It was very nice about the hotel comfort, but the maintenance of walls needs some new paint. Also very upset b-cause no internet in the rooms.

I got in to the room earlier than the time stipulated, which help me a lot in order to be prepared and have some extra rest... Love it. Overall, I cannot complain. The hotel has an old world feel to it, a sort of faded elegance. The downstairs lobby was small and not condusive to passing the time as you can in a five star hotel. After all, the price for this hotel wasn't cheap although it wasn't in the top range of price either. That said, the help at reception was very good. There is a cafe off the lobby that was comfortable where you could have late afternoon coffee, again not cheap. I left my luggage in a back room, as I said they were very accommodating. Wonderful ! I have stayed at the Claridge since 1983. Love the location, love the food and the service. I knew the Betesh family who owned the hotel for many years. I have used the hotels for all my groups for more than 15 years. I would like to re-start the business with Claridge once again. The purpose of my visit was to check out the hotel.

Location is right by Florida Avenue, which is a pedestrian shopping area. And it's easy to walk to many sites. We felt pretty safe during the day, since there's plenty of activity on the surrounding streets. But come 9 pm the area gets kind of deserted so you'll likely want to take a cab to/from the hotel. This hotel is old and certainly shows it's age. We had to change rooms as the first (#605)smelled badly and the phone did not work. Unlike most hotels in the city, the lobby is not secure, however a room key is need to access the elevator. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great pizza joint a few doors down that has great empanadas. Avoid taxi's directly in front of hotel as traffic is nasty on this street whcih will rack up your tab before getting anywhere. We have stayed at the Claridge more than 6 times. The infrastructure is getting old. The lobby still impressive, the staff very friendly and efficient. They always try to accomodate your special needs. The breakfast buffet very good. The bathroom was clean, the linens old, the beds were small and the air conditioning was noisy, with stains under the […] system. The carpet looks old. The pillows are hard. The area around the hotel during the day is ok, but Calle Florida has so many broken tiles and path holes that it's very hard to walk. The hotel is close by taxi to San Telmo, the Theater Distric, Puerto Madero and La Recoleta. But after 9 pm the streets around the hotel were so dirty, dark and lonely that we didn't want to walk. We took taxis everywhere, even to the the theater district that is only 10 blocks away. We will always keep nice memories of the Claridge..with the wonderful staff and it's old architectural beauty. But for our next trip we are going to look for better options. We have found already other hotels with modern amenities, safer location, beautiful areas to walk, paying a little more money. Thanks. Old hotel, good location. Apparently it used to be 5 star hotel 40 years ago or so. The staff is very friendly, speaks good English. However rooms are real old and need major remodeling - beds are very uncomfortable, bathroom and carpets are real old. Overall OK for the price.

I am very satisfied in general. I would say you have to improve the quality of the coffee and milk served for breakfast. I have not tried other meals.I would also say that the lobby is a little gloomy; may be aditional lighting might help. Anyway, the staff was always helpful and professional.

Well the outside picture that they show is accurate. It is a beautiful building and the lobby is also grand. My room was seriously in need of a facelift. The carpet was stained and the bed sagged. But the essentials were there - room safe and strong water pressure with hot water! Internet was fast enough as long as I "plugged in" e.g. wireless was not […] strong signal. Breakfast - luckily I trend toward cerial, coffee, yogurt, and fruit which were all good. Bacon tasted like in was cooked in fish juice. Waffle was cold, rubber, useless. The front desk attendants were extremely helpful to guide us to the best places to eat, shop and even to make reservation at some attractions. Having been to Buenos Aires 6 or 7 times, I believe the Claridge Hotel is a accurate representation of the Argentine economy. Superficially it may look good, but in reality it is old, poorly maintained and possibly past saving! Any local that hears you are staying at the Claridge will generally raise an eyebrow. From the outside, the building has a […] magnificent facade. Peering through the doors, you will see an impressive marbelled floor lobby, and beautiful old-school restaurant & bar with rich wood pannelled walls and comfy seats. Unfortunately, this magnificence does not carry all the way to their bedrooms. I find it hard to explain how I felt about the rooms, because while it always smelled fresh and clean, there was a general sense of uncleanliness that was only visible from years of use without any renovations. All the areas around the light switches were grimy with fingerprints. These were ingrained in the cushioned fabric wallpaper and were not something that could be just wiped clean. Similar grimy prints were around the door handles on the wardrobes. A quick lick of paint could have solved that issue. Dust around the AC vents was also ingrained into the fabric wallpaper. There are tiny old-school TVs in the rooms. Wifi is patchy at best. Shower curtains are on a straight rail and not curved which wouldn't be too much of a problem if they didn't have plastic shopping bag quality curtain liners that envelope your body while you are trying to shower. It is clear that no money has been invested in this property in years. I will say this though....the staff and service at this hotel is pretty impressive. The first room I checked into had no wifi and the bath-tub drain was blocked. They moved me within minutes and sent someone to my room to ensure I was able to connect to the wifi.
