"More like a motel"
No AC is fine if you can rely on windows breezes but with windows open there is no privacy. Comimentary internet, breakfast, pool and spa are actually charged services of $10/day plus parking at $18/day. If you plan to spend any amount if time in this hotel during your stay, you should seriously consider another hotel. Don't rely on their marketing […] photos. For the price you pay here, you can get a better room about a mile down the beach at a real hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I reserved a large two bed room for my wife, her cousin and her 79 year old aunt at this hotel. The trip was to celebrate the 79th birthday of my wife's aunt. The hotel was very accommodating and made sure that they had a ground floor room, close to the pool and they even sent over a bottle of wine for the girls! The staff went out of their way to help […] get the luggage to the room and even provide ice for the small ice chest my wife brought along for drinks and snacks. We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and it is a little old, but the location and wonderful staff make this a place we will always come back to when visiting Santa Barbara. "Really nice hotel, great location. But"
Really nice hotel, great location, great staff, but our room got uncomfortably hot in the late afternoon and didn't cool off till around 11:00. They said A/C is on the Christmas listGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent central location across from the beach"
Hotel Milo provides beach cruiser bikes which we used along the promenade. Easy walking distance to the pier, wine tasting, and excellent restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
No A/C in rooms kind of made this hotel not so great. But service and location are wonderful. So if you don't mind the heat or are going when it's cold then this hotel is perfect for you. Gym super clean. Breakfast not that great. Staff super fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel-great location"
First night in California. Nice hotel convenient to downtown and pier. Little noisy, but overall excellent stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Can't beat the location"
Stayed here last year when I was under a different name... Great service, front desk people, and pretty nice rooms (ones in the back looked nicer for whatever reason). Showing some age and could use an overall reno. But room itself was quiet, comfortable and right across the street from the beach/wharf. Someone behind the front desk recommended fish […] place at the end of the pier -- SB Shellfish Co, I think -- which was great, and we would not have found without his assistance. Free bikes, take a ride on the beach... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charged for parking and coffee, rolls and fruit."
Only positive experience was quiet room, close to excellent restaurants and clean. Did not like being nickel and dimed for parking and continental breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
The rooms have no air conditioning. And it was HOT in Santa Barbara when we were there. The furniture is on legs and the floors are wood but they don't dust under the beds or furniture. Parking is very expensive and crowded. If it wasn't across the street from the beach and if the grounds weren't so lovely then there would be very little to recommend […] it at all. "The worst hotel I have stayed"
It was literally the worst hotel I have stayed. As we arrived, the guy, I forgot his name, at the reception, was really direct and rude! But I thought ok he is a college kid who doesn't know any better! The rooms were so dirty!! Bathroom was disgusting, it had hairs, and stains! I am a very thin person, and it was almost difficult for me to get in the […] shower! The edges and corner of shower tiles have black mold in them! Yuk!! I have paid a way less than what I paid for this crappy room! I have stayed in westin and ritz Carlton and fairmont for a lot less!! Btw, the curtains are so bad that they don't even close properly and everything could be seen inside! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location, close to the beach and nice restaurants/bars. Also good for running in the morning/evening. Even though some rooms are more in the backyard/parking lot area...so not necessary a great view. Maybe the upgraded rooms comes with front view? Breakfast was nice with fresh croissants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel; having some AC would have made the evenings more pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old time charm on the beach"
This hotel seems to be a collection of older hotels that have been combined into one sprawling hotel. The buildings are old and probably from the 1930's. The rooms have had some updating in décor, but the bathrooms are, well, basically horrible. There is no air conditioning, so even right on the beach, the rooms can get very stuffy in the summer. Other […] than the gardener who starts sweeping sidewalks at 7:00 a.m. right outside your open window, no AC remember, the staff is actually very nice and accommodating. The draw of this hotel is that it is right on the beach and close to the pier and walking distance to some great places to eat. They have beautifully landscaped grounds and if you like older architecture, you will appreciate this hotel. They do charge you an additional $18 per night for parking, so be prepared for that. "Great location and breakfast included"
Great location, easy to walk to the beach and State Street. Was nice to have complimentary breakfast and flavored water and coffee in the lobby. Bikes to ride and nice patio to sit on. We would come back again to stay here. Bathrooms could be updated but everything was very clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was barely bigger than the bed; consequently the TV sits on and takes up the entire desk, and both are placed in front of the one small window. The door and window to the room are set back in an alcove under an outdoor stair. Combined with their orientation this means no breezes reach the room, which has no A/C. The closet was a narrow cubby […] with a curtain. The bathroom door swung the wrong way, making the toilet, light switches, and tiny shower difficult to get to. And the handle fell off the shower door. Maybe the other rooms are better, but 145 is undesirable for one guest, and utterly unusable for more than one. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
