met (we stayed at a see-view room). No need for a car, but if you rent one, you can park in front of the hotel for 2 Reals per day. […] Shuttles back to the international airport are 20 Reals per person (you can also get a taxi for about 40 Reals). At the airport they try charging you 100+ Reals (you can get one for about 50 Reals to Copacabana beach). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not the best- go somewhere else"
The hotel is working on making improvements, i will say that. However, our first day, our AC starting leaking. The AC is located in the ceiling next to one of the beds, not outside a window like most AC's usually are. We called the front desk 2x, with the promise a tech would come up to check it. We left our room, after we were told that they would […] fix it, and there already was a huge wet spot next to my bed. Between the wet carpet and the humidity, the smell was unbearable. And you couldn't open the window seeing as they are very old and if you did manage to open it, good luck trying to close it- very rusty. By the time we returned (approx 10pm) the AC was still leaking. Finally, after 2 more calls, the tech came up and had to use a bucket to remove all the water that was just sitting up there. Even more smelly. The hotel definitely needs a face lift. The breakfast was good and their front desk was helpful with questions we had. Only issue was the AC. The hotel is also about 5 blocks away from the train station, in case you decide to use public transportation. I wouldn't stay here if I had to again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and hotel for the price"
This hotel is right on the beach. The wifi was free and reached the beach area; which was good since the additional costs of sorrounding hotels were ~$20 a day, but bad since it was very slow during busy times (anything after 5pm-1am). The service was great (they let us check-in early and were very helpful when we had questions). The free breakfast […] was great, just a little crowded. The tv was a fairly new flat screen and the mini-fridge had a lot of space for my groceries. The only glaring drawback was a broken AC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Fantastic location and pro staffGenuine Expedia guest review
This was my third consecutive trip to the Olinda Othon Classic in as many years. The very friendly staff and good breakfast spread make this place. The rooms were comfortable, although very plain with a rather dated decor (not exactly "classic"), and old, wood-frame windows that can use an update. March 9 to March 11. Checked out Mar 12. Room 702, looking to the beach. Good view, but noisy even window is closed. Her name is classic, therefore everything is old, 80 year old. Furniture is bunky, television is old, shampoo and conditioner are of lowest quality. Shower only, no plug to hold water for a bath. Toilet is slow and you have to hold the […] flush button to flush. Elevator is small and dark. Carpet of the hallway is old. Breakfast is so so. To conserve the electricity, every day after the room is cleaned and made up, the power is turned off, therefore, the clock is off too and the room is hot when I return. The entrance to the hotel has steps and there is no good way to take luggages inside by yourselve. Her staff helps taking them in and up to the room. She is old, tries to have some facelifts and provides good service to make up with her age. However, she charge 5.5 Reals ($US 3.6) for a bucket of ice (room service) and 20 Reals ($US 13.3) Reals for a day of internet access. Her staff is helpful and friendly. "Very comfortable stay at Olinda"
We stayed at Olinda Othon for 3 nights around Christmas. The hotel is conveniently located, right on Copa Cabana beach. Its not luxurious but very comfortable and the thing that made the most difference for us was the super friendly staff. Everyone at the front desk was so nice, always willing to help and answer question. Hello. Long story short: This hotel is 'good', its right in the middle of the 'action', and, they provide good service. However, If you are looking for luxury- this is not your hotel. A staff member took us to our room, he opened the door and immediately we smelled urine. It was not overwhelming, but, enough to notice and for us to request another […] room. The second room had a ‘small’ urine smell, but, tolerable. The room itself was clean(apart from the urine smell), and comfortable. The air conditioner was good, not excellent. This hotel is right on Avenida Atlantica. If you are looking to be in the middle of the ‘action’, this is your place. You are close to everything. If you are looking to get a good nights sleep, sorry, this is not your hotel(in fact, your in the wrong city). If you can, try to get a room in the upper floors so that the noise from Avenida Atlantica does not reach your room. If you do this, you will be just fine. Other stuff: Hotel staff was great. Breakfast was great. Location was great. Room itself was good. Overall, i would recomend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
