"second stay in 4 years"
This the second time i stayed at Hotel Planet and it's about rhe same. Chose it for location to termini station and private bath and simple room. The first time in 2010 was one night. Good location for catching train. If you need a good location to train and Metro, and private shower. This place will suffice. Its not the Ritz, so don't except it. The only good thing about this hotel is its convenient location near Termini Station. Everything else was dreadful: the staff was not polite, rooms were not being cleaned properly (sometimes not being cleaned at all), brearfast was in the cafe nearby with testless coffee and yesetrday's pastry, the bed was uncomfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel for 1 night stay in Rome"
Hotel is located right next to train station in Rome. Great for one night stay. Very simple accomodations. Breakfast included is basic bread and coffee or orange juice at a cafe across the street.
"Great Location, not so great hotel"
06/20/14 Rb008 Birmingham, United Kingdom
We were originally booked in one of the associated hotels a street away S.Blu hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist who appeared angry about something started shouting at someone on the phone(this was a oriental lady) she then told us we would be staying at the planet hotel. We followed here. She was still as grumpy as ever. She directed us to our room which was very basic. Double bed, with a old wardrobe & two old bedside tables with a dressing mirror & table. All ok but abit dated. Bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom was 2ft by 2ft. It consisted of the shower (with a shower curtain) a toilet & sink. When you tried to have a shower the shower curtain would stick up your body cause there was such little space. Again, everything was Abit dated. For a 2* I suppose it is what you would expect. The breakfast was in a cafe & it consisted of a pastry & a coffee. One morning we were told there were no more tickets left to get breakfast it was only 9am. Also, if you woke up late the water would be cold when having a shower. Some nights it was very noisy - this was usually from the other occupants staying in the hotel usually at 4-5am. The hotel never put a stop to the noise. Good points were the hotel location is a few steps away from the Rome Termini station (train & metro) & the main bus stands are near too. Bus takes you straight to Vatican City. With this on the doorstep you can plan your trips anywhere. A 5 day pass on their tube will cost 24 euro which is excellent compared to the UK. A trip to Pompeii is also very easy. You take a train to Napoli 24 euro each return, then get another train to Pompeii costs 2 euro. When you get off at Napoli there are men at the station who will show you where to get the next train from but it will cost you 4 euro (worth it as this train platform was a little difficult to find especially when you are trying to be on time. There is also a Spar near the Termjni which sells excellent baguettes, drinks, biscuits for any day trips if you were on a budget. So, location wise it is excellent. If your only sleeping in the hotel then this hotel will do. I would have preferred a nicer bathroom but it was manageable. Rome is a beautiful city - Definitely worth a visit. Eating out can be expensive but trust me you can do Rome on a budget.

Avoid! Do not be deceived by their lovely photos on the website. It appears that some people have paid a lot more than others depending on where you booked it. If you are going to Rome for the experience and culture do not stay in this hotel. Hotel was very noisy and all conversations could be heard. The smell of cigarettes was unbearably strong every night. The breakfast is served next door and it consists of one pastry and one drink, however that was the best part of the hotel for them. Wifi was an additional daily charge. Each device has to be paid for separately too. Location is good and that is the best I can say!

This hotel was basically across the street from the train station and had free wifi. The bathroom was clean enough and I think we even had a little French Balcony. For what we paid our expectaions were not the Ritz. The cost was 44 Euro a night. Yes, 44 Euro! We booked via Venere.com. Staff was very nice. The beds were pretty uincomfortable, and I do remember going dow the hall and finding a sheet in a closet on my own, but other than, for the price we paid, I would stay there again if I wanted a suoer cheap place to sleep before catching the train out of town early the next morning.
"Location good, everything else rubbish!!!"

We had low expectations when coming to this hotel as we had read the reviews but nothing could prepare us for what we were put into. we arrived at the hotel and had to pay 'a little extra' for and extra bed in the room. This 'little extra' turned out to be another 120 euros on top of the 117 euros we had already paid for the room. this was supposedly to cover the breakfast which was a coffee and a croissant in a near by bar. This extra 120 euros shocked us and left us short on cash for the rest of the stay. we then got showed to our room which on first view looked ok. On further inspection we found that there was a hole in the door, good first impression, not. Then we come to the bathroom, TOILET DIDN'T FLUSH and the shower was rubbish. the final straw was the fact the room safe did not work, this was a factor we considered when we booked as we knew we didn't want to be carrying our money and passports around. we spoke to the receptionist and we were moved rooms, they moved us to Hotel blu which although was not much better as a hotel it, felt like it was a great improvement from our last room. I am very disappointed with this hotel and would at least expect a working toilet in a room we are paying over 30 euros per night. rant over... excellent location tho right next to the main train station in Rome.

