Schönes Castel an hübscher Lage. Waren beim Buchen der Meinung, dass wir ein Zimmer im Castel gebucht hatten und freuten uns auf dieses, statt dessen wurde uns ein Bungalo im Golfressort zugewiesen. Schade!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The food in this restaurant has to be the most pretentious cuisine we've ever eaten. Or rather not eaten. The salad for starters. What salad? No a single leaf of the plate. The goats cheese was an over whipped mess in random blobs on the plate. Trying to have a master chef appearance but lacking flavour. The main course of sea bass came out cold and over cooked. When I received a fresh one, half way through it was raw! My fiancées fillet steak was like an old leather boot! Creme brûlée for dessert was far too eggy! Worst I've had. Over all this restaurant was shocking. Simple ingredients such as steak and fish mucked up. Not good enough. Also, extremely understaffed. I wouldn't take a present of a free dining experience here again. Very disappointed.

We stayed at the Waterford Castle villas for one night on New Year's and enjoyed a gourmet dinner at the castle restaurant for our New Year's treat. If you want to eat dinner here I would recommend reserving ahead of time. The setting is mesmerizing and the food and service equal the royal tone. What a magical experience this place is. Our dinner at the castle was mouthwatering delicious and served in the utmost elaborate manner with attention to personal needs which made us feel very special. We had a small family of 3 adults so the villa was perfect with it's 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, offering privacy as well as togetherness. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in the living room of the villa and found it very handy to have a washer and dryer as well as easy wifi connection and an HD TV. The property was beautiful and was a wonderful adventure to explore on foot, with fleeting herds of deer running through the grounds. There was a beautiful live Christmas tree that was as tall as the ceilings in the reception room and decorated so richly that it took you back in time - fitting for the venue with it's massive wood burning fireplace in the same room. The staff was very accommodating, particularly our dinner waiter and the receptionist. Breakfast is set in a lovely and sunlit part of the castle and is also worth taking. The castle has an interesting and very significant role in Irish history so be sure to ask for information about it. I liked the fact that the grounds were so stately and private, yet only a very short ferry ride to Waterford City where we found a wealth of historical sites and museums, fun events like ice skating, nice shops to snoop around in where prices seemed much more reasonable than in Galway or Dublin. I would definitely return to stay here again and would recommend it for a special experience while in Waterford.

A real castle in Waterford city. The restaurant is fitting for a castle.the food is very good and the cost not exorbitant for what you get. The ferry across makes it quiet special to see wild deer roam around the island is cool.

We stayed here beginning New Year's Eve for 2 nights for a wedding; and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The dining room menu is excellent and having sampled their quail starter and venison main course which were both cooked to perfection. As the castle itself was booked out we stayed in the Lodges built beyond the golf club house. Leaving the hotel at night to go to the car park was unpleasant as one had to negotiate a dark muddy path that was very poorly lit. The lodges are 2 storey 3 bedroomed apartments with a generous downstairs living room cum kitchen fully equipped with cooker, washing machine, drier, and island sink unit. Satellite TV is provided and an effective gas heater in "burning log effect" enclosure. Sadly the exterior is filthy dirty with damp mould staining many of the external walls, and wet leaves were piled up against the front door giving an impression of neglect. A person working here for a week with a pressure washer would make an uplifting difference. Our bedroom carpets were stained and need to be well cleaned or replaced. This has to be a super island to explore in good weather/and summer; and we saw badgers and deer at night as we disembarked the ferry. Will be going back later this year.

Our family stayed during the Holiday Season and it was spectacular. The service was wonderful, decor marvelous and our Christmas dinner was delicious and elegant. We loved our walks around the grounds and island, also enjoyed the ferry ride. It was very close to the beautiful city of Waterford.
We stay here every second year got our anniversary and the service is always fantastic. The menu is five star with imaginative and mouth watering dishes. The island is great for a walk too before sipping a drink by the fire in the wonderful lounge area

this is where I want the reception to be held. Recently visited WCH for a family wedding. Our party was large enough to book out the whole place (which sounds rather grand but I believe there are less than 20 rooms) so we were able to enjoy a very relaxing stay. We (my wife & I) only stayed for one night so had one of the rooms without a "view" (still extremely comfortable) but I'm told the upstairs rooms were even larger & more ornate. A wedding meal can be an ordeal (foodwise) but everyone in the party really enjoyed both the choices & quality of what was provided. We took advantage of the golf next day & were quite surprised just how good the course was (design & condition). For any Americans reading, this is not Gleneagles (but nothing in GB&I really comes close). Nevertheless an overall top notch experience, warmly recommended.

We travel frequently and this was no doubt one of our most memorable destinations. The castle is the perfect size, small enough to be intimate, large enough to be considered royal. We arrived on a cold afternoon and immediately grabbed a cocktail and spot by the fire after checking in. A beautiful Christmas tree, lovely music and an attentive, but not overbearing staff made our evening superb. They allowed us to order small plates to enjoy on the couch by the fire, the food was outstanding. We must have sat there for hours. It was bliss. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated staying true to the castle theme, but with touches of extra comfort. Our stay continued to impress when we enjoyed breakfast the next morning in a beautiful light-filled room. Once again the service and food quality were top notch. I am so happy we chose this as our "castle stay" on our trip around Ireland. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, hopefully with more time to explore the island grounds. Well done Waterford!
