"Vintage Vegas - The best!"
First time here, very vintage Vegas, Clean and large rooms, was on 14th floor with a stunning view of the strip. Food in 1941 was tasty. Will definitely stay here again for Spring Break!

"No escape from the second hand smoke!!!"
Here's the deal. The El Cortez would have been fantastic, except for this one little thing: the second hand smoke. There is no escape. The casino floor allows smoking, and you must enter through the casino. Then there is a stairway (no elevator or physical separation) up to the hallway with the rooms. Even in my nonsmoking room, the bathroom fan pulled the smoky odor in from the hallway. It was so bad that even clean unworn clothes left out in the room picked up the scent and had to be washed when I got home. Coming from a state where indoor public smoking has been banned for years, I didn't realized I had to consider this when booking in Vegas. This is a shame too because the El Cortez was otherwise a good experience. The building is a little old, but the value is fair and the people were great. The neighborhood is cool too, with good places to eat (Carson Kitchen, Eat), the Mob Museum, as well as Fremont Street itself. I'd much rather be in this area than the strip. Unfortunately, the second hand smoke situation alone is reason enough to not go back to the Cortez.

My stay was fair. i was there on business,, the internet kept failing, when I told the front desk she said she would send someone .. nobody came.. on two occasions. Also. Room attendants were lovely but they should not be knocking on doors so early in the morning when people are on vacation.you can hear them knocking on the neighbors doors as well, Mine came before 9 am each day.. then came two other times before 11am. The hotel not having a place for guests to do laundry also is an inconvenience.. no offer for outside service to do it either, that would be nice as especially for professionals. I would rate this hotel as fair. The restaurant staff, a d parlor staff were excellent.

"Nice place - full of history"
The stay was pleasant - the room was large and nicely furnished. The staff were really nice. My thing is that extra deposit that they assess when you check in. I've never seen that on the web site - hotels.com says "the hotel will charge you xxx.xx when you check in. But the deposit is never mentioned.

Second visit and we will be back again! . . . the Cabana Suites are the BEST . . . love the short walk from the parking garage, the security guard on duty, and the friendly staff in the lobby with different candy available everyday . . . all so very convenient!

"Comfortable stay in downtown."
We stayed in the non smoking Cabana suites.Really comfortable mattress.Quiet.Staff in Cabana friendly.Only negatives they charge $5 for using coffee even though it was listed as being part of the resort fee. The El Cortez coffee shop is really overpriced. $25 for pancakes + coffee with no refills. Better to try one of the local coffee shops. Just a block away from the Container park and the hip E.Fremont downtown area.

"Boutique hotel great value"
We stayed at the Cabana Suites which are in a separate new building across the street. Unique lobby, fitness center, great staff, comfortable rooms with beautiful tile bathrooms. Close walk to everything downtown has to offer and parking across the street. A great value with low resort fees but all the room amenities.

"Nice and economical"
The room at El Cortez was not only economical but it was nice and modern as well with a quality flat screen TV and nice cool AC. The casino itself is also nice and offers a smaller atmosphere than some other properties in Vegas. Its close proximity to Fremont Street Experience is also a plus. Recommended.

Beautiful colors & decor inside the canbana suite. It was located across the street which was kinda weird. The room we had faced the street directly & could hear the Fremont experience all night... Lastly the bed was extra firm & not very comfortable but overall a great hotel & fun experience...

"Get ready to be ripped off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Casino stingy on drinks !! Playing keno must buy $20.00 worth of tickets at one time to get one drink. Black cocktail waitress gave black customer drinks without tickets- three in one hour observed. Café too expensive for quality of hotel. $20.00 for coffee, bacon and Eggs is too much. No pastries on menu. We will not be back ________

"Party like its 1941"
This hotel had its peak in 1941 as their one and only restaurant is so named. The furniture and bathroom decor were over the top in 1941 they are now just worn out and EXTREMELY dated. The smoke filled casino fills every floor with the smoke smell. I will not be returning.

"Comfy, stylish stay"
We enjoyed our stay at El Cortez. Our room and building we were in were super stylish, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Also liked that the casino didn't reek of cigarette smoke. Would have preferred if the building we were in was attached to the main hotel instead of across the street behind it though. But overall, it was a good experience.

I will never stay there again five minutes of being in the room i find a dirty bra (that was not mine) right next to the bed. "Thrifty Throwback"
The room was clean, but rather worn (the blackout curtains were thin enough to let patchy light through in places) and definitely a bit dated (1950s pink porcelain in the bathroom). Only two blocks from the touristy part of Fremont Street, the location is good for those who are into that (and who don’t mind a 20 minute drive to the action on the Strip). If you’re sensitive to noise, though, ask for a room on the quiet side of the building--the rooms overlooking Fremont have a great view but the music and crowd noise remain at high volume until the wee hours of the morning. The staff was friendly and attentive enough, but not exceptional. The free wifi was nice, but a little inconsistent. Parking is scarce enough that we sometimes had to drive through the garage for a few minutes before we found a space. If you want an inexpensive night in Vegas, and especially if you’re fond of Rat-Pack-Era styling and don’t care about the glitz and glam of modern Vegas, you could do worse than the El Cortez.

"great location, but will probably will not return"
The location of the hotel is awesome. 1 block away from the Fremont Experience and a ton of restaurants. Since we were close to the action, music can be heard most of the day and night in the room, which was okay. My major complaint is that the hotel has a recording of some guy talking that is blaring outside all day and night. I will probably choose another hotel next time I'm on town.

This was our second time staying here. The first was for prb and it was a pain. I had my boyfriend check into a room early, the guy taking car of the parking garage would not let him park even though we had reservation. This resulted in him getting a parking ticket for parking to the side for a minute.....

"Get what you pay for"
We've stayed at the El Cortez several times before without any issue. However this time I was a bit unhappy with the check in process. When we arrived to check in the valet told us we couldn't park without a room key. When we asked where we should park to check in he reluctantly allowed us to valet after we tipped $5. At the front desk we were checked into a regular tower room even though we had booked and paid for a Cabana Suite. We were told those rooms were overbooked and told the tower rooms were the same price and better rooms. Having stayed several times there previously, I disagreed. After much talking and going back and forth with "a supervisor" a Cabana room was found to be available for us.

Stayed at this hotel for business for 5 days, this hotel is an older style hotel as advertised. It was fairly comfortable and relaxing. The only issue I had was the air conditioning system/heating system, when switching between the 2 it would would make a big banging sound. "Loved this hotel!"
We intended to stay on the strip but due to the Marathon we ended up staying here and I'm very glad we did. We were upgraded from a junior cabana suite to a jacuzzi suite. It was nice, a little out dated but nice and very clean. It didn't look like the pictures...the pictures showed a very modern room but the room was older looking. The staff at check in and shuttle service was amazing but the bartender was a little rude. The restaurant was good. The location was amazing right in the heart of downtown....which we loved! The casino was awesome, way better then the casinos on the strip! I will stay again for sure!
