Orchard Hotel - San Francisco 37.79029, -122.4082

Very nice boutique hotel w/ a great location. Check in was quick, room was very spacious (had a king) and the bathroom was quite roomy for a big city hotel. The bed linens were cushy and the room was in good overall condition. The hotel is 2 blocks from the hub of Union Square but you do have to travel up and down a very steep hill to get there.

Wonder Staff! Easy check in and out. Room ready early and extremely comfortable. Thank you, it was a great stay.

We were expecting The Orchard Hotel to be spectacular, but found it just slightly below average. The room was small, and had very few amenities. But the biggest problem for us was the noise. Our room was on the third floor, and on the Saturday night of our stay, there was music outside somewhere until around midnight. Then on Sunday night, there were endless trash trucks and delivery trucks starting somewhere around 4 in the morning. Miserable! We were on the third floor, and if you must stay at the Orchard, we suggest asking for as high a floor as you can get. Don't stay on the third floor. Specifically, we were in room 302. Avoid this room. For the money, I would look for a different hotel. The Orchard is on a hill that you must deal with every time you walk outside. The cable car is on the corner, but it's expensive to use and only goes two places - Market Street and the Wharf. Also, the cable car is often full, so you have to wait and wait for service. There are nice places to eat around the Orchard, but I would not stay there again because of the excessive noise, and the less than spectacular rooms, and the poor location relative to all of the things you might want to do in San Francisco.

We booked a special deal for Thanksgiving night. Our room at the Orchard Hotel was better than comparable hotels that we've tried near Union Square (based on roominess in the bathroom and bedroom, free WiFi, king bed comfort, surrounding area). The lobby is smaller than most hotels, so it's not a great meeting spot (lacks seating and the bar and restaurant stopped service by 9 pm). The staff was polite and warned us about street parking enforcement for Black Friday but we didn't really test them for other local knowledge.

I had a few issues with my reservation, but Sarah at the front desk was great and helped to work everything out. The room quality is top notch, as well as the toiletries. I'd come back anytime.

I only spent a night at this hotel but was happy with my stay. It was a quick walk into town to grab food. I was disappointed that there was only one computer to be used which was sitting inconveniently high on the front desk and that parking was ridiculously expensive.

The Orchard does not have continental breakfast, computers to access, free shuttle service anywhere and no complimentary anything. However, the room was very clean and staff were very helpful. Beds were very comfortable and although the surrounding street is quite busy (corner of cable cars), we could not hear any traffic noise on the 3rd floor. Easy access to financial district, great shopping, fisherman's wharf. Definitely recommend this hotel.

We took BART from the airport to Powell street, walked approx. 6 blocks and the hotel is right on the corner next to the restaurant. Great location. Minutes to Chinatown, shopping. Cable cars stop at the corner of the hotel. The hotel was clean, staff courteous. Excellent service. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to see the city.

I arrived early and my room was quickly prepared. From the gentlemen at the front door to the front desk staff to the cleaning staff, everyone was great! Even the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Very conveniently located close to Union Square and the price was right too! Highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely little hotel in a nice location-close to China Town, Cable Cars, and UnionSquare. We found the staff to be interested and concerned that we have a comfortable stay....The dining room and bar left a little to be desired. We, along with other guests were left standing and wondering whether it was open or not and most often just left before the question was answered......There were however, several excellent resturants in very close vicinity. Would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here for 4 nights for a girls weekend. The loction was great. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. Cable Car stop was right by hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were all very pleased and would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Be aware of parking fees in excess of $40 per 24 hours. Otherwise, it's a very well run establishment.

Great location - really central and handy for public transport. Knowledgable, friendly staff also helped to make our stay enjoyable.

Very convenient hotel and location, good service, rooms were quiet and really nicely appointed. Felt more like the inside of a home than it did a hotel. Super comfortable bed and pillows, free wi-fi a big plus.

Great location! 5 min to Chinatown and Union Square. 1 min to next cable car stop. The area is safe at night, and that's really important in SF. About 40$ per day for valet parking, but the car is safe.

This hotel was in the best district of San Francisco, close to the trolleys to go to the tourist locations of San Fran. The room was bright, cheerful and inviting with lush bed linens and perfectly clean. The bathroom was large and inviting. I loved it.

there is nothing to complain about this hotel ...other than the location,,,sometimes late in the night you can encounter more homeless .so night times better make sure to arrive in taxi and no nights walks

I found the room comfy, clean, and convenient. The only issue I had was the additional charge of $40 per day (parking) which was a complete surprise to me. So $80 for parking made the great deal I got online, seem like not such a great deal. In fact, had I known that, I probably would have looked for another hotel that had its own parking and/or did not charge me to park my car. The staff, while slightly sympathetic to my issue could not do anything to help or offset my inconvenience because the parking is outsourced and not handled by their hotel. All in all, my stay at the hotel was just fine. Amenities were great and I appreciate staying in a eco-friendly environment.

