"Hotel did not honor our original room request"
We had reserved a king deluxe sky level room but when we arrived were checked into a room with a double bed and a small room. When we complained we were told that booking directly through hotels.com did not guarantee what we had reserved. We called hotels.com operator and she called hotel and also awarded us a credit and then the next day we were suddenly […] moved into the room we had reserved. All the hotel did for us was give us free parking for a night, which amounted to $19. I would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unwrlcome in Seattle"
Expensive For a below averge stay!!!! Very bad un everything sense. Location, Service, cleanliness, decor. This si my First time to Pay 350 For a hotel without bellboy Service and no tomo sevice. Deplorable that a hotel cán get away charging top dollar for below dollar Service! Look elsewhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in U District"
Stayed and Hotel Deca and enjoyed the visit there. Was very impressed by the front staff and there is a very good restaurant right in the hotel; actually it was the best in the immediate area for a good dinner. Please try it!Genuine Expedia guest review
"There Before The Cruise"
We were there because we got a good deal, needing to spend the night in Seattle before boarding our ship the next day. The hotel is right out of the 1930's, art deco, was comfortable and the staff was very good, very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood was nice - right at the edge of U of Washington, which meant lots of options for food and entertainment, […] and a church was just up the block, easy for us to attend just before taking a taxi to the Norwegian Cruise Lines terminal. "Okay, but didn't get the room I reserved"
Overall, my stay was fine. The man who worked at the front desk, I believe his name is Paul, was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help me out when I locked myself out of my room. The lobby was very nice as well, with chairs and a fireplace. However, the room itself was a little disappointing. The bathroom was very small and had some […] hairs that weren't mine stuck random places (like to the molding). It didn't seem really dirty, just also not really clean. The same was true for the rest of my room: the furniture was fine, but seemed like it had been through a lot. Both the side table and TV stand/dresser had large areas on them that looked like things had been poured down the front of them, perhaps a repainting job gone wrong? Also, the bed was small. When booking, I was given the choice of two queens or one king in my room. I am not sure which I chose, but I didn't get either. There was only one bed and it was a full. It was okay just for me, but if I had another person with me, we just wouldn't have fit, especially since one side of the bed was completely against the wall so it would fit in the room. That being said, the room was quiet and the closet was huge. The place wasn't terrible, but it was the only hotel in the area with rooms at the last minute, and I now understand why. For what they charge, it just isn't up to par with other hotels that charge the same amount. The Hotel Deca is fine in a pinch, but wouldn't be my first choice Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Older renovated hotel with good charm. I liked the location and the rooms are very big.Genuine Expedia guest review
"too small for too much"
the price was too much and the key card for the room and elevator was a nightmare. And the ice was not convient. Will not stay here again!itGenuine Expedia guest review
I thought that this hotel has a few more stars that it really worths and here is why: 1) My room had a huge and ugly coffee stain on the furniture, had coffee packets but not a coffee machine, 2) The bed was pretty uncomfortable, seemed a little overused as well, 3) The elevator situation was a pain, with cards not working and guest totally confused […] and going trips up and down until they reach their destination, 4) The closet was smelly. Other than that, the hotel has a nice view. Not really worth the 4,5 stars. Not going back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Reliving Our Youth"
This was our first time staying in a hotel in the University District. The last time my husband and I had been there was when we were 18-21 years of age. (we're now senior citizens) It was so much fun reliving our youth! The hotel was perfect. Beautiful room and we had the luck of getting a corner room with a full view of the fireworks on Lake Union. […] Could not have been better. It's an older hotel but certainly updated. The clerks were helpful and friendly. We had drinks in the District (downstairs bar) and the bartenders/servers were very friendly and prompt. All in all, it was a very relaxing week-end in a beautiful hotel in a fun area. We would stay there again and certainly recommend it to others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
All in all the stay was very pleasant. The room size was quite spacious. I think communication could use some improvement. We were compensated without hesitation for the slight error. Staff was very willing to help when needed. Would definitely stay again. Love the Tullys coffee shop adjacent to the hotel lobby. My only complaint, if you want to call […] it that, is that they have parking right on hotel property ( a good thing ), and they charge per night. For the price of a room, that should be a given ! I have stayed in lessor price property and parking is always included. I am talking about major cities the size of Seattle or larger. But this hotel was very close to Husky Stadium ( 30 min. walk through the campus ) at it suited my needs for the weekend. Still, if I need to stay in Seattle again, I will look for a hotel with parking included. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A/C failure ruins a night's sleep"
A 1930s building renovated in Art Deco style with smallish rooms nicely decorated. What began as a decent stay was ruined by the hotel's air conditioning system failing on our last night. The only solution offered was for us to open our window and they would provide a fan. The temperature in Seattle had soared to over 90o that day. The fan was so noisy, […] we ultimately turned it off. We sweltered in the room, had a very early flight in the morning, so got virtually no sleep that night. The hotel's night manager gave us a weak apology when we left at 3:45 AM for the airport. Also, the hotel charges $19 a day for parking in an adjacent public parking lot that only charges customers from off the street $12 a day. They also charge extra for bringing up microwaves, refrigerators or roll-away cots. Unfortunately there are only a few hotel choices in the University of Washington area. We have family nearby, so we've tried most of them. We won't be back to Hotel Deca anytime soon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great! Staff was super efficient and helpful. The complimentary DVD's came in handy with a very impressive kid's selection. Closet was huge, but wish there were more drawers. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"I love this hotel!"
