This hotel is one of a kind in all aspects!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the hotel and staff. Great location, however, our room had no A/C and it was hot and muggy. The fans were inadequate as well. I'd stay again but not during a heat wave.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Only problem no air condition, perfect location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"avoid this dump. No A/C. dark dingy rooms"
Worst travel experience in 20 years. No A/C ! room was 85 degrees. Dark and dingy, no ventilation. Parking a joke at $18 a night for oversold spaces so we had to lug our stuff 1/2 block to room on opposite side of grounds. This is an old motel trying to masquerade as a spa/resort and it's laughable. Noisy rooms, road noise. Better to rent a motel 2 […] blocks in from busy street and sleep quieter and 1/2 their inflated price. You couldn't pay me to stay here again. We left and went home, it was that bad. I had a great time at hotel oceana! The room & staff were great & the view was unbelievably beautiful. The only thing was that there was no A/C, but luckily it wasn't extremely hot. Definitely recommend this hotel!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was nice, we paid extra for the ocean view which was lovely. A bit over priced for what you get though. I noticed a few reviews said really close to State St but still a fairly good hike if going to the restaurants. I wouldn't wear heels that's for sure! Check in was supposed to be 4pm but our room wasn't available until after 5. They said […] they would call to notify us it would be ready and then didn't. No real apologies either. Other hotels would have offered free parking etc for the inconvenience but not this one. I wouldn't stay here again. Ocean view wasn't worth it really. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but high cost"
Oceana is right across from beach near Sterns Wharf. Older buildings well kept and great staff. Hotel is expensive but at average cost for fancy hotels in this area. Pools are beautiful and quiet, breakfast very good. Lots of incidental costs on top of expensive room rates should be wrapped into room rate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We've stayed here numerous times. The location is close to Stern's Wharf, the hotel and the grounds are beautiful and the service is outstanding. The price is right for this gem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful hotel but no air conditioning. Quite hot overnight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Santa Barbara Stay"
The staff at Oceana was very friendly and responsive - especially Justin and Alix. They did not tell us that it is not air conditioned and that they do not have enough parking. It happened to be a hotter weekend and the rooms was far too warm to sleep in. Justin did bring two fans and that helped, but it was still not as cooled as we would have liked. […] In addition, when we returned from dinner one night the parking lot (which we had paid for) was full. The front desk suggested that we park in Sambo's lot, but they were not sure what time we needed to move our cars to avoid being towed. We opted for street parking, which also required us to move our car in the morning, but at least we knew what time. It was incredibly frustrating. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to ocean but small room. View of parking"
Rude staff. Poor view. No soap. Good breakfast. Liked the free bike rental offered.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location But..."
Helpful staff, great location, the rooms are converted, updated apartments from the 50's... nice rooms but no AC!!! It is not often that SB gets "hot" but the weekend we stayed it was smoking hot. At 1 am the ambient room temp was 79 degrees we slept with the door open.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, but extra fee at check out"
The hotel is very convenient in Santa Barbara across from the beach. The room was very large and absolutely adorable. The WiFi and breakfast buffet were supposed to be complimentary, however they charged us an ammenity fee at check out. I asked what the fee was for and they said it is for the use of the WiFi, the Breakfast, and 2 hours bike rental (which […] we did not use). While the fee was nominal, I felt a little bit annoyed about this. We could not use the refrigerator as it was stocked as a mini-bar. The bathroom could have used a little work as the drain for the bathtub did not function and the faucet handle broke off while we used it. Overall, I thought it was a very nice place and would stay there again if ever in the neighborhood. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel on the beach, disapointing staff"
To call the place beautiful is an understatement. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, which was a real treat. Big bedroom with a small reading room with a couch - fantastic. The front desk staff, however, weren't particularly helpful or kind. (Yes, I know they upgraded us.) When we asked for a slightly later check out (1:30 on a Sunday didn't […] seem unreasonable) it was denied. When I wandered in to ask about a restaurant, they didn't seem to notice me and then weren't helpful. Enough complaining, though, this place is expensive, but so darn beautiful it's possible to forget the money for a while. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stearn's Wharf + Funk Zone + S.B. Harbor"
Great 3 days in S.B. Oceana is across street from strand and includes comp beach cruisers. Everything we wanted to do was within a 2 mile radius.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful, classic Santa Barbara ambiance."
