"DONT DO IT!"
Gonna start by saying only paid 29.00 to stay here so you get what you pay for! If i was paying full price would have walked out!! First had a room on the 5th floor but the elevator only went to the 4th! the air filters in the room were caked with something youall need to check your rooms! And the guy checking me in sneezed all over his arm and left […] a big spray over his suit! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Never Stay Here Again!"
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I felt robbed and taken advantage of from the moment I tried to check in. I have stayed at this hotel before and for the weekend event I selected this hotel because it was closest to the venue. The valets tried to charge fourth dollars per day to park and told me to park in self park which had no […] available space, this is crazy considering i paid 5-10 times the normal price per night for the hotel. I had a friend at the event that I said could put their jackets in my room but they were denied access to the elevator unless they wanted to pay fifty dollars for a wrist band. I am forty years old with a high net worth as associated with people of the same caliber and should not have been treated like I was throwing a kegger in my room. The staff was extremely rude and they should be thanking Life is Beautiful for allowing them to jack up their prices for one weekend out of the year but I will never recommend this hotel to anyone I know again. We all went to the Golden Nugget to gamble that weekend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Stayed during LIB music festival"
It was a crazy busy weekend with the LIB music festival right next door. Couldn't ask for a better location. The whole situation that they had with colored wristbands that coordinated with your room location was lame. Overall I enjoyed my stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not the best experience"
The people at the front desk were pretty rude. We had to lug our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs because there was no elevator. My 28 year old nephew got harrassed by a security guard because the guard thought he was underage. Even after my nephew produced his ID, the guard said the photo didn't look like him (it totally does) and asked him series […] of questions. There was a valet guy and a little security guard that stood at the bottom of the stairs who were really nice. That said, I would stay there again if I ever went back to the Life is Beautiful music festival (which was FANTASTIC)because the hotel is right in the middle of the festival. "cheap. basic. okay."
We stayed at El Cortez during Life is Beautiful. The Hotel is old. it was worth it to have free parking, and the entrance to LIB was about 10 feet away. That made it practical. We bought our tickets before the lineup was announced, and booked our room the same day. We were VERY disappointed that our room was on the 2nd floor, NO ELEVATOR. you don't want […] to carry bags up these stairs. There was ZERO mention of no elevator on the web OR during check in! We booked SO LONG ago, that we should have at least gotten a room in the tower. No mention of looking for stairs. We wandered around about 10 minutes, with our stuff, looking for the elevator. It was a pain to get all of our stuff up to our room. Dragging it through the casino, up and down stairs from the garage to the lobby then upstairs. No luggage carts, no bell boy in sight. And we had to wait in line behind at least 30 people at check in. It took an hour and we missed part of the festival because of their very slow computers and process. a cocktail server gave free drinks while we waited. Our room was small. No frills. Bad TV and no channels. In the hallway, you could hear every thing in every room. If that doesn't bother you.. We had fun playing video roulette and getting drinks. El Cortez is not as customer oriented as the more upscale hotels on the strip. We would stay again for LIB, but not for fun or comfort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Could have been better"
We rented this room due to the location for the Life is Beautiful event. We were a vendor and wanted a place were our staff could take a break during the 14 hour days. To check in and find out that only two people would be allowed in the room and that a $25 charge would apply for each additional person even though they were not staying there. Also to […] find out that even through you were a guest of the hotel they would be charging $40.00 for valet. The initial room was completely disgusting. It smelled terrible, the tub stopper was broken and pulled out but sitting in the tub. There were several strands of long black hair on the shower walls, the bathroom floors were not clean. We then found miscellaneous items in the drawers. They did move us to a different room the second night which was much better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"El Cortez - Las Vegas"
Good. Did not like the availability of the Elevator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Even though we'd booked (and paid) for our room well in advance, when we got there, we were told the hotel was sold out and overbooked and our room in the tower was no longer available. Instead, we were moved to a 'vintage' room over the garage - definitely a step down. It was like staying in a 'lower-end-of-the-scale' Motel 6: no view, difficult to […] access, not maintained as well, no amenities. We were given a $25 credit at the bar/cafe to make up for it, but it involved either paying up front and being reimbursed somehow, or charging it to our room and then having the charges removed when we checked out. It was too confusing and we were only there for the night and did not end up using it. Loved the area and the rest of the hotel, but did not care for the bait-and-switch tactic, so probably will stay elsewhere next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tower rooms. Good value!"
Stayed a few nights for business and wasn't expecting much was was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice stay. The Tower rooms are apparently in better shape than the Vintage or Pavillion rooms, and that is where I stayed. (However next time I'll check El Cortez' Cabana Suites across the street on Ogden where everything is new, hip and cool. They're all […] designed suites and I saw a few rooms when I went to the gym over there). Anyway, my Tower room was on the 12th floor. It was old but at least clean and had all the essentials. The king bed was comfortable, nothing amazing. Good TV and mini fridge, small couch and nice view of the Stratosphere and the strip and below was Fremont and 6th St. Bathroom worked, nothing fancy, no frills, but they did supply a hairdryer! There's a safe in the room if needed too. The only things I didn't like too much were: 1) The internet wasn't extremely reliable. I didn't always get service on phone and computer in room. When it worked, it worked well. And 2) I had a non-smoking room buuuuut, if you're sensitive to smoke, as I am, you can still smell it. Not intense but a light smell of smoke lingers at times. My guess is the smoke from Casino rises up as it's an old hotel and ventilation isn't the greatest. Either that or people on my floor were smoking when they shouldn't have been. I'm very sensitive to it, but still I could live with it. Lastly, the guys at valet and front desk were very helpful and accommodating. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Stay a Night in a Historic Hotel"
A few years ago you would not have caught me East of Las Vegas Blvd. The neighborhood was sketchy at best during the day, and downright uncomfortable at night. Since then, Fremont East has been resurrected with lots of hip hangouts and revitalized shops. I decided to give the ancient El Cortez a shot for 1 night. I booked a tower room and got an oversized […] room with a separate sitting area. The AC was excellent, and the room was very clean and had a nice flat screen. This was Bugsy Siegel's hotel very briefly and it did have a sense of history and importance. I found the single deck blackjack very nice towards my wallet, but overall the casino was very smoky. Also unexpected was one of the two elevators for the tower was broken. I think I will give the historic El Cortez another visit (over several days) next year, as it is a relative bargain with good gambling odds. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"can't wait to go back."
We loved our stay at El Cortez staff was friendly and very helpful. The food at the restaurant is very good my girlfriend loves your breakfast and it's very affordable. The only thing we weren't too happy about that our cover smelled like cigarettes even though we were in a smoke free room. Other than that can't wait to go back to downtown Nevada and […] stay at El Cortez again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent and handy best parking in Vegas, remodel"
Excellent in and out parking. Everything sooo convenient. Friendly staff, slow start with internet problems but manager got everything in order. Casino is one of the best pay-outs in Vegas. But the key to this hotel is best price, newly remodeled, handy parking...we were never more than 50 steps to an elevator in 54 days there. Reason enough to stay […] there always. This hotel was a good value for the price I paid. I didn't realize that I would be staying in a vintage room, and therefore I couldn't get a room with a view. Besides that it was very comfortable and clean. It was a good stay for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noisy tower rooms"
The dance clubs located West of the hotel crank up the music around 8 pm and they don't stop for hours. The bass from the music pounds in your head while you try to relax. The front desk said they are unable to do anything about the noise. They stated that they have received numerous complaints about the music in the past.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not So Good"
I will never stay in a vintage room again. It was awful. Not only did we have to climb two flights of stairs but we had to walk down two long hallways to get to our room.
