"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.

Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.

This was a great stay. Room was very clean and although small, it was very comfortable. They have a cute cafe at bottom. City centre is walking distance. FREE wi-fi. Friendly hotel staff!

"Laletana Palace"
Service was great; room quite small
"Well located"
This hotel was within walking distance to many of the site and shopping, and close to the metro to access the other sites. The staff's English could have been better, and they could have been more helpful or informed, but they were all very nice. Wifi good, beds comfy, bathroom clean, etc. Nothing specifically stands out but it was an overall good […] stay. Read more
"Laietana Palace"
Nice hotel well located at the edge of the old city. The hotel was being renovated and our request for a room in the rear section was honoured. Close to Hop on Hop Off Bus Stop
"great location but..."
Very satisfied with the location of this hotel. Excellent to be able to be right in the center of town. Very close and convenient to the beach, Metro, tour bus and tons of shopping. Next to a neighborhood market and ready access to bank. Very convenient! However, The furnace was unreliable...we froze and then roasted...after 4 nights couldn't get it […] regulated. We were on the first floor and heard all the noise from the street as well as everything in the hotel...the walls were paper thin. The shower was open resulting in water all over the floor. Bed was uncomfortable. Service was acceptable, basically clean room Read more
"The Laietana Palace in Barcelona, Spain"
A very clean, beautiful hotel with English-speaking employees. The bed was very hard, yet, everything else was perfect...from location, to cleanliness, to helpfulness. I would definitely stay there again.
"too hot, noisy."
hotel room we were in was just too hot and no thermostat control. you can open the windows but you'll have to deal with the street noise. excellent location and very hospitable staff. breakfast menu could use some new stuff. there should at least 2 PC with internet on the lobby for a 4 star rating. it's more like 3.5 eu standard, us standard at the […] most is 3. "great location...hard beds do-able"
Great location...in the Gotic district, half a block from Metro. Great resturants to the east and great shopping to the west. The beds are hard but we slept fine. No back aches etc...maybe I should have this bed at home!
Good location and facilities. Near Barcelona Cathedral and Picasso Musuem. Staff was english speaking, plenty of bars and irish pubs in the area. Close to the metro.
"Laietana Palace a hit for Cruise Ship travel!"
After a painful search of weeding through all of the reviews of all the other hotels in the neighborhood, I couldn't settle on a hotel based on horrific reviews. A friend who is a cruise specialist recommended Hotels.com. The reviews were helpful and I asked for a room on the back (which faces the old Roman wall. The room was very quiet, within walking […] to distance to all the markets and restaurants, and a short ride to the Cruise Terminal. The only thing I recommend is not to take the taxis from Plaza Catalunya to the hotel. This is because my luggage was thrown to the inside curb. Read more
"A great spot -- loud, but to be expected"
This was a perfect hotel for my husband and me for a week's trip to visit our daughter who is studying in Barcelona for the semester. We read all the reviews about it being on the main street and, therefore, loud, so we were expecting that. And it was, but I would go back anyway. It was clean, everything worked, the bed was comfortable and the staff […] accommodating. It was small, but most things in Europe are small compared to the US. It was fine. Read more
"A mix of good and bad"
The hotel is in a GREAT location, the hard beds were actually really good for my back & the maid service was excellent . . . and that's where the good portion of my review ends. I asked for a non-smoking room & the room I got ended up smelling entirely of smoke unless I left the AC on constantly. The TV didn't work & there was no clock in the room […] which was extremely annoying. They were also very biased about their "visitors policy" -- on several occasions my friends walked in with me no questions asked, but on other occasions if I walked in with a friend who didn't look like they could possibly be a tourist with $$, the front desk harassed them for their passports on the spot, assuming they wouldn't have a passport on them. When they could provide a passport, suddenly the policy changed again & they still couldn't enter the hotel. Luckily, my friends were staying just down the street at an amazing hotel where I ended up spending most of my time anyway. If I didn't have access to their hotel I might have really went nuts at the hotel I was actually staying at! I think if you go in not expecting much & don't end up spending a lot of time in your room, the Laietana "Palace" will serve its purpose as basically just a place to sleep. Read more
"Old Town Barcelona on a budget"
Just a wonderful hotel, if you enjoy European accommodation. Bathroom had bidet, accommodated early check-in for us, really good English speakers on staff. This was a great, comfortable hotel.
"good location"
The hotel is an easy walk to the Cathedral, Catalan Music Palace and Santa Maria del Mar. Good tapas bars in the area too.
"Hotel Laietana Palace, Barcelona - Great location"
I was very happy with my choice to stay at Laietana Palace. The location was perfect to explore the Gothic quarter and Las Ramblas or the beach/port area in opposite direction. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
"Perfect choice..."
Walk to major shopping, historic sites, the beautiful Med Sea and wharf from this hotel. Metro across street as well but we never needed to use it. Super helpful staff. Winding little streets outside your door and a cool Flemenco 17th century bar and show around the corner. We decided to stay a 3rd night and they were booked but found us another room […] close by. Busy place but for a good reason! Read more
"Laietana Palace"
Small hotel conveniently located in the central Barcelona district. Within walking distance of Las Ramblas, the beach, metro stations, and many visit-worthy sites. However, my room was facing the street and was noisy through out most of e day and night.