This is the second time I have stayed at the Deca and have loved the experience both times. It is a "retro" hotel and the decor is lovely, the rooms very comfy and the staff is courteous and helpful. If you can spare the extra bucks, spring for one of the view rooms and if you are lucky you will get one that will allow a view of the Olympic Mountains, […] downtown Seattle and Mt. Rainier. Be aware that it will cost you $20 for off street parking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Terrible stay at hotel deca"
We have stayed at Hotel Deca for one night in June during UW graduation season. The price was unreasonably high and the hotel condition was bad. Our room (room 311) was dirty, creepy, tiny and cold. Clearly, no one has cleaned the carpet for a while. The AC was out of order. Room was dingy. Bed was uncomfortable. Rude staff too, when we want an extra […] beddings. Overall, terrible experience. Never go back again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
To start the room was not ready at 3 to check in and this was on a Wednesday. The restaurant downstairs was very disappointing, Saturday morning when we showed up for breakfast it was like we were an inconvenience told us they were out of coffee and did not offer to make any. The next morning same waiter and we had to do are own coffee refills, basically […] you could tell that the waiter did not want to be there. When you pay $300 a night you at least expect to be treated kindly and with respect. I have stayed here many many time. There was also rom service trays that did not get picked up for over 24 hours. "clean place to stay"
The building is old but the room has been remodeled. The photo on the website is a little misleading. From the picture if looks like there is a sitting area on the rooftop and from there we can see Seattle's night view. It turns out the area is only for presidential suit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice stay in seattle"
the hotel rooms a nicely furnished, comfortable and clean rooms. the bathroom is modern and in good repair. Liked the fact that there is a Tully's Coffee in the lobby. hotel is located very close to the UW campus and University District, so it is easy to walk to get food. Outdoor parking at the adjacent parking lot is very nice and very convinient.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff, especially the front desk, was excellent, professional, friendly and helpful. All were great; Justin is one whose name I remember. The shuttle service within a 5 mile radius is a great plus for the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I only had one small problem with my stay, and the general manager handled it exactly as I would have expected from a 3.5 star hotel. It's a unique hotel that lives up to both its rating and this review.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We'll be back"
Have stayed there many times, usually just a one night stay and has always been good. My only criticism really is the bar downstairs - staff and service were fine but the space itself could definitely be.more interesting and inviting.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but EXPENSIVE"
The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is in the University District -- within walking distance to UW. The neighborhood is great -- lots of restaurants and shopping. The hotel is fine -- but way overpriced for what you get. Very mediocre fitness room (more like a closet) and mediocre restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"UW medical access"
Hotel has an interesting yesteryear appearance. Mattresses and pillows were apparently bargain priced . Nice room and bar service. Mass transit rail access being built nearby. Rooms are small and refrigerators and microwaves have to be requested.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NIce hotel if you are visiting the UW."
The picture you see in this page is not what you is available to you, Or at least they did not offer me aa dinning experience with this view. If you are visiting the UW area is ideal located. Great driver service to the airport. Not a good restaurant but many places to go walking distance. If you are traveling with kids under 21 they can't seat with […] you at the hotel bar to have a eat. "Disappointed with Deca Hotel but location Good"
We were disappointed with our stay at the Deca. Personally we did not care for the creepy black and dark purple décor, the staff was not friendly, the parking was $19 per night, and there was no breakfast included. I know of at least two other hotels in the area where the staff is friendly, the décor is cheery and fresh, the parking is free and breakfast […] is included. I would not stay at the Deca again. "Old hotel modernized"
Hotel Deca is an upgraded hotel with some modern features and a lot of amenities, though you have to ask for some of them. The rooms are very clean and nice. There is a restaurant/lounge that is so-so and a decent coffee shop for lunch. If you want room service, order out instead. They have microwaves and refrigerators available in-room, but you have […] to request them. Overall, Hotel Deca is a nice hotel that I would recommend Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"The Deca is conveniently located."
Front desk very helpful in recommending restaurants and places of interests. Also set up my return trip to the SeaTac airport. I had a studio room which was fine for my stay. Only negative was the small bathroom. Almost had to stand in the shower to close bathroom door. No USA Today paper in lobby nor a continental breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very bad. Says complimentary breakfast- provides a $2 discount coupon. The tea pot was broken, the house keeping staff was not available until 7 AM to get another working one. Very Noisy. Had to call for new towels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not so good"
Good location for the school. Not so good for sightseeing and restaurants. Nothing in walking distance worth seeing. Also, I accidentally left a pair of jeans in the room and they apparently were not found. Seriously? Taking someones jeans?Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We liked this hotel. The staff were friendly and professional and we had a room with a great view. If you are a late riser, the hall noise in the morning was pretty loud from 9:00 on. We just had appetizers in the bar but they were delicious. The location was very convenient and accessable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our regular stay in Seattle"

"Nice place, misleading promotion"
We liked this hotel. The service was responsive and the location excellent. Just one issue: the photo in the promotion for the hotel shows a rooftop restaurant with a killer view of downtown Seattle. This picture is why I booked the hotel. The catch is that while the view is genuine the roof contains no such restaurant. When asked at the front desk […] how "I get up to the roof to see the view" I was told that I cant because "no one is allowed up on the roof." If no one is permitted on the roof showing the picture creates a misleading impression that you can enjoy this view. You can't. And, frankly, I think that's wrong. Take down the photo. The hotel's proximity to UW and I-5 is perfect! The hotel was very comfortable and met our needs just fine. It is an older hotel that has had some upgrades but not a total tear out. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom very small but adequate and there is a Tullys in the lobby. I would definitely stay there again if I was going […] to be in the area. "Great quality for the price"
Comfortable beds with nice linens. Large rooms and relatively quiet, considering the location in the heart of the University district. Small, funky bathrooms -- this is an older building that has been renovated beautifully. Only two towels which so towel was still damp in the morning after an evening shower. Didn't allow a late check-out even though […] not booked the next day. Why? All in all, a very comfortable stay for a reasonable price. Recommend for anyone visiting their kids at the UW.
