Was so disappointed in the service at this hotel. My husband and I chose this hotel to celebrate our 20th anniversary. My husband had phoned ahead to guest services to request that the hotel provide flowers, chocolates, champagne, etc. to make our anniversary even more memorable. When we arrived at 4:30 p.m. not only was our room not ready for us but […] when we went up to the room none of the surprises he had requested were in the room. We later ordered food to be brought up to the room which never arrived. We have the room with a Ocean View and Fire Pit - amazing! We could sit outside, watch the ocean and relax. The hotel even came by and asked if we wanted anything. Awesome! We got a Smores kit - again Awesome! Only issue I had is why can't hotels ensure the tiles in the shower do not have mildew. Just drives me crazy!

The rooms are quite large and very charming. The location of the hotel is remote and very romantic. The outdoor restaurant/bar service was excellent. The hotel restaurants in the hotel are superb. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and will definitely return.

It was my first experience of staying such a high quality hotel. It exceeded most all of my expectations. The room was completely lovely, with a totally cozy bed and pillows. I went to a wedding in San Francisco. The Wedding was in Presidio Country Club and there are not that many nearby hotels. We decided to stay in Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton even though it was a little far from Presidio Country Club. We never regret that we made such choice. The place is more beautiful than I anticipated.

Service is second to none. The rooms however are just another hotel room. Nothing special. I've stay in nicer rooms for far less money. Plenty of other hotels in the area just as nice for more reasonable prices. We won't be staying here again.

Great location at Half Moon Bay! Unbelievable view of ocean! 5-star location with 4-star hotel, in my opinion. Walls are too thin. I could hear the cleaning staff in hallway every morning, and hear them clean the rooms next door. Windows needed some maintenance, and room thermostat was very outdated (something you don't expect from 5-star hotel). Bed […] wasn't quite what I expect from 5-star hotel either: head board kept squeaking (even with minor movement), and bed wasn't firm. Staff was friendly, throughout, and walking trail along the golf course and beach is definitely memorable (although, at one time, I was almost hit by the gold ball -- the golfers didn't yell 'fore' to warn me). This is definitely a 5-star location. Hotel itself (especially thin wall, able to hear next door shower running, hearing rooms being cleaned, etc) is 4-star at best, not 5-start (especially compared to other Ritz or even Four Seasons). Staff friendly but inexperienced. Hotel is in a beautiful location and the rooms a bit worn and the furniture tiring. Also we had a firepit room but we had to move our room furniture to access the patio door. This is my 2nd time staying in a firepit room and I am just not impressed at all.

Spectacular accommodations with stunning views. We were able to watch the bagpiper on the golf course bluff play Amazing Grace with a gorgeous sunset as a backdrop. Would have thought we were in Scotland somewhere. It's a picture in my memory that will last a lifetime.

Beautiful ocean view, every amenity one would want at a resort hotel, they will drive you in to Half Moon Bay for dinner and pick you up. Beds were extremely comfortable.

One word could sum this place up, FANTASTIC The only issue I really had was the price to vallet park. It was a lot just to park a car. Other then that, I cannot speak more highly of a place. The server we had for dinner was named Ferris, this kid was fantasic, one of the best servers I have had. Very friendly, very outgoing and not afraid to hold a conversation. I highly recommend the rotisserie chicken. It is the best I have ever had. They de-bone the chicken breast. The only bone is in the wing portion. Ferris took the time to explain the type of hen that is used for this dish, it is a special hen. Just fantastic. The other person assisting at dinner was Forest (The only reason I remember their names is because of 2 different movies). He was great too, but we did not have much interaction with him. We loved our room. I was going to put the room number we stayed in because it was in a perfect location, but I want to make sure that I get it next time I stay there! I was shocked by the gouging by the hotel. For the cost, this hotel is way short of a Loews or Four Seasons. The pool is aged, off property and shared with a local HOA. Valet is priced ridiculously, as is the brunch. Rooms are the smallest in this price range.

We have been going to the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay since it first opened, and it gets better and better every time. Since we live in San Francisco, a one hour ride from home is just perfect to let us feel as if we have gone on vacation. The ride down the coast has majestic views of the surf and the sand, adventurous surfers if the waves are big […] enough, and curvy roads that gave Devil's Slide its name. They know your name at the entrance booth, and your car and baggage are swiftly dealt with by strapping young men who look as if they stepped off a Scottish golf course in the 1940's. Pumpkins, certain to be contest winners for their size, decorated the front of the port cochere, and they were busily getting the Winter holiday decorations all set to put up. We immediately felt as if everything would be taken care of for us from that moment on. We usually opt for a King sized room on the Club floor, but this time, we were able to get a one bedroom suite on the top floor for just a bit more money. No club room privileges, but that was fine with us. Instead, we were able to order room service directly from the fine restaurant. Wonderful food! The suite was beautiful, as was the bedroom.