Spectacular property - gorgeous, well-maintained grounds. Charming, European feel to lobby and cafe, "beachy" decor in rooms. Pleasant, helpful staff, Let us use the bikes on the last day after we had already checked out. Great location on beach, Nice sitting areas around outside. Cons - "add-ons" to price for parking, bike rental, breakfast. Check […] if total price quoted for room includes these already. Parking is very limited - we got the last spot twice. Pools are very small and you walk through parking lots to get there. Watch out for overhead fans on first floor units if you are tall or raising arms overhead. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location. At $368 a night, seemed a little expensive. The grounds and surrounding location are beautiful. My only issues are that the room did not have air conditioning, and the bathroom sink was slow to drain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel but way too expensive"
We paid several hundred pounds per night for a good mid-range hotel in a good beach location. Disappointing that the hotel chooses to charge extra for the little coffee sachets for the in-room coffee maker and and there is also an extra charge for eggs for breakfast. The continental breakfast was very basic. Overall it was not a poor experience but […] the rooms were very substantially over-priced. The staff came across as being somewhat unhelpful and perhaps over-worked. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Oceana welcomed us with open arms. We came for a 40th birthday celebration. That being said, our room was on the ground floor looking out at the ocean. The back pool was a calmer setting with beautiful cabanas. The front desk gave us everything we asked for in a prompt manner. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The location was great, and the staff was helpful, but our room was a tiny, smelly hotbox. Way overpriced! Will not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This is an over priced Motel. Great location!"
Rooms are very stuffy! No air conditioning. Although you would not think you would need air conditioning in Santa Barbara you do. With the way the rooms are situated there is not any cross ventilation. The staff did bring a fan however it did not make a difference.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel close to beach and harbor"
We enjoyed are stay. We had a great time in Santa Barbara. The staff was very nice. Great location. Fun to bike and able to walk to a lot of places, since we did a car free getaway. We also enjoyed the train ride.Genuine Expedia guest review

"For what we paid, it was disappointing."
We had to keep the window open to keep comfortable. We were also next to the swimming pool which was very noisy most of the time we were trying to get some rest.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, lacking comfort"
Nice hotel on the beach in a great area close to State St. The bed a pillows were uncomfortably soft, mold in the shower and the room was noisy due to no AC and the windows needing to be left open. Our room was 131 on the north side next Sambo's resturant which made it impossible to sleep past 6am due to resturant noise. Staff how ever was friendly […] and the rest of the hotel seemed to be kept nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location! Close to everything!"
I love the location of this hotel. It is directly across from a beautiful beach, a block away from State Street and sits in between Stearns Wharf and the Harbor. I liked the fact that a continental breakfast was served each morning with a nice variety. The wait staff made sure items were refreshed and tables were promptly wiped down to keep the flow […] of people moving. The pool area was very well kept. The staff there not only ran the bar, but made sure the chairs were neat and that fresh towels were ready to go. The only thing about this hotel we were disappointed in was housekeeping. Our toiletries were never restocked during our entire stay (including toilet paper our last night)! There was also a fair amount of mold around the tub area which I felt could have been a little cleaner. The bed was comfy and the room was decorated nicely. Be aware that if you use the coffee machine in the room, you will be charged per cup. Overall, we had a very nice time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"BEAUTIFUL HOTEL ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE BEACH"
This is a gorgeous hotel and a wonderful place to stay. The accommodations are beautiful. It is right across the street from the beach and a 5 minute walk to State Street with all the restaurants and shops. There are bicycles you can use to travel to the beach and shops. I give this place a 5/5 in every category. The only reason I gave the cleaning […] a 4 out of 5 is because 1 day the room was not cleaned- not sure why. Otherwise this place is a wonderful place to stay. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it for anyone who wants a beautiful place to stay while visiting Santa Barbara. I stayed 3 nights in a row, then another night later in the week. Santa Barbara is a wonderful and vibrant town, and the location of Hotel Oceana is outstanding. Right on the beach, and walking distance to most anything. The breakfast was a good feature. They have bikes to use. The pool and grounds are delightful and well-landscaped. Only problem, is […] the rooms can be noisy as people passing by on the first floor can be heard. And loud kids at the pool most days. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful when it comes to any "fixes." I would welcome the chance to stay there again and would stay even longer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"ROOMS AND PARKING SUCK.....NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!"
