"poor room condition"
TV not work, very noise room, not told there is a hotel parking charge of $18 perGenuine Expedia guest review
Your paying for the location not the amenities. Clean and friendly staff. The $18.00 charge for parking is a bit greedy considering the rate of the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall a nice place to stay. Rooms aren't the nicest, but if you plan on not being in the room a lot its perfect! Close to everything and the Ocean is right across the street! Only thing I disliked was the gym(Couldn't have more then 2 people in there). Recommended!Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall - just okay. Cute from the outside and nice modern update on decor in rooms. Breakfast lovely and service pretty decent. Location is primo. But the hotel is older so some things don't work well (heater) and walls are thin. I asked for a quiet room and could hear snoring on one side and conversation on the other, plus loud pounding footsteps […] above and plumbing everywhere. Did not get a good night sleep and that does not make for a satisfied guest. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not my first choice"
Hotel has a very good location if you want quick beach access. The room was also very clean. This is an older hotel with rooms that are in need of some renovation. During my stay it was very cold in Santa Barbara, no forced air heating, but a wall furnace that I could not get to work even with the control on the wall. Also the sound insulation between […] rooms is very poor. I was on the first floor and could hear my upstair neighboor snooring through the ceiling wall. Also, when their cell phone would vibrate I could also hear that. I am glad I had my own white noise. I travel for business and thought I would try the place out, but I probably would not stay there again unless I had difficulty finding another room in town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Very relaxingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Parking can be a bit of an issue and you get charged $18 per night for their lack of close spaces and no elevator. Very cold night and heater did not work and could not be fixed. Supplied space heater. Prepare for Spartan and maybe this place meets your expectations. This is my 2nd try at this place based on last minute availability. Not expecting a […] 3rd try. "Great location OK hotel"
The location is fantastic. It's across the street from the water and walking distance to great shopping. The staff was friendly. The hotel falls apart in the details though. We got a good deal through hotel.com but they gave us one of the very few rooms with a view of the hallway even though we could see there were a lot of vacant rooms with nice views. […] The red wine in our room had been open and a little wine missing when we got there (ewww) and we had no "do not disturb" card although all our neighboring rooms did - little things that make one wonder about attention to detail. The gym equipment is worn out and there was a jug of water but we had to ask for cups. Breakfast was fine but there is not free coffee in the room. High extra charge per day to park a car. Did I mention the location was great ;-)!? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice but I didn't like the heater. Room either to hot or to coldGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"complete rip off"
The hotel is nothing more than a very old apartment complex with several buildings very much out of date and run down, They charge you a 10 dollar "convienience fee" for the joy of staying there and what they tell you when they check in is that there is an additional 20 dollar fee to park at the hotel that you are already paying hundreds a night to […] stay in! you CANNOT park on their premises without paying this additional 20 dollar fee! The location is on the coastline, but what is not specified is that it is right in the middle of the ghetto and there are homeless people and vagrants all over the complex. I will never stay at this facility again nor would I use or trust this website for recommending this place to me, Terrible Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, location, location ..."
Great pool area and staff was helpful and friendly. Location is excellent and within walking distance of the vibrant night scene in SB. Room was a little run down and the heater did not do the job - granted it was unusually cold during our visit. Great option for those on a budget.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location. The complimentary breakfast (more continental) was very weak, walk next door to Sambos for a hearty meal. The $18 nightly parking charge was quite the surprise as was the $10 internet fee. Both ridiculous. Feels like the Hotels are mimicking after the Airlines these days, everything is a charge now just for the revenue. The hotel […] walls are very thin, especially if you're on the first floor. I'm not going back even though the location was nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Its absolutely close to beach and downtown, however we had some trouble with shower faucets. Parking is quite tight but hotel has parking spots in the back which works fine. Other than that quite nice experienceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"super nice hotel"
Super nice and perfectly located hotel - just to bad service that you were charged to park.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean and the reception gave us a bunch of different places to see and recommendations about where to dine. Night life was not too far, close enough to walk into town or take the bikes before sundown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Slippery bathroom floors."
The rooms are clean, and pillows comfy, however be careful with bathroom floors. They are very slippery!! Also, watch out for the $10 Resort Fee and $18 Parking Fee. I didn't see it when I booked the room. Overall the hotel is in a good location, however its a bit old, and the breakfast room is about the size of a regular hotel room....@ 200 sq. ft […] for 30 people. "A great place to getaway!"
The Hotel Oceana was much nicer than I had hoped. It's right across from the harbor, near to stores and the "funk zone". The weather was a little cool, but the pool was still busy. The room was a good size (2 queen beds, a little alcove with a desk and a bathroom. ) The free (for a $10 daily charge) breakfast was very convenient and quite good. You […] have to pay for parking on site, but there were lots of spaces on the street if you watch the signs. I really enjoyed it and will be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice clean rooms walking distance to beach"
Overall, nice experience with hotel. Hotel staff were very helpful during our stay. Breakfast was nice added feature. I was not too happy about all the added fees like parking fees, service fees and extra charges for eggs at breakfast about $50 extra dollars per day not in your basic room fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very, very small rooms. Close to wharf/beach."
