Overview

The Westin Hotel is a modern hotel hidden behind the grand 19th century facade of the Allied Irish Bank and overlooking Trinity College in Dublin city centre. The hotel features 163 guestrooms decorated in rich colours with mahogany furniture and views of the atrium lounge or city centre. All rooms have signature Heavenly Beds with pillowtop mattresses, triple sheeting and down duvets, as well as LCD televisions, climate control, complimentary newspapers, and wireless Internet access (surcharge).
The lobby features polished marble pillars, a fireplace and sofas. The 19th century Banking Hall is the focal point of the business centre, offering Internet access and conference facilities in an ornate setting with Egyptian crystal chandeliers and its own access to College Street. The Exchange Restaurant features Art Deco detailing and serves international dishes, with jazz brunches on Sundays. Traditional Irish dishes and beers are offered in the Mint Bar, which was originally the bank's vault; the Atrium Lounge serves cocktails in a refined setting of palm trees and marble floors, the lofty glass roof five floors above. Fitness enthusiasts can sweat it out in the gymnasium and guests can receive therapeutic spa treatments in their own rooms. Parking is assisted by the hotel valet and costs 20 EUR per day. Dublin Airport is ten kilometres from the hotel.

The Westin Dublin Temple Bar - Dublin Castle

A short guide to Temple Bar - Dublin Castle

This small enclave by the river was developed into Dublin’s Cultural Quarter in the 1980s, and soon became the city’s nightlife centre. Temple Bar is still devoted to eating, drinking, entertainment, and shopping. By day, it’s an arty alternative hangout; by night, groups of partying tourists make it a rowdier haunt. Near the famous Ha’penny Bridge, Merchants’ Arch retains some of the area’s atmosphere from a century or so ago.

We were offered an inside atrium facing room or an outside street facing room. Sadly, we chose the atrium facing room which was warm and stuffy. The AC if it had any was not available and the windows were useless. For the price, I think you can do better.

This hotel is in the heart of Dublin. Minutes from Temple Bar, St Stephen's Green, and Grafton St you couldn't ask for a better location. It's easy to get out and walk around or hop the train (Tara Station is a few blocks away) and head to Belfast or Howth or some other destination. The hotel was lovely - just what I expect from a Westin. Comfortable, American style rooms with a large bed and beautiful bathroom. Absolutely worth every penny. We'll stay there again when we return.

The staff were extremely helpful on a number of items both relating and not relating to our hotel experience. The price was extremely competitive, especially when taking into account the experience received. Absolutely highly recommended. Our second Westin stay and thus far, we are big fans!

We loved this hotel and the location (right next to Trinity College and walking distance to shopping and Temple Bar). But, the room was not cleaned very well during our entire stay (hair in the bathroom, crumbs on the floor etc.). Also, steer clear of the room service ($30+ dollars per person for breakfast). Overall, we were happy and would stay there again.

We stayed two nights at the start of a three week trip driving around Ireland, and two nights at the end of the trip, when we could compare this property with many others all over the country. It's a fine hotel, after all it is a Westin, but the staff are beyond wonderful. They simply couldn't do enough for us, including unloading our rental car at rush hour, giving directions for its return, and when we arrived, our luggage was in the room we hadn't even checked into yet! Try to get a room on the Trinity College side, it's much quieter. We'll stay here again.

On a 23day trip through Ireland (our first)this was our first and last stop, two nights each time. First time, we were overwhelmed with the "what else can we do" attitude. After experiencing that attitude all over this wonderful country, we were still mightily impressed with the professionalism and competence of the staff, and the excellent condition and location of this hotel. Temperature controls are not always controlled from the room, but a call brought immediate response. A call, however, is necessary, even to be able to open the windows, which provided a magnificant view of Trinity college on our side.

This hotel is centrally located close to the Grafton St and Temple Bar areas. The neighborhood is VERY walkable with all kinds of pubs, restaurants and shops close by. Our deluxe room was large and comfortable with a king size bed and large bath - not the standard European size room. Room was internal (no outward facing window) and it was quiet. Would've loved to have had an outside facing window (but did enjoy the peace and quiet). We didn't interact a lot with the staff - our stay was smooth. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Dublin!!

I arrived at 7 AM and they immediately gave me keys to my room (8 hours early) which was awesome. The location of this hotel is excellent. Close enough to walk to many things if you chose to do so. Now having said that, two of the four nights I stayed here I could hear yelling and screaming on the street below. The service left something to be desired. I ate in all three restaurants. At two of them, I had to get up and get my own menu and ask for my check. At the third, I arrived for breakfast and was told they were "almost" closing but they would serve me. Was the comment to encourage me to eat fast... I would describe the rooms as above average but not worth the money I paid.

Let me admit up front that I am not used to staying at 5 star, or even 4 star hotels. I got this one when a different hotel cancelled at the last moment and hotels.com upgraded me and paid the difference. Fantastic service from hotels.com! The Westin is a nice hotel but if you don't have money to burn you'd be happier in a less pricy option. Breakfast is not included, and runs $30 at the current exchange rate. Phone calls are $7 a minute and a movie runs over $20 on the TV. Perhaps the people who stay here like these prices to keep the riffraff out, but as a member of said riffraff I'd recommend staying in a 3 star. Several 3 stars I booked through hotels.com offerred a similar room with breakfast included and the extras (such as mini-bar) didn't break the bank.
