This is definitely a 5 star hotel. The entire staff was so friendly and personable. The room was perfect and with a magnificent view of the scenic snowcapped mountains. Loved everything about this place and definitely recommend it.

There was a glich in my travels and the original hotel I wanted to stay at over sold their rooms. I stayed here 1 night only. I was able to stay because I had almost $200 credit. I can't stay there otherwise. The rate is almost $300 a night! Fabulous hotel, if you have the pocket book.

This was our fourth stay in three years. The first two stays were over the top wonderful. Great staff, helpful...the last two stays have been progressively worse. Staff seems more uptight. Hard to get service in bar and restaurant , the food is very poor. Chicken noodle soup without noodles?? Was told you need to ask for them!?? This last stay, the […] main restaurant s menu is fo-fo food, with a chef that has an issue making a burger. We have a stay planned in May ( 2 rooms for 4 nights), and might try somewhere else this time. We really feel our business is not appreciated. Read more

Took a short vacation with my 6 year old son and decided to stay at the Grand America. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious. The roomm was spacious. Our favorite part of the hotel was the toy store, Jou Jou. Its a must-see for any family with children.

It was fine. I had an enormous room (that's good), but it had almost no furniture so it felt empty and cavernous. The few pieces of furniture were old-fashioned and unexceptional. The bathroom was great and deserves a special mention. Hotel is centrally located.

The Grand America made our stay amazing. We booked the room on Expedia when we checked in they were sold out of the Executive suite because the hotel was at 100% Capacity due to a Convention, but the hotel staff made it right and we opted for the Premier room and they covered our meal at The Garden Cafe. The meal was fanatic and would recommend trying […] it, I know we will dine there again on our next visit. We also had The Grand American breakfast in the room and it was well worth it, great bold flavors. Be sure to check out La Bonne Vie for some Gelato and Macaroons. Read more

First let me say that the hotel is lovely, with possibly the coolest toy store I have ever seen. (And a fabulous candy store as well- if pricey). The rooms are large and my view was spectacular. Marcie - the concierge - a delight. The spa is nice (again pricey and with a $10 access charge for the indoor pool and fitness center). The spa staff was pleasant. But […] --and they are very frustrating buts -- the service was hair pulling slow. Room service took twice as long as promised, a box to be delivered to my room took 3 hours and 4 phone calls (And I was charged $15 for the delivery - something I have never experienced in the dozens of luxury hotels I stay in each year). A quarter of the tv stations did not work (despite several maintenance attemtps to correct). My favorite moment (other than the $15 box handling charge) was when room service delivered breakfast, moved the dinner tray from the night before, and did not offer to take it away. Left it. Beware of the help if you do not show up in a suit. They turn their nose up to you and test you like riff raff. Very rude staff! I would not stay there again. It's very expensive and anything extra you want is astronomical. Again, steer clear of the rude snobby help.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. No feeling of "motel" or other beige and white hotels. Thoroughly happy with our stay. We stayed for four days and would definitely to it again. Hopefully soon!

Always stay here when skiing around Salt Lake and always satisfied. The reason I downgraded the maintenance is the showers which frequently adjust themselves from cold to hot and back again. Real annoyance and can get burned. And this is anytime not only in peak periods. Otherwise the hotel is a gem.

Grand America, the only 5 star hotel in Utah. It is very nice...elegant and clean. Our room was spacious and relaxing. I would stay there again, but there was good and not so good details. We pulled into the underground parking and signs were a bit confusing on which direction lobby was as we parked and walked into the building. Ended up routing ourselves […] through some obscure entrance, through hallways, and into the lobby. This has not been a problem for us before. Ice machine not working on our floor, poor instructions from operator until 2nd call when she let me know there were 2 ice vending rooms per floor and exactly where they were (would have been simple to instruct on 1st call). 5 star means you pay extra to keep it as nice as a 5 star should be. Overnight parking, $13 (yes, cheap for New York, but Utah??). Fitness center, $10 (nice equipment, but raise the 5 star nightly room rate by ten bucks and just include the amenity!). Had a couples massage - $130 per person for 50 minutes without tip. Yes, the massage was awesome, but so are $65 dollar massages (I see absolutely no difference). Dinner at the Garden Cafe was superb...5 courses with excellent presentation and taste. My wife had the trout and it was fantastic. So overall, very nice hotel, very expensive, and I am just as happy staying in a 3 or 4 star hotel with breakfast included at half the price. But for a special Valentine's date with my wife, it was a very close to perfect stay. Read more

Not a single bad thing to say. Great experience. The food in the restaurant was amazing. We had the lunch buffet and everything was delicious. The staff was nice and attentive.

Having stayed at a lot of hotels, you expect certain things of certain hotels with all those stars. A 5-Star hotel is a 5-Star because of the details. No question, Grand America has all the basics covered. But they missed a lot of little details that were a bit disappointing. Couple of examples: Batteries in one of the remotes was corroded and didn't […] work; no conditioner on first day; mini-bar was empty; front desk person was not knowledgeable of the in-hotel bar & restaurant options; and the tv reception isn't HD. Again, NOT big issues, but at a 5-Star place, you expect the big AND little things to be taken care of. One other little pet-peeve, you have to pay an additional $10 to use their gym. Don't like the nickel and diming. All in all, I still rate it highly, but just hate to see a hotel that's SO close, to miss the little things that complete the stay. It was a little weekend getaway for my wife and I, and we did have a nice time. Read more

I was very impressed with the service and staff. I came into town a little earlier than I expected and had plans that would take me away from the hotel during what would have been the normal check in time. They allowed me to check in early which really helped with arrangements of other places I needed to be that day. The next day I requested to extend […] check out time by about an hour and they were helpful with that as well. Many hotels I have stayed do not show this kind of flexibility to make schedules flow as smoothly as what mine did because they were willing to work with me. I would recommend this place to anyone.
