"Great Place to stay"
I stayed at the Green House Inn to attend the annual New Orleans comic convention. The staff was above and beyond the regular chain hotels. The location was great for walking to the French Quarter, Garden District, Warehouse District, Convention Center and the Mississippi. I Have no complaints with my stay and overall a great experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice & relaxing - Beats the big hotels"
Didnt really know what to expect given the location & general problems with hotels in Nola, but was pleasantly surprised. Its nice & quiet despite being on the edge of the garden district & close to the freeway; the hosts are wonderful & the place is clean & tidy. Secure offstreet parking is included, and its an easy-ish walk to Canal street, easier […] on the Bus which stops just around the corner - I didn't move my car all week. Great outside area to sit & relax in too - the pool was clean & looked quite inviting as the temperatures go up. Rooms are clean & everything works. Recommend if you want to enjoy the town & then relax away from the people & noise. Theres also a decent bar across the street for big Cocktails to start the evening. Would stay there again. "Ideally located with a welcome pool to cool off in"
A welcoming friendly guest house that is clean and well located. Light breakfasts are provided as well as a waffle maker. The pool area is a relaxing place, just be advised that some guests prefer to bare all in the "European" themed tropical garden. The Inn is a pleasant place to stay and is well located and serviced by good transport links. Frank […] and Jesse are great hosts and very helpful, as is Alex and his restaurant knowledge. "A Comfortable Inn"
The inn is located just outside the Warehouse District and convenience stores are at least half a mile away. It is fifteen minutes walk to the Convention Centre (Erato, Annuciation, Gaiennie) and safe. The staff (Frank & Alex) are very helpful (calling cabs, making restaurant reservations, etc.) and just for a general chat. The ambience is very homey […] with wide halls on the main floor, a very impressive dining room, comfortable furniture, a good selection of edibles and air conditioning. The garden is quite an impressive jungle with its own wild parrot, who keeps to himself, and a pool that is you could spend the whole day in. The rooms are very spacious with all new bathrooms and very comfortable beds. On the minus side - the main staircase could be cleaned more often as it presents a poor impression and the keyboard in the library needs cleaning so you can discern the letters. The Green House Inn is a great relax destination. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Come Here to Relax and Unwind"
Older house, but very clean and well maintained. The floors are creaky, but that's what makes the character of the place. The back yard is an oasis of greenery with the trickling of the water falls cascading into the pool. Salt water to bout. No stinky clorine! Lots of places to sit and relax in the sun or shade. The bed was very comfortable and the […] place was very quiet. Frank and Jesse were very friendly and informative. My husband is not a great traveller and he loved it and wants to go back! We are thinking pre and post cruise next time:) This was our first time staying at a B & B. Will do it again!

Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Supernice hotel with the best pool! Great inn-owner and personal, very friendly atmosphere and located on magazine street which is a cool street with second hand shops and cafés. the only problem is that it is a bit far from Frenchmen street, which is were you want to be for the music at night. takes maybe 20-30 minutes to walk. we def. recommend this […] hotel, the courtyard is heaven! "Great place to relax!!"
08/26/14 J T
We had a great and very relaxing weekend stay at The Green House. The house and grounds are remarkable, especially the pool/garden area, which is truly magnificent. The inn is very well run and it's obvious that a lot of thought has been put into even the smallest of details. That made it easy to relax and enjoy the inn and one of my favorite cities. There are several excellent Warehouse and Garden District Restaurants within easy walking distance as well as the WWII Museum. The dirt cheap St. Charles Avenue streetcar and relatively inexpensive cabs are great options for those areas beyond walking distance without having to take your car.
"New Orleans in the summer? are you crazy?"
08/24/14 luckydave51 Houston
Yes.As Loons. My wife and I love this place during the cooler months and the Mardi Gras season but in summer( we visited in August) you have to have a plan. And we do. It involves lying around the stunning pool during the day soaking up the sun, reading, floating or just enjoying being lazy. Then at dusk we head out for a great meal, great music or whatever fun is going on.In Nola there is always something going on.And The Green House seems to always be right in the middle of it or at least very close. This time it was White Linen Nights just a few short blocks away on Julia St. Lots of art galleries to visit, showcasing some amazing artists.Lots of food booths, plenty of drink booths and even live music on three separate stages. There were thousands of people dressed in white and admission was absolutely free.We have been coming to the Green House and New Orleans for years and both keep getting better.Jesse and Frank see to it.They are extraordinary hosts. The Green House is approaching its 20th year and its a delight any time of the year..even summer.
"Best Kept Secrect in New Orleans"
07/29/14 marvincheryl West Monroe, Louisiana
This bed and breakfast has been serving the New Orleans area for over 20 years now. We have been staying there on a regular basis since 2008. As a matter of fact we just celebrated our 40th reservation and stay this weekend. We have found Jesse (the proprietor) and Frank (office manager) to be very cordial and helpful on anything we have ask. We have fallen in love with New Orleans and the Green House Inn is one of the big reasons for our love of the "city that care forgot." This is not one of the best kept secrets of NOLA, it is the best kept secret. So why am I writing this review. We love to share our secrets.
"SPECTACULAR POOL AREA! Cool hosts! Location...hmmmm."
06/29/14 Redbirds1 Rockford, Illinois
We sincerely enjoyed the Green House Inn. Frank was the host we talked to the most, and he was genuinely friendly and cool to talk to. He also shared some great suggestions about dining and activities. The pool area is like a super-cool jungle oasis. It's got a hot tub, fountains, plenty of seating...they've even got Abita beer for sale in the pop machine! It's surrounded by lush bamboo, palm trees and who-knows-what else. Love it! The policy at the pool is "clothing optional," which was a novel experience for us. I think this place lends itself to free spirited people. We loved that there are no children allowed at this property. We were less fond of the attractive, but noisy macaw/parrot living in the trees thereabouts. We spent a lot of time here and we loved it, but you shouldn't plan on doing a lot of sunbathing. The lush greenery surrounding the pool area blocks a lot of the rays. The house is very cool and charming both inside and out. Our room (the hibiscus) was nothing super special, but it had plenty of space, a big comfy bed, a refrigerator and a tub/shower combo (the only room with a tub here.) What else could you really need? Well, when you're in New Orleans one of the nice features is how walkable everything is. The French Quarter is great for strolling as is the Magazine Street area/ Garden District. The problem is that the two areas aren't close enough together for frequent walking back and forth. It can be done; we did it a lot. However, this property is located smack in the middle of both neighborhoods without being super convenient to either one. We found ourselves walking at least one mile up Magazine to get to the interesting stuff and about the same distance (including one stretch under a highway where some homeless gentlemen have set up camp) to reach the nearest edge of the French Quarter. It's substantially further if you'd like to explore the far end of this area. In the summer, it's hot and muggy in NOLA and it rains frequently too. We enjoy walking, but this got to be a little taxing compared to our previous stays directly in the French Quarter. The Green House Inn is a unique and friendly place to stay. The pool area is a GREAT place to relax. There's no denying that. Also we were big fans of how our hosts made us feel very welcome guests, but didn't "hover" over us. Ya know? On the other hand, the location was less than convenient to the places we most wanted to be, such as Frenchman Street. This is a wonderful place to visit, but bring comfortable walking shoes or be prepared to drive!
"Great Time and Beautiful Garden"
06/18/14 Debra N Crown Point, Indiana
What a GREAT time we had! The inn was situated well for us as numerous restaurants were within walking distance and the trolley was 3 blocks away. Our room had a warm feeling with all modern amenities and the pool was something out of a tropical jungle with an adjacent hot tub. Very picturesque and relaxing after walking the French Quarter with a few drinks. The greatest treasure was Jessie and Frank who run the Green House. They are very knowledgeable of their community and very personable and accommodating and we enjoyed our conversations with them. We look forward to our next stay at the Green House and HIGHLY recommend it.

superb stay at this totally one of a kind b&b, rooms were great bright clean and fresh. As soon as we arrived we got a great welcome from Frank as we parked the car and when we checked in he couldn"t have been more welcoming he explained about the house itself gave us a bit of history about the place, also tips for getting around and about nawleens first class advice.Jesse was also very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to talk away and give you advice, the pool area was fantastic like a tropical oasis.we stayed in the Heliconia room we had our own private access to the pool area.within walking distance to all New Orleans attractions we walked up magazine st to canal st every day and back no problem you could get a bus or taxi but its not far and it walks off all the food and drink.

What a wonderful 4 day weekend my husband and I shared with family from Texas. Jesse is such an accommodating innkeeper and Frank was so welcoming. They both are so knowledgeable about the area. Our room was very comfortable. The pool area like a private oasis. It is easy to get to the French Quarter from there. My only suggestion would be to have some better breakfast offerings. Perhaps some seasonal fruits and berries, fresh juices and pastries, rather than packaged. Otherwise, great!
"Lovely Garden and Pool, Great Inn"
06/11/14 marylaca chicago
We loved this cozy Inn and would return in a heartbeat! The pool and gardens are just lovely and so relaxing. We enjoyed our time in the jacuzzi and pool with waterfalls and the mature and colorful gardens were so beautiful! We stayed in the "anthium" room on the first floor right off the pool and loved having our own access to the garden and pool. The breakfast was great including the homemade waffle as you can make your own waffles. There were plenty of goodies and healthy choices on their breakfast bar. The coffee was good and lots of snacks on the piano. Jesse and Frank were great hosts! Very nice guys! The house is really cool and the location is great. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely return.