We experienced overbooking at another hotel, and were "lucky" enough to be offered this hotel as compensation. We stayed the first night at hotel planet Rome, and were told that we had to place the luggage in the reception in the morning, because we should be moved to another room. What they forgot to tell us was that it was in fact another hotel in the same building. That was not a problem, the building consists of at least 10 "different" hotels. First room was small, and especially the bathroom was so small that you're able to take a shower while sitting on the toilet and brushing your teeth at the same time if that is what you want. If you wish to dry off with a towel inside the bathroom, that's just not possible. And, off course, the room and bathroom was dirty. Next night, to floors up, and in the end of the hallway another stair which was so narrow that your not able to bring a large suitcase unless your an experienced luggage handler. This room was of same size and style. Fortunately we were able to sit down on the bed an have a good laugh and enjoying our stay in the eternal city instead of complaining about the rooms. The best thing was that none of us were sick after the stay.....

Was a bit confused coming here as we had booked our stay at Hotel Blu. Upon arriving, the receptionist took us down the street and around the corner to this hotel, Hotel Planet. Anywhoo, the room was cheap enough, staff were nice enough, bathroom was a bit too small. The hotel elevator is too small and too slow. Breakfast was included at the hotel, but you had to go to a cafe across the street where you got a pastry and a coffee. Good location as right next to the train station. We stayed 4 nights, but would only recommend this hotel if you are staying a night or 2.
"Why so many bad reviews??"

Look, why are you people complaining so much about this place?? I see people writing that its not liveable etc. What this place is good for, as well as anywhere else in this area, is for somewhere to sleep and shower! The room wasn't massive, but realistically it was adequate for belongings and the people the room caters for. Bare in mind....TWO STAR accommodation: the room was clean in that the bed was clean and the toilet was clean. As to be EXPECTED, the shower tiles were a bit grotty at the top but hey, its two starts. The safe in the room is free which I've seen most places charge for this. One thing that I did find a bit unreasonable is there is a WiFi charge of 5 euros per 24hours. my friends staying in nearby hostels had FREE WiFi. People complaining about the lift?? It's a lift! You press the button, wait a few seconds and it arrives and takes you to your floor. What else do you expect?? You people are extremely fussy. Bottom line: VERY good location for Termini station, clean enough to sleep and shower in (saying that, it's not disgusting or anything), The staff are friendly, the breakfast is standard for one person. I'd stay here again :)
"you can get better for the price - don't be this cheap"
05/17/13 jmlucas33 Vicenza, Italy
My parents were visiting and we went here. First, you have to ride in the world's oldest, smallest elevator to the 5th floor? The reception area is very small. We went down the hall to our room that had really uncomfortable beds. Also, the bathroom is the size closet - you have to shower over the toliet..no joke. One night we didn't secure the door well and a person tried to come in - not sure if they were drunk, but that scared me to death and I couldn't sleep. For breakfast you go down the street to a bar where they and other hotels contract for a brioche (creasant with filling) juice or coffee- but not both. Very unfriendly people there also. The only good thing I can say about this place is the location. You can early see the train station and tons of restaurants close. Walk down the street to somewhere else!
"Strange experience at Planet Hotel"
01/09/13 Donal F Rome
I want to criticise the false impression given on the website concerning this hotel. At the same time I want to say that, as individuals, the staff were courteous and willing to help. First: the hotel is on two separate floors of a large block, accessesdby a rickety lift. The ambience is wholly decrepit There is no breakfast room - the staff gave us a chit with which to buy a breakfast accross the street in a small fast food bistro. There we could have a roll and a coffee to be consumed off a narrow shelf, maybe having a stool to sit on, if the bitsro was not too crowded with morning people rushing to work. The hotel staff were not expecting us to the first night was spent in two rooms each in other separate blocks down the street. They said that they had had no notice of our arrival from the Agency. The rooms were equipped in basic 'student accommodation' levels with a shower behind a curtain , that sort of thing. If course there was no lounge or public space whatsoever . We blamed ourselves for shopping so badly for a hotel in Rome, given that we had paid the same as if we had gobne to one of a guaranteed standard such as Holiday Inns etc. My friend and I are retired and had a programme of walking around Rome and were willing to put up with the Planet. But if we had been there on a family holiday we'd have had to write off the payment we had made and migrated to a proper hotel.
"I couldn't stay in the room (4 people) for more than one night"
My family of 4 stayed here for one night, the room was clean, but wasn't really liveable. It is handy that it's close to he train station but the building was a bit dodgy. Breakfast was only one crossoint and a hot drink. The room was very squishy and had hardly no room to put our big suitcases. The staff was very helpful and nice. If you want a quick place to stay and only for one night the place is okay. But as I said I could not stay at this hotel for over one night.. I don't know what the 2 people room is like, but I don't really recommend this hotel for families of 4.