You can't beat the location. Cross the street and you're at the beach, walk down the street and you're in downtown State street for dining and shopping. No A/C was expected going in, but was a bit warm in August. Great hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay at this hotel"
This hotel is a dump.. Way to expensive.. No AC. Must leave windows open for air.. No privacy. Bathroom window opens to alley.. You will never know who is watching you shower.. Do not stay here... I wasted over $600.00 for two nights..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel and location"
Issues: Check in is at 4pm which is a little late, especially when previous day Check out is at 12 noon. We were notified that our room was ready at 3:51 pm Upon check in the room was fine went to beach and evening event and returned to room to find the toilet flusher was broken. The asked if we wanted to move to another room which was at 10:30 pm […] we were already in bed. From that Point one we had to manually open the back housing of the toilet water tank to release the water for toilet flushing :( For a room that cost over $250 per night The consolation for the trouble was no service fee 12.00 and no parking 18.00 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location for Beach Vacation"
Location, A+, ont the beach. about a mile walk to main SB downtown shops and restaruants. But pleanty do do outside your door. The phyical bulding is older and mostly in good shape. Rooms are old, loud abut clean. No AC which is fine b/c SB weather is perfect. Charging to park and "amenities" kind of sucks. "A little disappointing"
No privacy in the room. The only window in the room face the corridor. Dark room. Breakfast is a joke (and they charge for it). Great location and free bike is a good deal. Front desk was helpful all the the time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's a motel with hotel prices. Great location! If you're traveling with kids, the pull out bed is great and is in a seperate room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotels photos are taken with a 'wide-angle' so beware. Your actual room will be smaller than the one you see. This hotel is overpriced. The location is probably what determines the high price, but... the front desk and maintenance staff is exemplary. Big smiles and they bend over backwards to help. They're all very good looking with perfect teeth! But […] the rooms and hotel are dated. The tile in the bathroom looks like it was laid by drunken workers with major black gaps between white tiles! Some rooms have the hot water on the wrong side of the sink and cold water faucets that open the wrong way! But, they provide bath products by "l'Occitane"- very upscale! The bed is too 'mushy' with sheets not fitted so they move as you toss and turn all night. No A/C ??A 1940's wall heater !! VERY noisy guests in adjacent rooms that return from drinking at 2 a.m. Painters next doors had their screwdriver in our room on the floor! The bikes that are graciously made available are NOT the ones pictured above. They're much older and mine had a chain that chronically popped off. Parking fee of $18 is outrageous and don't forget that you will pay "resort" taxes when you leave. Breakfast room is pleasant yet crowded, and they ran out of yogurt at 8:30 a.m. with the excuse that: "Oh, sorry; but we can't buy yogurt in bulk!!!" No; no one can but you can buy more! Overall: too expensive for the old amenities; too bad because the location is good and the staff superior. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location was the key"
Hotel is priced high for features $350+ a night.. Parking $18.00 a night. Pools are fine but no Bar while I was there. You get wifi but its in and out. The rooms are hot if you don't leave the ceiling fan on all day and night. Floor level room are fine if you don't mind noise above. Calling lobby to complain doesn't work, but going up to 2nd floor room […] and beating on the door does. Hotel is walking distance to everything from State st to Stearns Wharf so that is cool. 1st time I stayed here it was better though. Gonna check out other spots when I come back Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is ok- very pricey for what it is. We booked an ocean front for a premium - well, firstly it's far across beyond the road and a large strech of sand - so you don't see much, and then its there are rooms along the corridor that turns around which makes it impossible to keep curtains open without anyone walking by staring into your room. As […] a result we didn't have a single moment to "view" the ocean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It was like staying in the middle if a play ground at a middle school! Great location across from beach. We were in a room situated in the midst of a group having a family reunion. The parties visited room to room without closing doors, and commandeered the common area tables for their food, drinks, loud conversations, sports events, big screen TV movies, […] etc etc from early morning to Late at night. Multiple complaints to hotel staff provided no relief until Derek finally asked the group to quiet down. We shouldn't have been given a room in the midst of the group and the group shouldn't have been allowed to commandeer the common areas! Awful!!!!! We asked to be moved to no avail! The room was pared down- not luxurious. Probably wouldn't consider staying there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great service & location, but please get AC!"
