"Fine And Hunky Dory"
A warm welcome with very helpful staff. Room compact but very clean and provided everything we needed. The restaurant was closed on the night we were there but the menu looked decent enough. Would have no hesitation in recommending to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Always use this hotel when visiting War Graves in the Somme area. A very good location to Amiens. Lovely staff very friendly and aways attentive. Nice clean rooms and good facilities throughout. Highly recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good food Breakfast expensive and avoided. Dreadful WIfi with awful adverts. Never managed to send an email.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent hotel with free Wi-Fi. Don't stay in the heat of the summer as no air con. Rooms - all that you want, but a little dated. Good bar with plenty of seating. Restaurant good, but starters microwaved - this didn't really detract from them. Main courses good. Breakfast very good. Staff extremely pleasant and very accommodating - flask of coffee […] provided for our daily trips to the graves. An absolutely wonderful base for "The Somme". Use Major and Mrs Holt's book for your trips. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a one night stopover. We received a warm welcome and were given all the information we needed. The rooms were very comfortable and the hotel showed signs of recent refurbishment. The lounge and bar were very comfortable and service was good. Dinner was very good though the staff were stretched in terms of numbers. Breakfast was also very good. […] It is not walking distance of the town centre. I would certainly use it again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very pleasant three night stay"
Found it to be a excellent Hotel for our short stay to visit local WW1, Memorials, Museums and other local interests. All the staff were very helpful and courteous many spoke English which was helpful as our French is limited.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpiced for a reasonably comfortable room."
Stayed here in June 2013. Ok if you are just passing through. Staff were helpful and efficient. Hotel is clean and tidy. Room was small but clean. Large car park. Didn't eat at the restaurant - town is a pleasant 1km stroll where there are a few places to eat. Breakfast was expensive at 12 Euros a head. Overall I felt the hotel was overpriced (£80 per […] night) for what was on offer and I wouldn't stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A lovely find, perfect base for WW1 history"
A really pleasant surprise. The hotel is in a great location, out of town but in easy walking distance (approx 0.5 miles) of the centre. We just had the basic room which was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for our two night stay. On the first night we ate in restaurant. We had two very good main courses and fortunately chose to share […] a starter (a proscuitto salad) which was massive and then a cheese board which was equally large. Before dinner we had a couple of drinks, as the sun was out we took these outside. We were shortly followed by the ever attentive staff who brought us out a small table and some olives and tapanade. Would definately recommend this hotel, in fact we are going back later this year Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Hotel in Albert."
Excellent Hotel just on the outer edge of Albert.Always use this Hotel for visits to WW1 sites and tours of Amien and Arras. Would use this facility again with confidence and with pleasure.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for short stay"
Room was OK , clean and comfortable, suitable for short stay. Had tea and coffee making facilities which was great. Not busy at all during our stay and restaurant was closed even though it was a Friday night. About a 15 minute walk to town, no places to eat close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"weird outside but a pleasant place to stay"
We stayed here on the way back from the alps. Albert is a good place to stop as it is only 2 hours from calais. The hotel was reasonably well signposted in Albert although a map would have helped. It is located on the outskirts of the town opposite some houses and next to some industrial buildings so not picturesque. There is a big car park but it […] is not secured. The outside of the hotel is weird. It looks like a low rise castle built by an incompetent Disney employee. Dont let that put you off! Inside it is comfortable and pleasant. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated although towels were a bit mean. Dull view of a big flat roof with trees beyond. Good tea making equipment in room. Nice enough bar and restsurant. Limited menu when we visited but food was well cooked and enjoyable. Breakfast at euro12 pp was expensive but worth it - the best continental breakfast i have ever had with lovely breads brioches cakes etc. Got a good discount (25%) on the rack rate booking through hotels com come although I had to pay when booking. "Excellent Hotel in Picardie"
Have used this hotel several times and always leave pleased with our visit. Would recommend the Best Western Royal Picardie for the position in the Town and easy access to Amiens and Arras. Would visit again without any doubts.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for all."
Have used this hotel before. Always impressed by the standards which are very high. Friendly staff make the stay enjoyable and as we were visiting a family war grave the town of Albert is central to the Somme area. The breakfast provided is very good with a large selection of excellent quality food available without restriction. We will visit again […] and recommend this hotel highly. Excellent hotel, the staff are very very friendly & did everything to make the stay that much better. Nice walk into town (about 15mins).Rooms were very clean and well presented.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bit tired and dated."
The staff were great and the rooms comfortable and very clean, but the hotel is in need of a major refurb and the restaurant area is not appealing due to its large size and lack of atmosphere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place, Great people."
The room was small but very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately our room did not have a mini-fridge but we managed without one for three nights. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Deborah the new owner. She was an absolute sweetheart and couldn't do enough to help. We didn't eat in the restaurant only because we are not into the french cuisine much. […] The location was great as it served as a great base to visit many of the battlefields in the area including a day trip to Belgium. The staff were great, the hotel was very quiet and I would stay again if I ever travel there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is nice enough, but it's about a kilometre away from the centre of Albert. It's barely in Albert at all (it's the last building: after that it's fields).Genuine Expedia guest review
"OK for visiting Somme battlefields"
Paid for a superior room which appeared to be fairly basic, though adequate. We arrived on a Sunday and hotel restaurant does not open on Sunday evenings. Hotel is right on the edge of Albert town making walking into the Centre a bit of a slog! Albert has very few restaurants. "The Pub on the Corner" is basic but friendly and appeared the only venue […] open on a Sunday evening! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the general experience was about average, the evening meal was well prepared and value for money, the breakfast on the other hand was excessively overpriced ( at 12 euros per person) for what was on offer including the boiling of your own egg. Generally speaking the hotel could use a facelift. The staff were extremely efficient, friendly and tried hard […] to make you feel at home. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Felt really sorry for the single person trying to do everything - answer the phone, do reception, serve in the bar and serve in the restaurant - he did his best. They need more staff. Thought the food was overpriced for the quality but the hotel is a bit of a walk from anywhere else so I guess they have a captive audience.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Group Visit to the battlefields of the Somme"
11/23/14 AndrewL891 London, United Kingdom
I recently helped arrange a group trip to the battlefields of the Somme, and had no hesitation in selecting the Royal Picardie Hotel in Albert as our base. It was my third visit to the hotel, and once again it proved an ideal hotel for such a visit. Our group of 40 took over the entire hotel for one night, and the staff prepared a very tasty dinner of our choice, and were generally very attentive to our needs. It all made for a most enjoyable evening, and the breakfast the following morning set us up for a successful day following in the footsteps of South African soldiers of the Great War. Albert is particularly conveniently located for a visit to the South African National Memorial at Delville Wood, just outside the village of Longueval. The hotel has a large car park, which was a very big plus for our group. I'd highly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting the Somme.
"pretty good overall"
11/11/14 colinpNorwich Norwich
myself and three mates stayed here for 2 nights while visiting war graves in the region. Although the surrounding area is somewhat industrial, the hotel itself is very welcoming. the main problem is that there are too few rooms to warrant support services, so we were only able to eat on one night. That said, the food was very good quality, with a range of steaks, good wine list and was pretty good value. The staff were willing to recommend Corners Bar which is a trek into the village, but they failed to inform us that the place closes between 5 and 7 pm! The rooms are smallish but very comfortable and the toilet is separate from the bathroom which is useful. Considering the high number of English guests this hotel attracts, there is no English speaking channel on the tv, not even Sky News. Breakfast was priced extra, adequate French affair, croissants, pastries etc and good coffee. Staff are charming, and seem to be few in number, they dash between working reception, the restaurant when it is open, and the bar. All in all, this was value for money, but the annoyance of the closed restaurant and inadequate tv coverage is worthy of mention. There is a large free carpark.

