Hotel was modern, comfortable, clean and had an amazing shower!! Only complaint would bebthe hotel staff excessively coming into our room, they would knock and wait two seconds and just walk in. In the two nights we stayed here this happened 5 time while we were In the room so who knows how many times in total.

I wanted a change from the normal hotel chains. I'm a frequent business visitor to Hamburg and have stayed at most of the other large hotels in the center part of the city. The Side Hotel lobby and room decor was different but aside from having closets that look like large wall mounted white refrigerators and lots of glass and mirror, the hotel did […] not meet my expectations. I spend 7 nights at the Side and got to use most of the facilities. My first encounter was with a receptionist who didn't seem very familiar with the hotel. Although, other receptionists later in the week were both friendly and knowledgeable. Although the room I had did have a window, it only opened to the exterior decor pane of glass which does not open. Thus no ventilation to the outside. This was unfortunate since the hotel has no real air conditioning and I could not get the room temperature below 22 deg C. I asked about this twice early in the week and was told twice that it would be adjusted to have a lower set-point. However, the problem remained. There are no irons or ironing boards in the room and housekeeping will not provide one. The only way to get clothing pressed is to send them to the valet. My 7 shirts cost €30 to iron. On the plus side: Internet access is free for 3 hours a day The continental breakfast buffet is fantastic but a bit expensive (€23) The fitness center is simple but there is a nice pool in the basement Nespresso machine in the room with pods replaced daily Read more

I find when booking discounted rooms you get what you pay for. I was given a wheelchair accessible so called Premium room with a Queen size bed. Bedding was terrible, the room also looked very tired and in my opinion the Hotel Side is in need of a refurbishment! We stayed there as a couple but it seemed to be predominantly people on business, especially men. Room was very nice, not huge but adequate and very comfortable. Excellent bed and bedding (about which I'm a bit fussy)' good TV with some English-speaking news channels and good bathroom with superb, huge towels, changed every evening as well as morning! The […] pool was very good, bracing but superb and with excellent changing facilities/showers/lockers and open at good times from 6am to 11pm. I went in early in the morning and got the pool to myself each time- bliss. 2 minor suggestions which I offered on my hotel evaluation sheet: the hair dryer was fixed in the bathroom whereas I prefer one to be available in the room though there was no mirror in the bedroom either. The hair dryer itself was one of those which needed you to hold down the on switch all the time and they are a pain, literally. I also suggested a tea/coffee maker in the room. We used to go to a lovely little cafe in the Botanic Gardens nearby for a late night drink which amazingly stayed open till 11pm. Even local Starbucks closed a bit early at 8.30 or 9.30pm. Apart from these points, it was a very good hotel, very friendly and efficient staff, very good location within 10 minutes walk from the city centre/Alster lake yet in a quiet side street so peaceful. Excellent base and great designs. Again ..position of hotel was excellent. The only gripe was that draw space in room is not good. Though some shelf space in the wardrobe door. wardobes are definitely unusual like space pods !

This is a high quality hotel with excellent amentities and attentive staff. It is not however to my opersonal taste as it is so 'designery' in feel that I found it difficult to relax there.

Easy parking right next to hotel in Gänsemarkt Parking facility. Walking distance to town center. Alster lake is only 400m away. Hamburg is such a nice town for shopping and a relaxing weekend break. The hotel was very pleasant except for the fact that I could not turn down the heating in the room - so luckily the windows opened and I was able to keep the room cool that way. The sink goes not hold water. The lighting around the mirror cannot be turned off without removing the room card leaving the electricity off during the night.

I can't find any fault with this place! Great welcome at reception, very helpful. Hotel 1 minute from Underground on U2 , runs all night, less than 5 minutes to the central (HBF) station. Boutique hotel with extremly comfortable rooms - not faar from the Opera house.

My wife and I both really enjoyed our stay at the SIDE hotel in Hamburg.It was ideally positioned for us to explore the city on foot and the rooms were very comfortable. The only downside was the lack of any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms-something we had never previously experienced on our travels worldwide.
