"Excellent and quiet hotel"
08/21/14 Vacation00002 Knoxville, Tennessee
Though it is a little difficult to find at first, this hotel is charming. The staff is especially helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Because the castle is on an island accessible only by its own private ferry, noise is not a problem. Breakfasts are very good and nicely served. This is a good choice for a stay in a real castle. There's so much to do in the Waterford area, and this hotel is conveniently away from the crowds. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night & glad I did. You take a ferry to get to the island. Unfortunately it's not within walking distance once you exit the ferry into the city so you need your car but there is plenty of street & lot parking in central Waterford. The castle is in a beautiful setting with nice grounds to walk around if you're not a golfer. Our room was spacious, bright, overlooked the water & was very comfortable. Staff was helpful & attentive. The main dining room was very good & we enjoyed a nice 3 course meal. Breakfast was also quite good with lots of choices. I would stay here again.
"Maintain the lodges"

Management please please over the quiet season do some maintenance on your lodges. These are fantastic houses however standards have slipped. TV volume muted itself when watching. Numerous blubs not working. Immersion stopped working during stay though was quickly fix by maintenence. Cleanliness was also questionable as lumps of dust under furniture and curtains. Mismatch of cutlery and delph in the kitchen. Houses need painting. There is a large cable protruding from grass area between houses. We informed reception that this was an accident waiting to happen and said they would get it looked at. Despite above issues really enjoyed stay. Staff v friendly. Hopefully when we retur; lodges will have improved.
"Fabulous Castle - Relax and Enjoy"

This is a real castle that has been converted to semi modern convenences. The staff was outstanding - Nicole was amazing at giving us information on the night life and where to find traditional irish music. BOOK the dinner!!! It was all unbelievable and paired with the perfect wine - thanks again Nicole! The grounds are outstanding - it is a place to relax - play some golf if you want but mostly just walk with the person you want to be with for the rest of your life around their beautiful grounds.

Recently experienced a one night stay in a lodge - a family of five. The castle was not accessible due to a wedding taking place. Lodges/house were spacious and were very well equipped with kitchen items, washing machine, tumble dryer. House had three bedrooms, four bathrooms, large kitchen/diner/sitting area-brilliant lay out but whole house badly needs painted and glass on balconies and windows need a deep clean. There was a small park for children and a zip line, which they loved, nearby. Wifi did not work. Nothing special.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apt, for 1 week in August with family and friends ,we found staff extremely helpful with any little problems in rooms. we were blow away with the whole holiday , From start to finish everything was out of this world for Relaxation and Stress free, we would loved to stay longer but it was all booked up. A very big thank you to Linda who helped out on booking and our extra nights, plus a great thank you to all staff , who could not have made our HOLIDAY any better. WE WILL BE BACK. This was extremely Safe and Child friendly.Anthony &Mary Drogheda
"we love this place but standards are dropping"

We stayed at the golf lodges for a week and this is our 3rd time in the past 5 years. Now the hotel is in NAMA (state agency who take over loans that are unserviceable) and we can see that standards of maintenance are slipping. Balcony with weeds and ash saplings, dishwasher in need of repair, doors stiff upstairs and some balcony doors not opening. these are only small things but must be looked after. the island is special because of the car ferry which is always a trill for the children, the island walk is beautiful and to see the deer roaming really adds to the isolated and tranquil feeling. We ate at the hotel on one night and the food was superb and the attention of the bar man was exceptional. we went for an early bird and we were very disappointed with the room that we were shown to for our meal, it was behind the bar just off the dining room, two table were un cleared from afternoon tea, and it was soulless and we really felt like we were being out of the way. the bar man offer to move us to the bar after speaking to the manager but the couches and tables are too low for eating. this was not a runner but he said this was a new managers idea and he was trying it, The club house is good value for food, all the staff are friendly, except john who was rude on our first night (9.50pm Saturday) with an introduction of "we are not a late bar" and chewing gum, there was 12 golfers in the bar at the time) but this was an isolated incident. if you are a golfer this course is fantastic and well thought out layout.

My family stayed at Waterford Castle during a recent trip to Ireland and it was absolutely incredible! Our rooms were stunning and we were treated so well. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
"Tranquil island escape, loved every minute"
We stayed in the lodges and they were fantastic. They were supurbly finished and well equipped. Really friendly staff. I will definately return as I never wanted to leave. The deer roaming around were beautiful to see and the children loved every minute.