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid September, whilst touring the WW1 Battlefields. Accommodation was busy, so had one room facing the road which was fine, next was facing the back, more quiet but a little smaller. 3rd stay here in Albert in 5 years, so is a favourite Hotel of ours as it is clean, pretty quiet (especially rooms at the back of the Hotel) and the restaurant is above average. Rooms are a little small when travelling with two large suitcases, but we coped. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Reception staff excellent - friendly and helpful, especially Deborah ... has she sold her house yet?? The facilities are excellent. Breakfast was far and away the best we experienced in France or UK. Fresh pancakes and maple syrup were my favourite. The bar area for a pre dinner drink is inviting, and dinner in the restaurant also very acceptable. Car parking was very good, but watch out for the fixed speed camera about 5kms towards Amiens. Very convenient hotel to Amiens and surrounding areas. Easy drive from Paris airport.
"Ideal for Battlefield tour base. Lovely staff"
11/09/14 Robert H Bishops Stortford, United Kingdom
Unusual looking and not attractive from the outside, a friendly welcome awaited us after an easy 90 min drive down from the Tunnel. Very helpful and chatty girl on reception whizzed us through booking and we found our rooms ready and waiting. Quiet, comfortable clean and well-presented with good bathroom facilities and good shower. Separate wc in ours which could be handy! Had dinner there all 3 night as really not many other options in Albert. A high standard of cuisine, with a slightly varied menu each night at £25ish pp inc drinks for 3 courses. Service a little slow as there only seemed to be a couple of staff on, but it was November. We found breakfast to be of a good standard, with some interesting little extras such as creme brulee or strawberry smoothie. Boil your own egg with an individual timer was a nice touch. Lovely pastries as well. Good selection of quality herb teas, fruit etc. We would return.