Good stay. Would definitely go there again. Staff was friendly and room was really clean. Fitness Center was really just a room with cardio machine but for a small fee, I was able to go to a local gym a few blocks down to use their facilities. I would go there again if the price was right.

My wife and I found this hotel online just a day before we arrived in San Fran on our west coast road trip. We were extremely pleased with how comfortable the rooms were and the central location in downtown San Fran. It was the perfect place to simply check your car and walk everywhere. And if you ever get tired you can pick up the trolley that goes right next to the hotel. What was more impressive is despite the proximity to the trolley we barely heard any distinguishing noises from it on the third floor allowing us to sleep in. The only downside we saw was the parking rates, though it seemed comparable to other options available.

Very clean and spacious room and bathroom. Crispy white sheets and very comfortable mattress. Tasteful decor and furniture. We would definitely stay at the Orchard Hotel again and highly reccommend it to others!

What more could one want? Our stay in busy San Francisco was made even better by staying in the Orchard Hotel. The front desk attendant always greeted us with a smile and cheerful hello, ditto for the doormen. It's very spacious for a large city hotel--the bathroom is huge by hotel standards--and oh, so quiet and clean. A lovely refuge, well worth the price. I will try to stay here whenever I am in town.

We loved the hotel. Location is great, right in the heart of San Francisco. The service was friendly without being pushy. The restaurant in the hotel is also excellent. We were shocked at the quality of the meal.

Right at a cable car stop, near the shopping at Union Square and China Town, this hotel had it all. The staff was wonderful and the rooms great. The bedding was very comfortable and the bathrooms very fancy. The price for all of this was unbelievable. Probably the best hotel for the money that I have ever enjoyed!

The hotel was amazing! My husband and I spent the weekend in San Francisco for our honeymoon. The room was very comfortable.It had all the amenities that we needed. Right outside was the trolley that took us straight to Fisherman's Warf. China Town is around the corner. We had a blast and will definitely stay there aagin!

1. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. 2. The bed was comfortable - we loved the goose-down comforter! 3. It was convenient to many of the sight seeing areas. China town is only two blocks away. The cable car passes by the corner. Union Square was a mile away. Fisherman's wharf was a cable car ride away, or an $8.00 taxi ride. We loved it!

I just returned from a 4-night stay. It was a perfect hotel. Awesome rooms, I requested the top floor and received a top floor room with a great view. The dvd's provided were great! The location is superb. Two blocks to union square and two blocks to China Town gate. The concierge recommended great restaurants every night. Superb!!! Will stay here every time I visit!

This was a very friendly and helpful hotel. The staff had great restaurant suggestions(they have a restaurant on site too).The beds were comfy and clean. We found reasonable parking down the street. It's close to Union Square, Chinatown, and North Beach. This was a very good value!

The hotel itself was an excellent choice for location on the trolley line. The hotel room was very clean and the bathroom was very large. The hotel staff was very accomodating but the management did not honor their commitment. We had originally booked five nights but our plans changed and we called hotel.com to tell them of the change. They called the hotel and the management said there would be no problem with the change. When I called hotel.com to get the one night credit, the Orchard Hotel managment said they would not refund the one night. Hotel.com did all they could and helped us with our bill which we really appreciate and will use hotel.com again. If it were not for this incident, I would recommend the hotel but not now.

I loved the hotel in many ways, but my experience was tarnished by the expensive extra charges (e.g., for 1-800 calls from my room, $45 for parking per night!, etc).

The location is superb! Convenient to everything you want to do in San Fran. The staff was very polite and helpfull. The room was quiet and comfortable...would definitely stay here again.

We found this hotel comfortable, conveniently located, and staffed by a very pleasant team. We felt very much at home here and will definitely consider a repeat visit. We had two rooms - one street front which allowed some street noise - and one on the rear. Both were otherwise quiet, sufficiently large and clean. Good value, good hotel.

This hotel was fine but I don't think we'd stay there again. While the location was good and an easy walk to everything we wanted to do - and also across from a GREAT restaurant called Uncle Vito's - we felt like our location right in Union Square last time we visited was a little better. Also, the wireless internet in the room wouldn't work. We were on the phone with tech support for an hour and they still couldn't fix it. This was important since I had to get work done while on the road. Otherwise, the staff was nice, the room was clean and pretty. It was good.
