Pretty awesome is what my super picky teen said about our stay at the Hampton Inn. Great location, clean and comfy rooms, free breakfast and to top it off, excellent customer service. The staff here can't be beat. They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant from switching my room (loud neighbors) to providing me with complimentary deodorant […] (I forgot mine!), and setting us up with free water bottles for our day out. Don't look any further, book this hotel now! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel. Very clean!"
The hotel was very nice. We had arrived earlier than expected and we were able to check in early. Room was very clean. Super close to the public transit which was good and bad. We heard a little bit of the trains but it wasn't enough to keep us awake. AC was ice cold! Super close to lots of great food and the bay. Oh and the best part was FREE breakfast […] that lasted till 10am! Will stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Why isn't this a 5-star hotel?"
If you are thinking about your staying at the Hampton Inn I would 100% recommend it. Free courtesy shuttle to airport, downtown & zoo. Perfect location for all downtown attractions. Can also walk from hotel to any attraction. After reading the reviews of the hotel before I made the reservation, I was a bit reluctant because of the noise, but I didn't […] hear the train once. I was located on the 2nd floor above the pacific hwy. Breakfast was awesome, rooms were clean, roomy & comfortable. Service was excellent. No complaints on our 4-day stay. "Nice hotel for the price!"
Very nice hotel. Clean, cold AC, comfortable bed, free wifi. Only negative is difficulty parking. Allowed only one parking spot! But there are some free parking on the streets after midnight. Breakfast is okay. It's free! Coffee and hot chocolate available in the lobby all the time. Got charged extra $25 after I got home. I have to find out what it's […] for! "Good service, hard beds"
Service was great at this hotel, but two points of warning/information for anyone planning on staying here. 1. The bed in our room was really hard. 2. They charge $12 per day for parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great deal and fabulous price!"
This location is easily accessible by mass transit and a brief waljk or trolley ride to many attractions. I was able to walk to Little Italy and take a quick trolley ride to the Gas Lamp district. The airport shuttle was a great service and everyone on the staff was so helpful and polite.Patricia at the front desk is a treasure and Alejandro the maintenance […] man was helpful and cheerful, ensuring that my concern was addressed and remediated immediately. The breakfast bar was one of the most complete offerings I have ever seen and I was floored by the staff's offer to provide me with a brown bag breakfast for my early departure. This place is a gem and a great value for the money! I will definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, I was pleased with my stay. The hallways to get to the room were stale and warm, however my room was clean and comfortable, and the a/c worked well. The hotel supplies earplugs if you're a light sleeper because the train behind the hotel runs quite late. My only 'complaint' was actually the parking. There isn't enough! You pay $12 to park, […] but there are not enough spots for every hotel guest and many people end up double parking. We were lucky to get a spot, but it was verify difficult to get out in the morning. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to harbor"
The staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating. Hotel is only a block from the harbor and we spent the whole next day there. Even though we had already checked out, they still let us keep our car in there parking lot until late evening. FYI-parking is $12 dollars in their lot but there is also alot around the corner of hotel which is $10 dollars. […] Would highly recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Experience in a great city!"
The hotel staff was helpful, room was clean, and location was good. We did not notice any train noise during our stay. My only compliant is that our room did not have a mini fridge or microwave which should be standard in a hotel of this caliber. San Diego is amazing!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Awesome hotel In a great location"
This is a great hotel for the price. It's very clean, service is great, and the breakfast is very good and complex.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed just for one night for just a quick girls get-a-way. The hotel was in a very nice area, a couple clocks from Little Italy and from the bay. The train does run right behind the hotel, but we were so worn out from site seeing all day, the slight noise from the train and the warning signal did not keep us from sleeping. But they do provide ear […] plugs if you think it may be an issue. The beds were plush and comfortable and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was wonderful and had lots of options to choose from. The staff was helpful and very friendly, they were able to check us in early and provided us with maps of the area and told us how to use public transportation. Also, the hotel shuttle not only would take you back and forth to the airport but to the San Diego Zoo and Park. I really enjoyed this hotel and we will stay here again. "Excellent Hotel with a Negative Point"
This is a very nice hotel in Downtown very close to harbor. Room, beds and bathroom are very nice and clean and in good size. Internet access and breakfast is included. Breakfast buffet is nice and rich. The hotel staff is nice and helpful. There is a self parking garage with surcharge which is small relative to the size of the hotel. If you arrive […] late at night, the garage is full. But there is a parking lot behind the hotel ($10 for 12 hours). The only negative point about this hotel is a railway behind the hotel which is naturally loud as the trains drive by specially at night. It means the rooms on the back side of the hotel (not the street side) are relatively loud and I wonder why such a nice hotel does not have double pane soundproof windows. "A good Little Italy hotel choice."
