I have stayed in this hotel before and wasn't pleased. I thought to give it another try. This stay was a great deal more pleasant. The heating/AC unit which sounded like a jet engine on past visits had been changed so it was a lot quieter. The TV was not right though. This hotel was exactly what I needed for this stay. It was almost connected to the convention center and offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. "Not bad but I would go somewhere else"
They are in the process of converting this to a Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel had water damage and has a bit of an odor. It has the normal construction issues but is just not that nice. The staff was OK but not overly friendly. The rooms have been modernized a bit but still outdated. The worse part is the location. It is almost in Lake Ponchatrain. "Great Value Stay"
This hotel is a gem away from the city. I thought the trip from here to downtown New Orleans would be much more of a headache than it really was. You are no more than 15 minutes to downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter. As for the hotel room, it was very clean and served its purposes of sleeping and showering. The restaurant in the lobby is awesome […] as well and the staff is friendly. I didn't utilize the pool, the workout room or the business center, but all were available. When first approaching the hotel outside and lobby nice. Service was very slow. I did not enjoy having to get down on my hands and knees to plug the AC in and then having no control over it, it was very loud. "Let Down"
I stayed for the Mardi Gras weekend and wished I selected another hotel. I did read the reviews before making my selection in hopes that the others were just being to harsh in their reviews, but they were RIGHT! The customer service SUCKS. The lady that checked me in was VERY nice, but the other lady I spoke with about a inquiry was very rude to me. […] My refrigerator was not work when I checked in so I called the first desk, the lady on the phone was short with me, but advised me that someone would be right up. 1 hour later I had to call back to let them know that no one has come up. I was then told someone would be right up and he was. He replaced the refrigerator without any problem. The coffee maker was extremely DIRTY. "Glitches in the system"
This site advertises shuttle service from the airport with no restrictions or blackout times. When my flight arrived at a few minutes after midnight, I phoned the hotel Kenner to ask for the shuttle and was told that service ended at midnight. No where was such a notice written. I was told to take a cab at my expense. "Under renovation"
The rooms were recently remodeled and clean. However, the Tempurpedic mattress was like sleeping on a sandbag. And the a/c didn't work properly, though it worked well enough to get by. "Poor quality of staff, accomodations and service."
I checked in at 3:30 pm, no one in hotel lobby except workmen. Clerk at desk, very curt. Surprisingly since it is the deep south, I expected much more of a service oriented mentality from staff. I was put in a room next to the laundry room, during the spin cycle, the entire room vibrated for approx. 10 minutes. Air conditioning unit was blowing on high […] cold air, was unable to turn off even after service guy came up and tried to fix it. When asked to be moved to another room, I was told they couldn't accommodate. Apparently the airline crews gets priority at this hotel, the individual paying customers are of little consequence. The next morning, I ran out of toilet tissue, no extra roll in room. Upon calling the front desk as 6:45 am, I was told housekeeping didn't come in till 8am. I called a second time, never received the toilet tissue. The complementary breakfast was of the lowest quality I have ever experienced. This was the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had. The hotel was a nice, quiet and relaxing place away from the traffic and noise of downtown. It was close to the airport and convenient, but away from the traffic and noise of other airport hotels. This hotel was perfectly located. It seemed secluded but was across the street from a casino and only about 15 minutes from the superdome. "Nice room-close to sights I wanted to see"
I had a very good stay. However, the front desk staff could use a little training as to greeting guest. The only two people I talked with that were very pleasant and helpful they were the night (hispanic) maintenance man and the lady that checked me out on Monday. "Great place for casino get-away"
This hotel was very very good. The downfall with maintenance were the repairs or damage from a major tropical storm that hit the area approximately 4-6 weeks prior to our stay. The room was extremely nice. There was a small problem in that not all the towels or soaps were replenished by housekeeping, but that was minor. There was some mildew in the […] tub area that could easily be addressed, however, this did not spoil the stay. The morning breakfast was excellent even though the hotel was sold out, staff kept up with the onslaught of diners fairly quickly. "Comfortable, convenient and a lovely location."
My sister and I spent the last three days of our New Orleans vacation at Hotel Kenner. Our stay extended from a Thursday to a Sunday. The lobby is attractive and welcoming. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful - although they did accidentally assign our room and provide key cards to another guest within an hour of our check in. Once […] that was resolved, we made ourselves comfortable. Our room was on the second floor. It was quiet and clean. The toilet had a continuous filling problem that was never quite resolved. We chose to keep the door closed as opposed to moving to another room. The beds were okay - I believe, though, that hotel managers should actually sleep on the beds to experience the valleys that develop in the mattresses. It's not quite as bed when you have the spanse of a queen bed all to yourself to find your comfort spot. It may be a different story for two. The on-site breakfast was tremendous on Friday morning. Not quite the same variety for Saturday and Sunday. Of course, there were also considerably more people. The manager's Happy Hour should also be taken advantage of in the evening. The hotel is located next to the Ponchartrain Convention Center and the Treasure Chest Casino. Parking was not an issue at any time. There's a beautiful parking/dock/park area by the Casino that makes a lovely walk. We had easy access with little direction needed for the major thoroughfares.
