"Clean hotel, convenient location, scarce amenities"
Room and bathroom clean. Amenities quite scarce (no internet, small TV, room was spacious but empty) Hotel staff not friendly but not rude either. However overall a positive experience, definitely worth the money paid, close to subway and downtown (Stephansplatz/Volkstheater) very easily accessible. "Tourotel Mariahilf Hotel in Vienna"
Bargin for the price. Very friendly staff and everybody in the front desk was fluent in English, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Not the best location in Vienna, but not too bad either. In Walking distance from Westbahnhof station. Very clean and well-maintained. Just couple not so great stuff with American standards. 1. No wifi connection in […] our rooms. However free wifi is available in the lobby. 2. Breakfast is not included in the price, but you can find couple good resturants or bars in a very close proximity. "The Tourotel Mariahilf in Vienna"
My husband and I stayed at Tourotel and both of us were very excited about the services and location of this hotel. Room where we stayed was very spacious, bright and clean. The staff was very attentive and promptly to our requests. Sincere pleasure to recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel location was the best thing about it. it is located in one of the hugest shopping streets in vienna, Mariahilfer strasse, and its almost a 7 minutes walk from the metro station. plenty of eateries/ convenient stores close by. Hotel condition was fine, and the room was HUGE.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I stayed in the Hotel in the third week of January 2012. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and metro, so it is possible to get anywhere. We got a very big room by European standards. The room were clean, had everything you need. Minuses are paid breakfasts and paid online and twin beds. Good location, average room, small (19" TV), only 2 English channels (CNN & Eurosport). Taxi driver (We ordered a taxi for an early departure to airport) was a Cheater, car was dirty and stinks, reckless driving, totally unpleasant driver and a ride for more money than we were told @ the front desk. I strongly believe that the Hotel stuff should have […] list of the several Taxi drivers (on call) with the decent cars for an early airport shuttle service. "Great location, great price, great hotel"
Centrally located to visit different parts of the city with only a couple stops on the tram or on the metro. Large, clean and comfortable rooms that are not overly furnished. "Satisfied with Hotel"
We were very satisfied with this Hotel. It was clean and comfortable. Our only concern was the distance it is from many of the sights we wanted to see, But, it was an interesting walk to the main sights and there is public transportation. There are many shops and eateries on the way to the old city. I would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Tourhotel Mariahilf was just what we needed. My partner and I are not into 5-star accommodation. We prefer to spend our vacation money on sight-seeing, eating and good times. Hotels are for sleeping, showering and resting. Tourhotel was perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were centrally located and could come and go easily. I do […] wish they had a better internet connection. We paid to check in online, but their setup was very slow. Fortunately, there was a restaurant next door with better internet options. "NO INTERNET SERVICE"
This hotel is fine for the remarkably cheap price I got through hotels.com. However, for someone who needs regular internet access, this place is a joke. Not only is there no internet service available in the rooms, but they charge 2.50 EUR for one half hour (!!) of internet service, only in the lobby. When I expressed my surprise at this outrageous […] fee, and the lack of internet service in the rooms as advertised on hotels.com and here, they reacted with much surprise. As if internet service in 2011 was some sort of rare luxury in a hotel. I would advise anyone who needs internet to stay elsewhere and spend their money more effectively. "Decent location for navigating the city."
For getting around the city, this hotel does the trick. The neighborhood is so so but the hotel is well kept. The bar next door (Mariahilferbrau) has excellent food and service. The Good: Location, Public transport, Many restaurants around, Parking can be reserved The Bad: Parking price is high, NO FREE INTERNET!!Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at Tourotel for 3 consecutive nights in Aug '11. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The reason why I chose this hotel was the decent rate and the close proximity to the train station. The location is very convenient to the train station which connects to other major cities, 10-15 walk to the shopping district, lots of cheap and good restaurants […] and coffee shops nearby , and mini grocery stores. It is 4 stops away from the main city. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to visit Vienna. The room is clean, spacious, and quiet. The bathroom is pretty decent with a nice shower head. The bed, which is two twin beds pushed together is comfortable. I just wished they had an extra pillow for when you want to elevate your legs after an all day walk in the city. The only downside with this hotel is the Wi-Fi. You have to go down to the lobby, where the signal is, and ask for the password which is good for 30mins use/ day. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"very friendly staff , location is excellent if you are using the train"
the hotel is closely located to the west train station walking distance is about 10 minutes, the reception is very friendly and helpful, going to the city center by metro is very easy its just a 7 minute straight walk the station and you can reach the city center in just 15 minutes the latest. the hotel is reasonably priced and clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
Firstly, only 30 minutes access to the wifi per 24 hours was embarrassing in this era. So called queen bed is like tiny bed for patients in hospitals, barely one can lay down. Very small room without air-condition, or fan. That was extremely hot inside until midnight which was very uncomfortable. Neighborhood seems to be street girls area, embarrassing. "Tourotel Mariahilf in seedy part of Vienna"