Great location but very noisy. No real amenities. Our room had uncomfortable beds but we weren't in them long. Very clean and maybe a little overpriced.
"great location, tiny room"
The room was about half the size of a normal American hotel room. The shower was dangerously slippery. Awesome location close to La Rambla and the Gothic quarter.

"Great location, excellent value."
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are not very large, but they are comfortable and clean. Reasonably priced. Rooms on lower floors are noisy becuase of street traffic.

"Friendly service"
The hotel is conveniently located near the city centre and the rooms were not huge but clean and comfortable with wifi access. When we arrived there was a slight mix up with the booking due to a cancelled flight but the staff were extremely helpful and sorted everything out for us straight away, The reception staff all spoke good English and were very […] helpful. Over all a great experience & we would definitley recommend. Read more

"Nice location - ok hotel"
The hotel is really close to the major sights and most things were between 5-20 minute walk. Our room was very tiny and the floors were dirty. The bed was very hard and squeaky but the bathroom was clean. I think there are better hotels in Barcelona for the price, but it was over an ok hotel.
"Great location"
Hotel is a great location. Room was very comfortable and staff friendly. Only negative is one of features says that there is no Fitness Center, but they have a relationship with a place that you can go to Complimentary. Staff had no idea what I was talking about and they said that is incorrect info. Website should take it off.
"Laietana Palace Barcelona--great neighborhood"
Nice mid-level hotel located in an interesting neighborhood, easy 10-minute walk to La Ramblas, and convenient to public transportation to other areas of the city.
"Nice, clean hotel but a little noisy"
Hotel is nice and in the heart of it all, but second floor room facing busy street was noisy with the window open (and I had to open the window because the in-room ventilation was not great). Not enough for me to discourage anyone from staying there, but important info to have for expectations.
"Great Location and Staff"
Location provides easy access to metro, shopping and more. One block from Argenteria street where locals hang out. This hotel was more than just a place to sleep, they provided personal insight on what to do, where to go and where not to go. They were sincere to each guest question, going out of their way to ensure detail information was not only given, […] but understood. After being in Paris for a month, I can't tell you how much this means to an American. The real value to this hotel property is the staff. Read more
"Great location"
good location for pre-cruise stay over. Also good because its was quiet enough to get some sleep.
"Great location"
Once again, the hotel was beautiful but a bit spartan. Lots of marble floors, baths, etc. We had to ask for additional towels and soap. Needs to make clear that a "Standard double" is twin beds, made up separately, moved next to each other. Great internet access in lobby. Perfect location in the Gothic Quarter. Siteseeing events close by.
"Great location - does not warrant 4 stars"
The hotel was adequate, staff were friendly and helpful. However I expected more from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was over priced. Bathroom was good, room was acceptable but not 4 star.If I were staying one night on business it would be fine, but would not recommend as a holiday stay.

