Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Bethel/Danbury - Bethel

Stayed here on weekend visiting family in the area. It's a motel but it's a really good motel. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the breakfast. Our room was very clean, small but comfortable. It's the perfect place if you're just passing through.

Awful...just awful. There was a slight problem with the registration that was at least partially understandable (newlyweds and wife changed her name after making the reservation). However, the staff seemed more than ready to send us home without a refund over this. I literally had to scream and shout before they were willing to make an exception to […] their policies and allow us to stay the night. There didn't seem to be an elevator in the hotel and the stairs were in a state of disrepair. The room was clean but very small. Bed was uncomfortable and we both woke up with backaches. Free wifi worked fine. Hotel advertised free HBO, but I was unable to find it. "Deluxe" continental breakfast was anything but with pastries, muffins, bagels and cereal present, but no hot food. If it weren't for the difficulties with the staff, I'd say that the value wasn't bad. In this case "hospitality" ruined our trip. Read more

I had a reservation for four and when I get to the room I see we have only two towels, so I run down to the front desk to get a couple more. To my surprise I was given an answer of: "we are fully booked and don't have enough towels for everyone." I was shocked to say the least. However, to the credit of the front desk attendant, she was able to track […] down some towels get them washed and have them to our room in a couple of hours. So we were good for the next day's showers. This happened the next day as well, but once again they were able to track down some towels for us. Bad planning for a hotel, good job by the staff to correct a bad situation. On another note, the breakfast is not the greatest. Very comfortable bed with cushy pillows. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is no elevator in this three-story hotel, so you have to lug your things up to your room. There's a noisy ice machine in the hallway. Would be nice if it was behind a door.

When you are doing an over nighter the room fits the bill. It was clean an neat. I was doing a drive trough to Maine and I needed a bed to sleep in without paying a high cost for 8 hrs. Recommend this location for anyone traviling through.

This hotel is in need of an upgrade! Ive stayed here 6 times in the last 2 years--- every time , there have been maintenance issues. leaky plumbing, clogged sinks, drippy A/C units... you name it! This visit I requested a differnt room due to plumbing issues, and was easily moved to a new room- which had its own set of plumbing issues.I'm done with […] this property. it appears ownership is satisfied with the trade of visiting contractors ( rail and cable employees), since the past couple visits the lobby and entryway have been full of 12-15 men loitering and drinking beer. We had stayed here just a few nights before and the prior room was nicer/ better kept. The glaring issue was the fact that the floor covering in the bathroom had a huge open gash in it which is a water, dirt and bacteria breeding ground. The room was clean and well cared for other than this. Again, the owners need to pay attention to the condition of […] the floor covering in the main stairs/ stairway as it is definitely in need of replacement before someone falls as a result of the condition of it. The flooring is worn to the point that it is buckling and the stair treads are no longer firmly affixed. Ceiling of my room had a moldy hole covered by a towel that had been stapled over the whole. It was disgusting & the hotel staff were unwilling to move me. This was the second time I stayed at this hotel and encountered a major maintenance issue.

There is no elevator and no one to help with your luggage so ask for a first floor room if this is an issue. We were on our way to a wedding. Room was very clean and so was bathroom,. breakfast was so so. but for the price it was very good. In your previous reviews there was a mention of a smell in the halls; that was present. Possibly they need to be shampooed. Everything was in good repair and it was quiet for sleeping. What can I say except this place was awful. I couldn't take my shoes off in the room bc the carpet felt damp and grimy, the room smelled like a dog kennel, and the towels were literal so old they were grey and ripped, not frayed, torn and ragged. The checkin staff the night before proudly stated coffe 24/7, well apparently not during breakfast hours […] bc there was none. And at 9am, nothing was left on the breakfast bar but boxes of cereal, small amount of skim milk, but no spoons to eat it with. Last minute travel due to a funeral meant we had to take our dog with us. Microtel accommodates pets, with a $11 nightly fee. They put us in a room at the end of the hall, near the outdoor dog area (thanks!) The room was clean and adequate for a one night stay.

Clean, and for the price point, well furnished room. The most important factor was that I got a clean room free of smells or nasty carpet or neighbor who are noisy. I recommend staying with them and would do it again. For a slightly higher price than a motel, I would not risk gambling on a dirty room and catching bed bugs, etc.

We were in a first floor room close to the entrance so there was a lot of traffic. Walls seemed paper-thin as were the towels. However, the service was very friendly and the hotel five minutes from our event. Also breakfast was very good. Next time I'll remember to request a second floor room as we have stayed at this hotel at least three times.

I specifically asked if there would be a refrigerator in the room, and was told there would be. When we checked in, there was no refrigerator. I asked about it, and was then told only the suites had refrigerators. We had reserved the handicapped assisted room, and the air conditioner did not work. I was then told that we would have to be moved to a […] 2nd floor room, and the property had no elevator. It was extremely difficult to get my traveling companion up to the 2nd floor. On the 2nd night, we got moved to another 1st floor room. I really expected to be upgraded to a suite at no charge after all of this, but no, we got another basic room with no refrigerator. Overall, the hotel was clean and conveniently located. They offered a decent continental breakfast, but the bagels were so dry and stale, they were almost inedible. This was not my first time staying at this property, and it has always been better than this time, which makes this visit that much more unacceptable.