Very dissappointed in the size of the room. King bed took-up 80% of the room. Very little room to walk around the bed and open luggage.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was the best cross between cost and location during our visit, but anywhere else this would not be a $200 night hotel. The rooms open out onto the street, which is the main drag along the beach. If you have the windows open it is very noisy. Although the hotel is on the beach, I wouldn't consider it walking distance to downtown, and I live […] in downtown Chicago, so am used to walking. The staff was very friendly. "sleepless in Santa Barbara"
clean rooms, conveinent location which was nice....no tv channels without paying for them......had 1st floor room and could hear everything going on upstairs throughout night, talking, singing and even just guests walking across room......called front desk and they said they would check it out......noise just continued throughout night, no sleep.......in […] morning we talked with front desk about incident and they suggested using ear plugs which they would sell us for 5$ if we didn't have our own......we will be back to Santa Barbara to check out more of the town but not to this place.... Our family of 6 had a great stay at Hotel Oceana! We arrived at 12 but our rooms weren't ready until 4 (the actual check-in time) so we tooled about Santa Barbara for a while before checking in. The rooms were nice and clean, with good pillows and all of the amenities you would need. I did call for a crib that I never received but after learning it […] was really just a pack-n-play, I didn't need it. The staff is courteous and the grounds were well-maintained. Walking distance to Santa Barbara brewing co, where we went to see the brewerand good friend, amazing beers being made there....oh yeah, back to the oceana...great little place, breakfast was perfect, room was clean. Hotel Oceana is located on prime beach real estate in Santa Barbara. If rest and relaxation is a high priority on your visit this hotel is perfect for you. Just steps away from the beach, fine dining and State Street you can enjoy all that Santa Barbara has to offer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The stay was very nice ,Love the overall feel of the property. The breakfast was great every morning . Only complaint was the walls were not very sound proof ,could hear your neighbors and outside action very good ,a little annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The beds are very uncomfortable and the noise from the room upstairs was quite bad on the first night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel located close to beach and shops"
This hotel is located in a great spot across the road from the wharf and around the corner from the shops situated a short walk away on State Street. Although the hotel is quite old the room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. I had driven all day from Las Vegas was quite tired. It was difficult trying to get to sleep later as my room was situated […] right next to the pool and spa. There were a few people talking loudly which kept me awake until they retired for the night. "It's a old Santa Barbara hotel, what do you expect"
Several hotels have been cobbled together to create this hotel. So, my comments may not be representative of all parts of the hotel. The rooms are exactly what you would expect from a mid 50s hotel - small, old fixtures, doors open to walkway / pool area. I know Santa Barbara well, so I knew exactly what I was getting - no surprises. The price was excellent […] (more on this later) so all was good. I booked the room via Expedia. When I checked out, I learned that the "hotel service charge" was not included in the amount that I paid to Expedia. BTW I expected that there might be a fee for parking, and there was. The hotel service charge really aggravated me. The charge was for "general usual and customary expense" like WiFi, the breakfast bar, and other unspecified (by the receptionist) expenses. The added service charge took what was a lower end price and made it squarely mid-pice range hotel. This is certainly a case of caveat emptor - buyer beware. Call the hotel and confirm additional costs (service charge, parking, etc.) prior to booking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to beach beautiful view"

Beautiful hotel and amazing location!! Loved it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on the beach"
Rooms were nice, weather was in the 80's and room had no air conditioning that is the biggest complaint. That and we were in an oversized vehicle and the parking is very limited and mostly compact. Our option was to park in the neighborhood behind the hotel. If you park in the neighborhood be aware of the No Parking times for street sweeping.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was so nice and very prompt with getting ice (no ice machines for you to get ice yourself). right across from the ocean and very short distance to sidewalk art and craft sale they have on sundays. The room was very small, had to move chair to see TV, had to open bathroom door go in and then close. the shower was like 3 ft x3 ft very cramped […] I guess its because its an older building. Was surprised to learn at check in about the $18 parking fee and then at check out the $10 service fee. I did not see these mentioned anywhere when I booked online through Expedia. Santa Barbara is a smalll town and it is not typical to have to pay a parking fee.Genuine Expedia guest review

"cozy beach front, small rooms with thin walls"
this is a beautiful cozy place to stay right off the beach. note they charge 18 for parking (optional of course) AND 10 for a resort fee (mandatory). the decor both in and out is beach cottage like. you should be warned that the standard rooms are small and the walls are so thin you can hear most spoken words from the neighboring room. we had to download […] and play a white noise all night to sleep through our neighbors even though they weren't being loud. that really took away lots of the coziness of this place. "Charming hotel next to the ocean"
They upgraded us to an ocean view room, very comfortable and clean room, complimentary bikes. We drove into town and had an amazing dinner at Jane. I would love to come back and stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was the second time I have stayed at Oceana. My one grievance is the charge for parking: seems excessive! Also, it would be nice to have better and healthier breakfast choices: grainy bread, plain yogurt, peanut butter, oranges... Thank-you!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel is close to the beach."
Free bicycle rentals made it easy to move around town and explore the harbor. Great breakfast and the staff was very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is right on Ocean Blvd, a two minute walk to downtown and all of the great restaurants in the area and across the street from the Pier. We enjoyed everything there including the pool/Jacuzzi and free breakfast! I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Marked down due to underhanded fees"
I've stayed here many times, it's been my go to hotel in Santa Barbara which I get to a couple of times a year. However, I really object to adding on multiple fees that you cannot avoid and that are well hidden (although they are disclosed if you look for them hard enough). If it's part of the stay, put it in the price of the room. The total price is […] fine, but I'd rather know it up front. Be honest with your guests, it's not too much to ask. And if you're going to charge to park, make it worthwhile - it's free to park on the street and a lot closer to the rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