Exceptional service and great location...only drawback was no AC. I realize it's California on the beach and the breezes are plentiful as I used to live on one in San Diego, but August in Cali for this Seattle transplant and no AC equalled a lot if discomfort and not much sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beware, no AC."
Stayed one night in early August. Great location, but would not stay here again. Front desk was polite and helpful. Room quality poor with No AC, so slept with one window open and curtains closed. Poor ventilation.. On 1st floor, so did not feel safe, not to mention awakened several times at night by other guests gathered outside my window. "Right by the beach!"
Arriving at Hotel Milo was pleasant and welcoming. The hotel front desk and staff were very nice. The early reg and preference email was awesome. Our room was nice and comfortable. Our only issue with out room was no AC. Completely understand being so close to the coast there would be no need, but coming from a hot environment, having the ability to […] turn on the AC is nice. But the staff was very friendly about it and brought us a fan that was very helpful. The grounds were as if you were at a surf resort, and the pool was great. Their cabanas are so awesome. Location to state street and the beach was perfect. We would definitely come back to this hotel. All in all, I recommend this place, and enjoyed our time there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, high end hotel, allmost on the beach"
Just what I was looking for. We took the overnight train down from Seattle and wanted a high end hotel within walking distance from the SB train station. It did seem a bit expensive but that seems to be how Santa Barbara rolls. The hotel is a spralling complex of buildings over most of a block, some looked to be converted motels from back in the day […] but they did a nice job converting them. Staff was helpful. Free use of beach cruiser bikes with lots of places to explore. Seem to cater to German other European tourist made it feel like we had traveled farther then So Cal. It was a great place to stay at in SB. Loved the location, everything was walking distance, room was maintained and the breakfast was good. They have freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast! The only think we did notice was that they was a really bad sewer smell when we used the water in the restroom! Overall great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Agree with most reviews about hotel Milo."
Over priced for what you get. otherwise a nice place and great location. Arrived early, front desk said they would call when my room was ready, and they did. When I went to register they informed me they overbooked, and would have to give me a lesser room, but would refund $200.00 of the $460.00 for the inconvenience. My wife took it from there and […] bam like magic! we got our room back. Breakfast was basic, but good enough, if it's hot rooms are stuffy, with no air-conditioning in the rooms. Would I go back you ask? no! not unless I couldn't find anything better. I think they get the idea that they need to keep improving if you read the reviews and the apologies over and over. "Excellent location, no a/c!"
The service, style and location of this hotel is excellent. However there is no A/C in the room so we had to keep the windows open. So it was quite loud when we were trying to sleep. We were located at the top of the stairs so a lot of foot traffic exacerbating the problem. There were free use of bikes and breakfast - but we didn't take advantage. "All over the place"
Hotel Milo has it's extreme pluses and minuses. First, absolutely wonderful and friendly staff, excellent location, and oh, did I mention the excellent staff? It was also a great location, within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do. However, the rooms need some work. No AC meant the entire trip was uncomfortable. They did offer to […] bring in a floor fan though which made little difference. The shower head was clogged and water pressure was weak. The walls were paper thin so you could hear everything (yes, everything) going on in the rooms next door and above. The pool was great with free cabanas, and the larger pool also had an outdoor bar. Overall, I would consider staying again only because the staff took such great care of us and were extremely friendly and the location was great. However, I'm sure that every hotel in this price range has great service and a great location, so convenience and comfort somewhere else might win the prize next time. "Great experience. Will stay again!"
Hotel Milo was a pleasure to stay at! We celebrated our anniversary with a couple nights in Santa Barbara and the hotel treated us to an amazing bottle of wine left in our room with a card. That was very nice and unexpected! The room was clean and appeared very well taken care of. The location is great, just a couple minute walk to the pier or maybe […] 10-15 minute walk to the heart of state street shopping. They also give you free beach cruiser rentals which was awesome! Only downside is parking at the hotel is, in my opinion, rather pricy at $18 a night but luckily there is a good amount of street parking. Just make sure you pay attention to street signs!!!! Santa Barbara parking patrol is ruthless and the signs can be tricky, I know from experience when we used to live in SB. We will definitely make this our preferred hotel while in Santa Barbara. It was far more than we expected for the price we paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Fantastic hotel experience, we had a nice room with actual air flowing through it, and a ceiling fan. Right on the beach, with really nice big deck areas where people can gather and socialize.
