clean good service, great b/fast
"You get what you pay for and more here!"Reviewed by Mark W of "Portsmouth, England" on Aug 24, 2011
My wife and I along with our two young children stayed at this hotel recently for 5 nights. We booked and came with an open mind and if you have this approach, you really will have a good stay. We got a fantastic rate and as such, bearing that in mind the hotel really is top notch for the price! The location was perfect for us. It’s both apart of Atlantic City, being 5 minutes drive away down Black Horse Pike/ route 40 which is right outside the hotel and a part from Atlantic City, being on the outskirts and located in Pleasantville. The hotel is conveniently located for us as we had our own transport and did not want to be restricted to Atlantic City. We wanted to do things in the surrounding area like Cape May etc so the location was perfect. We considered staying in one of the hotel city resorts but the rates were well out of budget costing more in one night than in some cases then what we paid for 5 days here. You also have to pay parking charges on top. At the Travelodge there was plenty of parking and it was free! Check-in was fast and effortless. The lobby was clean and typical for this kind of hotel. All the front of house staff were polite, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the area and welcoming at all times. Some of the staff had the patience of saints and really went out their way to make people happy. I can remember during our stay one staff member was getting grief from a guest who paid the lowest rate possible but was not happy with her room and was demanding extras and better views. The staff member was politely trying to explain that they were paying the cheapest rate and it was kind of hard for her to favour that guest over others who were going to be paying more. I do believe they upgraded her view in the end to keep her happy but it does annoy us sometimes when people should know exactly what they have booked but then moan like hell and demand 6 stars when they arrive. Ask in advance if having a better view from your room is a major factor

"Good Stuff"
Always a good spot, going to get even better because you can stay here then walk 25ft to the Revel.
"Showboat visit"
Very good time,nice place!
"okay and very reasonably priced"
electrical outlet in the bathroom didn't work. Towel bar would not stay on the wall. Left a note that room needed maintenance attention. Other than that, location and price are wonderful

THIS HOTEL IS SO OLD BUT THE CASINO IS NICE AND THE SERVICE IS GOOD. THE ROOM'S FURNITURE WAS FALLING APART, THE BED SAGGED, AND I WOULD NOT GO BACK ON A BET.
Very happy with the hotel. This was our third business trip to AC and our third stay at the Showboat. Our rooms have always been clean and nice.
"Showboat"
Room was clean, quiet, a little outdated.

"great place"
It was a nice hotel to stay at the price was real cheap
All very good, except that the one barmaid at the main floor casino bar was a bit "out of it", and provided at best, indifferent service. This is a shame, because the other bartender and bar-backs were very friendly.

It was enjoyable

you do not have enough staff on duty for checking in (1 person) nor enough staff for getting the rewards card ( maybe 3 people) especially when you know in advance that bus loads of people are coming in. I myself being a smoker felt that the smoking area was a bit small and finding an ashtray in those areas was scarce.

"Stay somewhere else."
The lady was very impolite when we checked in, we had to wait for our room to be ready, even though we prepaid. The water pressure was bad and the bed uncomfortable.

"SHOWBOAT AC"
COMFORTABLE BEDS FRIENDLY PEOPLE GREAT FOR DOG LOVERS
"Weekend at the Showboat"
This boardwalk casino is actually a lot nicer then some of its neighbors. The entire time my wife and I were in AC, we never left its doors. "Surrounding neighborhood" is a dump, but it is everywhere in AC, so just keep that in perspective. Dollar for dollar, I would say this is the best place to stay in the city, and they gambling is fun too.

"Nice stay"
This hotel is nice and very reasonably priced. The lobby and casino area is beautiful however i have one complaint...this hotel should invest more money in the beds. Not very comfortable ior appealing
"ATLANTIC CITY'S SHOWBOAT: AN AGING GREY LADY"
Atlantic City’s Showboat hotel and Casino is an aging Grey Lady. It still is bringing people in to both lay down their heads and part with their money, and she can still compete with her younger competitors on either side, but her age is starting to show in the maintenance that is not being done to keep her at the level of those competitors. On the […] other hand, her price range is commensurate with her service, and she provides the family on a budget with quality service at reasonable rates. Whatever you do, do NOT drink the Tap Water, and make sure your Credit/Debit Card is full to the brim when it comes to meal times. There is scant chance to find food venues outside of the hotels that keep the hotel food prices in check, and it isn’t possible to have food delivered from outside the hotel. Read more

great hotel bad cleanliness services
"Great Service, could use an update"
The hotel staff at check-in were very nice and it only took a total of 3 minutes to check-in and they also told us that our parking( self parking $5/ day, valet parking $10/day) is validated and we paid nothing at all. We were supposed to stay 2 days but due to a family emergency we had to leave early. We did eat at the Mansion Cafe in the hotel, great […] food & great prices for the amount of food you get. But horrible HORRIBLE service! The wait staff is older which is fine, but completely rude and don't seem like they want to be there. Not even a smile was on the face! The only nice thing about the service,we had ordered soda for our drinks which was beyond flat, the waiter ordered the drink server to get us something else to drink, lemonade was delightful, and took the soda off our bill. But I had asked for water not lemonade, which is what my boyfriend ordered. Otherwise, the hotel room was supposed to be non-smoking, but when we arrived the room smalt like smoke & not the cigarette kind, and the carpet was in need of repair, and the TV was a tube TV and didn't really work to well. "Showboat Hotel and Casino Atlantic City NJ"
Room was clean, the bed was confortable and the price was very affordable for a mid week one night stay prior to catching a very early flight from Atlantic City Airport to Myrtle Beach for a long golf weekend. Next year I may come down a day early and stay at the Showboat again.
