Hotel was close to the airport so that great.But I hate hate hate all the parking fees in San Franciso.
Location.
The privately owned Orchard Hotel is a boutique property located two blocks from Nob Hill and Union Square in San Francisco, Calif. The theater district is positioned 3 blocks away.
Hotel Features.
Opened in 2000, the non-smoking Orchard Hotel boasts a marble-clad lobby decorated with a waterfall fountain and a bronze-cast statue dubbed "Spring Awakening." The hotel chef purchases produce for The Daffodil Restaurant from small organic farms and prepares dinners of New American cuisine. Gracious table settings include linen tablecloths, Rosenthal china and jewel-handled Athena-pattern silverware. Fanciful lighting illuminates a bar that serves whole-leaf teas, specialty cocktails and more than 100 selections of wine.
The hotel's function room provides natural lighting and accommodates up to 20 people. A lobby laptop computer is available for guest use, and 24-hour front desk staff offer fax and photocopy services. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the property. An exercise facility is equipped with cardiovascular equipment and the hotel offers discounted passes to a nearby full-service fitness center.

The 10-story Orchard Hotel offers 104 guestrooms styled with soft-toned fabrics and subtle dove-gray diamond-patterned wallpaper. Designed for the Orchard Hotel, the furniture consists of nyatoh Balinese wood. Beds are draped in 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens. Armoires contain DVD and CD players with 5 surround-sound stereo speakers and complimentary movies. All accommodations feature complimentary wireless Internet access. Room amenities include coffeemakers and minibars. Bathrooms feature marble-top vanities, inlaid marble floors, Art Deco light fixtures and Organic bath products.

Flagship stores ring Union Square, among the vanguard of West Coast retail. Chinatown begins at Grant Avenue and Bush Street, while Gold Rush-era mansions crown Nob Hill. Cable cars turn around at Powell and Market streets to head back to Fisherman’s Wharf.

"Clean and Convenient"
The hotel is located close to Union Square and just steps from the Powell Street cable car lines. The room was large, clean and well furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are several restaurants in the area.

The staff at the Orchard Hotel was fantastic, the room was very clean.The hotel is centrally located. If we ever go back to San Francisco we would stay there. Union square needs to clean up the beggars, that was the only issue we had on our vacation
"Only one complaint"
My husband was in town on business for a week and I accompanied him. We loved the hotel. Our only complaint was the internet service. The speed of connection was pretty awful (slow) most of the time despite the fact that the hotel staff said it had just upgraded its service.

"A Great Hotel in Great Location"
The Orchard is a value packed hotel. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The room was very clean and quiet. The close proximity to Union Square makes this hotel ideal. The comlimentary WiFi was most welcomed. A wide selection of channels on TV, but the TV was an old CRT type - not a big deal. Overall this hotel is a gem.
"Convenient location - helpful and friendly staff"
Everything was as promised in the hotel description. The hotel was conveniently located a few blocks from everything we needed (Chinatown, Powell Street) and hotel staff were friendly and helpful in getting a few "out-of-towners" to the hotspots.

Had a great stay except for, we were on the 10th floor and the hot water took about 8 minutes to reach our room. My son was on the 5th floor and he had no problems with the hot water. And the windows didn't open.

Centrally located along Powel St. at a cable car stop that can take you down to Mission or up to Fisherman's warf. Large room and bathroom, unlike most older hotels.

We really liked the Orchard Hotel-- the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the location was convenient to Union Square and to the theaters, and the hotel works hard to be 'green' as well. We have always had an excellent stay. Great staff. The doorman in particular both day and evening. However it is time to upgrade your TV's. The font desk staff was accommodating when I requested an upgrade.

Decided to party on New years Eve and wanted to stay in a central location where we could walk to our destination. We lucked up on a room at the Orchard Hotel jus a few blocks from our party. The Hotel room was spacious, clean and had a great "San Francisco" feel to it, with it's furnishings. Also had great customer service. Great location for Union Square area. Lots of places to eat/drink. View from our room was disappointing. The bed was super comfy. The hotel was very quiet and we heard no outside traffic. Staff were very sweet.

Tlhe location of this hotel is perfect for anyone who wants to explore the SF area. Chinatown and Union Square are an easy walk. Within six blocks, you can catch the Bart, cable car, trolley and/or bus to most any scenic location. "Lots of room!"
It was so nice to have such large rooms and especially in the bathroom! The location was fabulous -walking distance from Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, downtown shopping, etc. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed very comfortable and quiet nights there. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

This hotel has everything going for it except for ownership. During our last day in San Francisco, the hotel began remodeling work in the dining room. unfortunately, the work continued well past 10:00 pm and only slowed down because of the numerous complaints from guest trying to sleep - the only real reason for a hotel room. Other guests and i were […] basically told we were unwelcome at the hotel by a woman later described to me as one of the owners of the hotel. Work did continue as i heard it until at least 3:00 am - although much toned down from the hammering that had gone on before. for someone in the hospitality business to not even apologize for the noise is totally unacceptable. although our room was on the second floor, others were disturbed who were on the seventh floor. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in San Francisco. The room was lovely and spacious. It had a very comfortable bed with high thread-count sheets and a down comforter. The bathroom was sparkling clean and large with great towels. "Great little get away"
I booked this hotel for a little get away I had planned for my wife and I. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were very comfortable. We had a great time walking around the surrounding area and there were some great places to eat! I would definetly recommend this place to anyone and we will be going back.

This smaller hotel was perfect for our weekend in San Francisco. The room was larger than most hotel rooms in the city. The staff was very friendly and gave good suggestions on food and gettIng around. We would stay at the Orchard again in a heartbeat.

Great value to stay in San Francisco. We booked months in advance through Hotels.com and got a great rate. When I was at the front desk using their internet service I heard the clerk turning people away at twice what we paid. (no vacancy) You don't come to SF to sit in your room. The rooms are nice and the hotel is centrally located.

2 blocks from trolly stop, very close to china town. Front desk was very helpful. Good hotel...I was a little dissapointed there was not pool/hot tub but other than that a good place to stay. Hotel restaurant was very good.

Excellent hotel to stay.The location was 50 ft or so from cable car stop (could not hear any noise from the cable car in our room) and about three blocks from the gates of Chinatown. We parked about 30 ft from the main door and walked up to check in then the asst manager walked down with me and helped me unload 4 suitcases to bring up to the lobby.as […] I was doing the paper work he loaded them on a cart and took they up to our room with my wife(4bags because we were on a 3 week vacation and a 10 day cruise) Where do you see that?? "NICE"
We really loved our room...The bed was wonderful and we slept like babies.... The bathroom was clean and the hot water was nice and hot and didn't take it but a few seconds to get hot. Over all we loved it!

Booked through hotels.com - good hotel and good rate. Orchard is part way up Nob Hill along Powell Street. Room was clean, comfortable and very well appointed. Older TV but otherwise 4 star quality. Would definitely stay again.

The stay at the Orchard Hotel was most enjoyable for me. The location was in an area close to all the sites that San Francisco has to offer. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. If I ever return to San Francisco I will certainly stay at the Orchard Hotel.