I will start out by being nice: the hotel was clean, spacious and well-maintained. It is the only hotel I've ever been to in Europe that had a full-sized bathtub in the cavernous bathroom. Now for the not-so-nice... This didn't seem to be a four star hotel at all (maybe that bathtub pushes it over?). This hotel is located several blocks from the […] train/metro station and isn't as convenient as it may appear on a street map. During the day, it's an OK neighborhood with shops and restaurants. Once the sun goes down, there are streetwalkers and pimps on nearly every corner between the train station and the hotel. The area did not leave me feeling safe. The hotel's internet usage policy is very confusing. Free WIFI is available in the lobby as advertised. Usage is limited to 30 minutes a day (fair enough). However, usage requires a separate password per person per day. So, if you travel in a large group and each person in the group wants to use the internet, each person would have stand in line at the front desk and get a print out with separate passwords/user names. Supposedly minutes roll over during the day - but it was my experience that they did not. It was just too much of a hassle to quickly check email or the weather forecast. I completely understand having a network password and even a time limit - but not for EVERY PERSON. It's a bit extreme. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best front desk staff in Vienna"
The location on Mariahilfe Strasse is very convenient to the West Bahnhof. Mariahilfe Strasse has great shopping ... it is a bit of a walk downtown but on our first day we just walked down Mariahilfe Strasse browsing in stores all the way to the Albertina Museum. The front desk staff at this hotel was wonderful ... extremely helpful, knowledgeable and […] welcoming. Our room was very large and clean. The door key is not like any other hotel I have stayed in ... once you get the hang of it there is no issue getting into your room but be prepared to possibly make several attempts your first time before you get the door to open. I would stay here again primarily for 2 reasons ... the front desk staff and the convenience of this hotel to the West Bahnhof. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was an absolutely terrible hotel! It was in the worst neighborhood with extremely shady looking characters. We were given a room on the third floor which does not have an elevator leading to it. We had to drag our luggage up an elevator to the second floor, and then by foot to the third flood via a stair case. The room was tiny with the most uncomfortable […] bed and pillows. Also, there was hair on the sheets from the previous patrons. The water in the shower was either boiling hot or ice cold and there was no way to regulate it to a normal temperature. The attendant is gone during the night and so there is no service before 8am. Also, the internet – which is supposed to be free for a half hour – was down for half a day during our stay. Although the metro is relatively close – the walk there is not a pleasant one due to characters walking the street. The TV was a tube TV from the 70’s. Had I known all of this I would have gladly spent $50 more per night for a different hotel. This almost ruined our whole Vienna experience. Do not stay here!!! "I would go back only if it's cleaner"
The reception desk was helpful, however one of the ladies was not too friendly. The gentleman was very nice, friendly and always helpful. The housekeeping lady barely came to clean my room. The room had dustbites which the morning of my last stay, I broke out with hives, which I went to the […] pharmcy near by so I can get something for the itching and the pharmacist told me there were dust-bites. "Traveler's Best Option"
This is the right place to stay. The hotel is located a five minute walk from a main transportation hub. Westbanhoff. You take the S7 train from the airport for 3.60 euros to the U3 subway line headed toward Ottakring. Get off at Westbanhoff. Take a right down Mariahilfer Strasse. The hotel is on the right side of the street - it's about five minutes. […] The hotel staff are just five stars. Helpful friendly and genuinely kind. They speak English and they are just great. No worries. There is internet service in the lobby if you don't have a laptop. The room was clean, pleasant, and modern. I was almost never in the room as I was sightseeing but the place was nice. Mariahilfe Strasse is a main shopping street and you can find almost any kind of store along it. This hotel is halfway between the Hofburg and its museums and Schonbrunn Palace. Both are worth seeing. I never ate the breakfast at the hotel. They have a breakfast bar. I should really stress here that the hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. After nine hours of flying and an hour in from the airport it made all the difference in the world to me to have a good reception at this hotel, and I did. Nice lobby too. There was no tub. I didn't care but some people might. The room looked out on an inner court that was lovely. This is a good choice if you are a traveler looking for a good solid hotel. I very highly recommend this hotel. There were no unpleasant surprises and the staff is excellent. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Big Rooms, Big Bathrooms, BIG breakfast"
Nice Hotel, staff very helpful (the blond girl at the reception could've been a tiny bit friendlier) but the best thing about it is the all you can eat breakfast. There's everything you can possibly think of, you can even make your own pancakes!Genuine Expedia guest review
