The only complaint I would have is that the layout of the breakfast room does not make it easy to get food. They have everything set up in the smallest area AND near the entrance. We really enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield Inn. We were visiting for our daughter's 24th birthday. Check in, and check out were a breeze. The room was clean, the breakfast was very good, and the location was great! We will definitely stay here again. "One night only"
Needing a place to stay in the city for the night, this was the best deal available for $81.42. It was a nice place to sleep and take a shower and there where many available places to store clothes or hang them if one was staying longer than one night. The thermostat can be adjusted to your needs which I appericiated because I tend to get cold easily […] and it was a very cold night in Chicago. They serve breakfast till 10am; I didn't like the eggs and sasuage, but enjoy the fruits, yougart, and bagel. They also have coffee and tea, though I prefer juice in the morning. "Almost perfect weekend."
We arrived at the hotel Friday evening to find extremely overpriced parking for our car. The room was smaller than advertised. We were able to get in the room fine. The next day we left early to go to our schedule plans. When I got back to the room that evening, the single most important item left inside was no longer there. Immediately I went to the […] front desk. there was a man and lady who I explained my situation to. They suggested that I speak with the manager. I told the manager what the item was, a homemade birthday card for my girlfriend who was now waiting for me in the room. She assessed the situation after our conversation and came to the conclusion that it was my fault. The manager Janet said that I had put it in a place where the house cleaning would assume to take it and that I should think like house cleaning so that that would not happen. House cleaning said "It looked very important" and promptly took the card and folded it in half, twice, and threw it away. As you may be able to understand I was having a difficult time remaining calm at this point. I remained calm and cordial with her the entire conversation. When I asked for a refund for the room she said if I did not leave the lobby right then and there she would proceed with calling the authorities to have me removed. I have now been in the lobby for over an hour have talked with 4 different people about the situation and have nothing to show for it. The manager walked away from me leaving the situation. Your situation is certanilly a little unusual for us because it seems from what Im understanding that a precious item was placed in an area as not to be discovered by your loved one who was sharing the room with you and then when you left the room housekeeping came to the room, cleaned the room per Marriott cleaning standards and unfortunately mistaked your card as garbage because it was hidden in the same area as the room garbage can. I can certanilly understand your disappointment because the item had great senemintal feelings tied to it, but our staff did nothing wrong, they are trained to empty the trash, straighten up the room and in general proved the room a general cleaning. When I asked the associates working that evening they felt badly that your item was gone, but we cannot reimburese a guest when the staff did nothing wrong. Janet was willing to help you, but Expedia requires the registered guest to call when any credit or reservation questions occure.

"An uncomfortable stay in downtown Chicago"
I have never written a review for a hotel stay, but our stay at the Fairfield in downtown Chicago was NOT a comfortable one. We chose this hotel for it's convenient location, but the room itself had many issues. We reserved an Executive Suite for it's size and separation of spaces. We were traveling with our children and liked that this room was larger […] and had 2 tvs. Unfortunately our "Suite" was not as pictured on Expedia's website. The sofa bed was not a bed, it was a horribly uncomfortable, stained loveseat with a spring "mattress" wrapped in a thin layer of batting. Unsleepable. No privacy wall between bedroom and sitting area as is pictured. Essentially, the room had 2 tvs that couldn't be watched at the same time. We tried to lay in bed and watch one thing while our children sat on the couch and watched something else, but forget it. They were changing our channel and vice versa. The king mattress was thin and we could feel & hear the springs when we laid down. Not what we wanted after long days of travel & sightseeing. The fridge was broken, so all those pizza leftovers had to go straight in the trash the next day. The bathroom, which included toilet, sink & shower in 1 enclosed area, had no vent. I could not get ready while anyone else showered. I tried using my blow dryer outside the bathroom, but no other plug worked. The Fairfield Inn on Ontario Ave met all of our expectations. The room on the 15th floor was clean and well fitted for two people. "Wonderful quality of service"
I stayed at this location for a business trip (with sight-seeing in between!), and I could not be more impressed with their polite, friendly, helpful staff. They were very welcoming when I arrived, patient with my questions, and always had a smile when I returned. What really impressed me was that I had taken a Megabus into town, which didn´t depart […] until late that evening for my return. When I asked the front desk staff about the locker services at the Union Station, they offered to keep them in their storage for the rest of the day so that I could explore the city unencumbered (which saved me locker fees!). While the room itself was wonderful, but nothing too exciting - your standard Queen room with black-out blinds, clean bathroom, free Wi-Fi - its location was about two (very short) blocks to the Magnificent Mile and there are tons of food places to explore for foodies. The bus stops are very close, although the Metro is a little bit (but not much) further out. They also offer a FREE hot breakfast buffet from 6-10am!
