I was pleasantly surprised by the Super 8 in Fort McMurray. The staff was very accommodating and the hotel itself had everything a larger more expensive hotel would have. I had friends staying at a larger hotel and the gym facility at the Super 8 was superior. I also love he breakfast!q

The ice in the ONLY ice box they had was full of mud and bugs.. gross...The beds were the most UNCOMFORTABLE ones I've ever slept on and my husband and I had very sore backs/shoulders every morning... I picked this motel because it is away from city core. Imagine there was a sign on the parking lot entrance door to keep the door close all the time, because of bear sightings recently. This was a non-smoking room, but the hallway was still filled with cigarette odour. Air conditioner fan noise was too loud for me. Night time temperature was cool enough […] in June, so I turned off the air conditioner and opened the window. Surprisingly, there was no highway traffic noise, Even semi's were parked by the road side, I did not hear when they leave. (My room was facing trees, opposite away from roadside)Free hot breakfast was good, same menu first 2 mornings, it was changed on 3rd day. Internet speed was slow, it was 3Mbps, good for email, no good to watch your own favorite TV back home. Local TV programs was stale, unless you paid extra. We enjoyed our hotel experience, and we will stay again. The hotel is off the main drag of downtown, and quieter then other accommodations right in the core area. The room was great, and had every amenities needed. There was a free breakfast in the morning if guests are up before 9am. Upon check into my room, i discovered a womans shirt (fllthy) along side of the couch and then realized beside the mattress along the floor drug wrappers, 4 to be exact.. I at that point was very digusted and didnt feel comfortable at all staying there. I doubted the overall cleaniness of the my room, especially the bed. This clearly showed poor housekeeping […] practices of the motel. I went down to the front desk and they upgraded me to a business suite. The staff member at the time (Jill) tried to justify the state of the room, a possible late check out? Late check or not the motel has poor houskeeping skills. I did not feel totally comfortable even being upgraded to a different room, which was cleaner and in much better state. In the future, I would not stay at this establishment nor would I recomend anyone else. Read more

Needless to say Fort Mac is a very busy place with money to burn. make sure you reserve a room well in advance. If you want a hotel room you will pay the price. I am an ex-smoker and when I entered the hallway the smell of smoke was everywhere. My non-smoking room located in the non-smoking wing smelled like a 1980's bowling alley, not to mention […] the dated facility. If I had my choice I would stay there again - the hotel prices in Fort Mac are crazy so Super 8 is the only option by default. Read more

Hotel was okay. Rate was cheap for Fort Mac. Staff were friendly and helpful. Someone had made an effort to decorate the lobby with Halloween decorations, in an amateur sort of way. Free Breakfast - waffles, bacon, powdered eggs, fruit, cereal, toast, muffins - was waaay better than at the Nomad! Room was clean, good sized. Free wifi is always good! […] The meeting rooms were much cheaper than other hotels in the area. The worst thing was getting to and from the room - you have to walk past the smoking rooms, and let me tell you, those people come back to their rooms to SMOKE!!! The hallway smells really, really strongly of cigarette smoke. Our non-smoking room did not smell, but was at the end of the smoking block!!! Yukkkk! Read more

This room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were generous. The breakfast was great and hot for a freebie, plus the staff were so helpful when it came to the waffle maker and basically just did it for me, with a smile. It smelled clean to walk down the halls, this did not feel like a motel, all the doors opened to a joining hallway […] to the lobby. The downside was we had to leave the air conditioner on all night because it was so muggy out and it was quite loud, and the beadspread was extremely snagged which made it look dirty, but the sheets were so crisp and white so I just rolled the spread out of sight. The room is spaceous and clean, beds are very comfortable. The continental breakfast is a nice bonus, lots of food options to pick from. Laundry facility is convenient if you happen to be staying for awhile. There's a fitness room but like most hotels equipment is in need of repairs. Hotel rates are pricey in Fort McMurray. The nightly rates go up […] $30-40 during the week compared to the weekend rates. The restaurant attached to the hotel, which is probably not affiliated with the hotel, food was mediocre at best. The room was not clean I took pictures and will forward them to their head office. The dust was so bad on the mini fridge( that was only sitting on the table) I wrote the date on it...very gross. There was so much dust every where it was disgusting. Cheap room but not worth it at all.

Super 8 lived up to name...it was super...attached resturant...never needed... complimentary contintntal breakfast with hot sausage, bacon waffles toast cereal bagels etc real orange juice and all the coffee you could need to wake up... very polite and helpful staff and front counter...definatel stay when in the area

Hotel and staff itself was great. Attached restaurant leaves to be desired. Specials can be very deceiving when they advertise Prime Rib supper and you get a thin rib steak.