As a regular traveller, I don't think I have come across such poor service before from frontline staff. As soon as my friend and I arrived, we were accosted in a disagreeable manner by the unsmiling man working at reception. I politely stated that I thought breakfast was included as part of the deal (I appreciate I got my wires crossed here) and was […] greeted with an abrupt bark of 'no!' Great first impression. Throughout the course of our stay there, we found the staff to be rude, abrupt and unfriendly. On our second day there, we returned from our sightseeing to find our room had been left open by the cleaner all day. These things happen but understandably annoyed and disappointed by this, we went to talk to the same receptionist who again proved to be obnoxious and unsympathetic. Not at any stage did he nor his colleague (she too barked at us with 'is anything taken?') initially apologise and it was as if we were in the wrong for bringing it to their attention?! Very bizarre behaviour. I think the hotel needs to look hard at its customer service as it is clearly lacking in every department. Aside from that, the room was fine and clean but sadly the service left a real bitter taste in the mouth... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"More like a hospital, than a hotel"
As soon as I checked in to my room and was about to go to the shower, the door opened and another lady tried to come in. She was given exactly the same key to my room. When I complained at the reception about it, they thought nothing of it, saying that this mistakes happen. When I said, that my door would not close from inside and is probably broken, […] the receptionist made me look as if I can't operate the locks. When she eventually went up with me and realised that the door was broken, she said, that there is no point to lock the door from the inside and that I should trust people more. I was offered another room, but was told to move straight away, so I had less time on sightseeing on the first day. After all the receptionist offered one free breakfast at the nearby restaurant, which was nice, but could not completely erase the bad experience. Throughout the whole stay I felt more like being in the hospital on weekend with basic facilities. Would never return or recommend to my friends. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"too expensive comparing the quality"
My rubbish bin in the toilet wasn't emptied, no possibility to make coffee or tea for myself, breakfast available 300 m away, but it is necessary to go outside - so with bad weather it is not the best solution. If you come with few baggages, opening the entrance door is not easy, and getting to reception require strairs or steep slope.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location of hotel is close to railway station (100m). Room was big and quiet but there's no WIFI in the room. Door is a bit difficult to operate the first time (was shown by the reception how to operate the door lock) but once you get the hang of it, it's fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location, decent service"
The hotel is well placed close to the West Railway Station, so easily accessible if travelling by train or arriving by airplane. There are buses, trams and metros nearby, so it can be used as base for exploring the city. The rooms are fairly comfortable, spacious and clean. The major negative point for the overall comfort of guests is the lack of internet […] connection in rooms: neither wired nor wireless. There is a wireless network available in the main lobby, free of charge, but sitting in an armchair with people walking past is not the best place to work or have a Skype call. "Very disappointing, not living up to its rating!!"
This hotel greatly disappointed my daughter and I. We had many issues...soiled old bloodstained duvet, [totally unacceptable], no peep hole in door, no hotel computer for guest use [told waiting to be repaired], unhelpful staff, out of date peanuts in vending machine, to name a few. On morning of checking out, an unknown male tried to access our room […] even though our door was locked whilst we were preparing to leave! He was able to actually enter the room but made a hasty retreat once he realised we were still there! So what peace of mind does that give a guest when out for the day? There is no safe holding area for guest luggage when departing, the area can be clearly seen from the lift; also no ticket system in place to ensure how many pieces of luggage are left. This is just asking for trouble. This was pointed out to hotel receptionist, she told me she could see this area all the time, but having watched her check other guests in, this was an impossibility whilst dealing with the guests. Also no public toilet in reception area, told to use the staff toilet. The cleaners clearly resented this and were giving their comments in German, which I could understand with my basic knowledge. All these issues were pointed out to reception, buy I get the impression they simply did not care. When the soiled duvet was complained about, I was merely given a cheap classical cd...not impressed. Complained to Expedia about my concerns. This hotel would not even reply to their last e mails. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location and Helpful Staff"
Me and my wife recently stayed in Tourotel Mariahilf in last week of September 2013. The hotel has a great location with easy access to trams and train station. All the site seeing can be done through this location. I would want to mention below few great experiences that we had during our stay: The Hotel have their check-in at 2pm, but we reached early […] around 8:30 Am in the morning. After a long and tiring flight, we asked the staff if they can give us an early check-in and to my surprise they allowed us for an early check-in (and that too without any extra charges). The second great experience was that after we checked-in the room, we wanted to have a room which will give us a better view. So we again requested the staff and she happily gave us another room which had a good view of the main street. A blonde young lady (don’t remember her name) helped us with our room checking. The third experience was with another staff (A Filipino mix guy) he helped us in planning our tour and sightseeing and gave us lot of suggestions to plan our day. Overall had an amazing experience with our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Solid 3 star hotel with excellent staff"
The hotel is fine for a short stay and our room was large enough to be comfortable but with rather spartan furnishings which had seen better days. The only 'extra' was a hairdryer in the bathroom. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and WiFi could only be accessed from the lobby.