Upon arrival and checking in the front desk girl (Laura I think her name was) was not accommodating at all. She told us our room number and pointed to a room on the map and said ‘this is your room’, in the same breath she said the hotel grounds were 2 acres & has several different buildings. She did not show us how to get to our room, nothing!! It took […] us 15 minutes to find our room, which was RIGHT behind the front office. We walked in the room hot and drenched with sweat from unloading our bags to find out the room has NO A/C!! It was so hot and humid!! They were nice enough to give you a small fan though. Next was the parking issue, Laura told us we could park on the grounds and pay $18/night or we could park on the street. She then handed us a parking slip to park on the street, we stayed for two nights, she knew this & she gave us a slip for ONE night. WE GOT A TICKET for $48!! I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone for many reasons too many to add to this. The building is old, the fixtures are old, and the bathrooms are old and unsafe. In this case you do NOT get what you pay for!! EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. The only good thing was it is half a mile from the pier. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautifully kept hotel near the beach"
The hotel is a great place to spend a relaxing vacation.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here for our 20th anniversary. Paid an exorbitant amout of money for a 3 day stay because the hotel is located really near the beach and the wharf/pier. All though grounds are nice the room was ridiculously small. No air conditioner (just a ceiling fan), no dresser(s) to unpack your bags, the bathroom/shower is barely big enough for a normal […] size person. No ice machine (had to call the front desk to have ice delivered) and no safe. Oh yea first come first (self)serve parking that will cost you 18$ a night + $10 a night service fee. Desk staff was not very knowledgeable in credit card transactions and actually denied my credit card that I have used for over 15yrs. Also tried to bill me for flower delivery for all three nights (had flowers delivered for my wife for the first night). For the amount of money spent, I expected better and more. I will not stay here ever again nor will I reccommend this hotel to anyone planning on staying in Santa Barbara. You have better and less expensive options all around this hotel. "It's location, location, location!!!"
The Hotel Oceano offers an excellent location at the Santa Barbara Harbor. If you really need to be at the Harbor, then this is a hotel to consider. However, if cost is a consideration, or if you are interested in having an air conditioned room that is large enough where friends and family members can gather, then you need to go somewhere else. The […] location is in good proximity to some good restaurants on the Harbor Pier, on State Street and at the Enterprise Fish Company. It is also very easy to find and to access during the stay. What you need is just to sleep there, and then spend all your time somewhere else. Bring lots of money!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The location was great...and the grounds beautiful...but that was the only good part. The spacious king suite...at least that's the way it looked online...was cramped and awkward. We got the horrible room..no view. Front looked out at the hedge, and the back...one small window overlooked the trash cans and kitchen. Heard all the breakfast prep and trash […] dumping starting at 7am. With no AC...you needed the window open to keep the room cool. Bathroom was so tight and awkward, I hit my head on a scone in there more times than I could count. Some of the rooms looked nicer, but we didn't get one of those. At nearly $400 a night, I expected better. Felt like I was staying at a motel. We visit Santa Barbara every summer and will not be returning to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"great location, OK room, not so great staff"
This is a hotel in a great location, walking distance from pier and State St and obviously right along the Cabrillo Blvd. rooms are small but OK. It is not great for family stay. I would say it is good for young couples. As far as the staff and service, one of the staff I dealt with at check in time was more busy chatting with a co worker vs trying […] to remember the phone call she promised me! She could not even remember me when I returned in 2 hrs!! The rest of the staff I dealt with were very professional and courteous. anyway, the room were clean and good service but extremely small in comparison to typical hotels in US. It reminded me my trips to Europe in 2007 and 2008 to Italy and France. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Needs an upgrade"
Wide variation in quality of accommodations at this hotel, small dark musty rooms and bright ocean view with balcony rooms. It's location ac Ross from the beach was the best part about this hotel. Had to pay extra for parking and a daily activity fee to use pools!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall stay was nice, friendly staff and free rental on beach cruisers was nice. However the free breakfast included was not a fun experience. The breakfast room was too small and crowded for the amount of people, we ended up taking our food back to room not getting much to eat due to out of food. When it came to checking out, there was an extra service […] charge for using wi-fi and whatever else they claimed it was for. I over heard another gentlmen beside me complaining of "extra fees charged" which he thought were included in price of room. The Hotel was really great, perfect location- close to State Street and right across the street from the Beach. Walking distance to everything. They have free two hour bike rentals which is great. The hotel is excellently located across from the beach and a walk away from where all the shops and restaurants are.