Some rooms are badly effected by noIse from the Amtrack lines at the year. Ours was not, and we thank the front desk personnel and manager for making our's an excellent stay! A daily riddle and warm cookies and reasonable pricing made this Hampton experience a good one.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel within walking distance of everything"
My girlfriend and I eloped to San Diego and wanted to stay some place close to the gas lamp district and seaport village. The Hampton Inn is perfect for doing that. "Great weekend in San Diego"
We stayed at the Hampton Inn with our grown children for a long weekend. The hotel has reasonable rates for parking ($12.00 per day), was walking distance to Little Italy, the waterfront, the Gaslamp, and a short drive to Balboa Park, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, etc. Good service, clean room, and great location for a reasonable price.Genuine Expedia guest review
We really enjoyed the hospitality of the staff. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating in terms of giving us a room with a view of the harbor. The breakfast choices were exceptional. The rooms were tidy and clean. We were pleased with our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The room was very clean and confortable. The breakfast was great, so did not have to go look for a place to eat first thing in morning. Good start to the day! Hotel staff where friendly and helpful! Great hotel very clean! Would suggest if you're visiting San Diego!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located close to Little Italy with great restaurants. We left on a cruise the next day. The ship was right across the street. The hotel shuttle took us to the ship and we walked back to the hotel with our luggage after the cruise. Great hotel for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hampton Inn Review"
The hotel was decent! My main complaint would be the location of the hotel. It is located right next to a train stop so you will hear it all night long. Other than that the service was great. The breakfast was good and the beds are comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

From the moment I was picked up at the airport, I was delighted with the outgoing nature of Chuck, the driver. Every person I met including all the front desk staff, the kitchen staff, the housekeepers and the additional drivers were exemplary of true hospitality. "Nice Friendly Place"
Very friendly staff. Hotel features are OK. Breakfast was excellent. Conveniently located next to trolley system. For the price, this is a bargain. Room was somewhat noisy, but tolerable. I will use it again if I return to San Diego!Genuine Expedia guest review
The location and hotel were great! It is very close to everything and easy to get around! The one down fall was the staff. They weren't very nice or helpful! The breakfest was surprisingly good!Genuine Expedia guest review
After a 7 hr trip from the Bay Area, we arrived at 12:30 pm very tired. NO PARKING available! So we spent another 1/2 hr trying to find a place to park and then had to walk quite a distance back to the hotel with our bags. The clerk was RUDE and didn't seem to care that the hotel had only 100 parking spaces for 200 rooms. The location was TERRIBLE, […] situated next to a noisy train station. "Perfect for Cruisers"
If you are going or coming from a cruise this is the PERFECT hotel! Free shuttle from airport and to the cruise terminal, short walk to the harbor for activities...we highly recommend the Old Town Trolley...it takes you all around the city and you can hop on and off at all the major attractions. The hotel linens are top quality, very good breakfast […] buffet and you can actually see your ship from the window. Only negative could be the train tracks behind the hotel if you are a light sleeper (hotel provides earplugs) but it didn't bother us at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient place to stay for sight-seeing"
Not much to complain about. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. The building seems well maintained and the maids did a great job (liked the cute way they folded the towels and even the toilet paper). The free breakfast is one of the better ones I have encountered, they have most everything you'd want. Free computer and printer down in the lobby […] if you didn't bring your own. The only thing I'd like to see added would be a fridge and microwave in the rooms. I could hear the trains going by and the crossing signals, but really, they're not that often, and I don't mind a little city noise. Earplugs are provided if you are sensitive. If you need a quick bite, there's a Jack-in-the-Box on the next block. If you like Italian, there's tons of Italian restaurants on India St. in the Little Italy district just a couple of blocks away. But this is a good choice if you're not using a car. The trolley stop (County Center/Little Italy) right behind the hotel is on the Green Line. You can use this to get up to the Old Town stop where you can catch a bus to Sea World. You can also use this to get to the Sante Fe Depot stop where you can switch over to the Orange Line which will take you to the City College stop where you can take a bus to the Zoo/Balboa Park. The hotel is also within reasonable walking distance (about 5 blocks) of where the ferry to Coronado leaves. This is also where you can catch your whale watching cruises. This was a great, clean hotel. Breakfast was busy, yet good- Lots of options. Wish there was a hottub. Don't forget about $12/ day parking fee. Elevators were slow. Great/ safe feeling neighborhood, yet a little off the path. But... I'd stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel for family"
We stay at this hotel me and my family. We recomend it because is clean, good priced and has a good location closed to the Embarcadero. The additionals that I like is that includes wi-fi, the breakfast buffet (included in the price per night) is good, and the parking ticket it is not that expensive. The 2 things that might be an issue are the pillows […] (are uncomfortable) and the bathroom do not have fan (so humidity takes forever to go away). Even that I will consider stay at this hotel. "Hampton Inn San Diego Downtown"
The Hampton Inn is within easy walking distance of both Little Italy and the Gas Lamp districts. The rooms are nice, the convenience to rail (both the Coaster and light rail) is excellent and it is kept up well.