The hotel was very empty during the 2 nights we spent there , so much so that there were no dining facilities of any sort apart from breakfast. Rooms are small but clean and bed was comfortable with individual reading lights. Breakfast buffet unexciting . Coffee from the machine not very nice and not enough fresh fruit on offer. The hotel is some distance from the centre of Albert and choices of restaurants in Albert very limited. As a central point for doing the Somme battlefields it is ideal.
"Well looked after hotel"
10/27/14 TravellingSolo_11 Birmingham
Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting the battlefield areas with friends. Unusual hotel from the outside. Shame it was too far to walk into Albert for a meal. But inside the hotel was lovely, well kept, clean, and bright. Very helpful on reception. Nice room. Hotel was fairly quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities were well replenished every day, with a nice macaroon as an extra. Toiletries a bit disappointing. Take your own shampoo. Bed fairly comfortable. Had one breakfast here, it was buffet style, continental for €12 per person. We did have trouble getting into the hotel one day, as the front door was locked, and although we pressed the doorbell, we ended up knocking the window to another guest to let us in! Would recommend this hotel, as it it so nice inside.

We stopped here (a party of 9) on our tour of the Somme. On booking we were helped to get the best range of rooms for our party. We found the staff most helpful and informative .The rooms were modern and comfortable with facilities. Breakfast was a buffet style with a great choice of pastries, bread and fruit with as much as we wanted to set us up for busy days . Cannot comment on other meals as we ate out .Would recommend to anyone touring this area.

Our family party of four senior guests returned home to London last night having spent three nights at the Hotel Royal Picardie. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to many of the First World War Memorials and Cemetries that we planed to visit during our brief stay. The owner, Deborah and her family could not have been more attentive or helpful and were able to provide detailed maps and booklets to assist us in our searches. Our two rooms overlooked the main road. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there was very little noise from passing traffic. The housekeeping team did a splendid job each morning and were finished by the time we returned to our rooms after breakfast. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of fruits, cold meats, cereals, and pastries available in addition to pancakes & poached eggs friut juices, tea & coffee. Our evening meals were taken in the hotel and each evening they were served in a reasonable time, well presented and cooked to our individual tastes which ranged from well done to blue..! The restaurant & bar staff were efficient and friendly even though our grasp of the French language was severely lacking, throughout our stay the atmosphere was most friendly and welcoming. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to vist the Lochnagar Crater, Thiepval, Deville Wood, Longueval or the Albert Museum.

We have enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Great rooms, comfortable beds. Excellent evening meal, although expensive the food was delicious and worth it as a treat. Excellent hotel position for visiting the Somme war memorial cemeteries.
"Last night in France"
10/10/14 TopkapiTokyo Tokyo
We stayed here after a long drive from the south of France. The receptionist was polite and welcoming. The rooms were of a good size and very clean. Nice decor. The food was average. They seemed to be very short staffed in the dining room at dinner and people were waiting a long time for their food. The staff were polite even under such pressure. The hotel is on the outskirts of Albert but was very comfortable and I would recommend it. A very convenient place to stay to tour the battlefields.