"Great location"
The hotel is right next to a metro station, and is at the center of the Gothic Quarter. It is easy walking distance to Cathedral, Las Ramblas, many museums, ports, beaches, and shopping area.
""Quite Small...""
I booked this hotel for a night while we were waiting to board our cruise ship the next day. The staff at check-in was completely honest with the fact that they only had one room with a double bed left and that it was "quite small" and offered us a larger room with two twin beds. We declined and took the "quite small" room anyway. The room itself was […] laughable, about a foot on each side of the bed, with a bathroom almost as large. However, we didn't stay in our room much so it didn't matter. The location of the hotel is excellent, within walking distance to anything you might want to visit in this part of Barcelona and just a short taxi ride to the pier for our cruise ship. The staff was always helpful and honest with us, recommending great restaurants, giving directions, and getting a taxi for us to go to our ship. I recommend this hotel if you don't mind small, european style rooms and are just looking for a place to stay. Read more
"Easy walking distance from everything important"
The main reason for choosing this hotel was its location, being just 10 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya where the airbus terminates. The level of cleanliness was fine, the help at reception was excellent, well informed and friendly and the price was OK. We didn't eat there so we cannot judge that aspect. The TV set was excellent but Spanish programmes […] are fairly awful and English language films are dubbed, as in France and Italy which should be made illegal. We would certainly stay at Eurostars Laietana Palace again. Read more
"Eurostars Laietana - Great Location."
Good hotel in great location. A little noisy if you are overlooking Via Laietana but still worth it as you are right near Born, Barrio Gotic, the port etc... My only complaint really: the beds are too hard!
"not good conditions.."
the hotel is under major exterior renovation at the moment. the front side room views are completely blocked. meanwhile- the a/c is not operated at the moment, the other hotel not like that under such not ideal conditions - the staff still allocate the front side room, even they have the back side room available - which is not a very nice gesture... hotel […] staff are not flexible at all. very strict on the late check out, even under non peak season.. hotel is very old... with the price you pay you can get a better choice!! "Hotel Eurostars Laietana Palace"
Good location next to Metro station and easy walking distance to the port and beach area and through carrer de ferran. breakfast expensive at 13 euros burt there are plenty of good coffee shops offering breakfast at 2-3 euros nearby. Room clean but rather small and aircon is only turned on in April so it can be a little warm in the spring.
"greate location for greate price"
we staid at the Via Laietana for 4 night; the first night on the front part of the 6th floor and the rest on the back of the 4th floor, and as all the recommendations said - it was worth the move (we had to pack our bags and in the morning and the hotel staff brought them to the new room when it was ready). the room was very clean, OK size and nice […] view if the roman wall, GREAT location with metro on the corner and bus in front to all the places you need to go, and 2 minutes walk from the Ramblas and nice markets, and the touristic places of interest. the staff was very help full and as promised - free WiFi in the room - slow but good for the skipe we needed. Not as promised - many things that where not supplied in the room although said on-line to be included in all standard rooms: bathrobes, slippers...ext... so don't count on it - they didn't give it to us even when we asked for it at the front desk (after 2 days we got one pair of slippers for the two of us when the rooms have no carpets on the floors so bring your own or lots of socks. the bathrobs wheren't even an option, they just didn't have any.) we didn't take the breakfast option - and recommend you to do the same and go next door to Lisbon cafe or to the Santa Caterina market ( 3 min walk) for grate options for no more than 5 euro. so all in all - great location, great price, good service but not really a 4 stars hotel, but we will definitely go back there next time in Barcelona. "Laietana palace Barcelona"
Good position for ramblas, beach and main shopping area. Hotel under renovation,so covered in scaffold at present. My only concern was that we were freezing all night ,as the air con heat setting didn't seem to work.even with extra blankets it was still freezing.otherwise the room was fine, large by Barcelona standards .Good price by comparison.

"Weekend in Laietana for two in BCN"
The hotel has a perfect location, close to the center without being in the middle of everyting. Close to the metro station - a big plus. Conditions in the hotel? Good service, had breakfast outside for experiencing the city and saving some money too. Aircondition was not working that well, even it was november it was a bit uncomfy to enter the room […] after a long walk. You may get a lot for the money, but what you are paying is the location for sure. For two nights was ok, but I wouldnt stay there the next time I visit BCN. Read more

"location!"
4 stars...nah! good location and got the room for cheap so couldnt really complain for the night...could hear the next door couple snoring and the traffic in the morning woke me at 7am.. so my advice..find somewhere cheap and safe for your bag and maybe to shut eye for a moment, theres just too much to see and do in this place to worry about hotels […] !
