"Nice Boutique but under renovation"
07/04/15 Traveling-elephants
This is a great hotel and greater potential to be a nice boutique hotel, Location is nice and most importantly the staff is awesome. Samy and Charlotte were very nice and helpful, they go out of their way to help. Rooms are nicely designed and got a charm to it but very tiny like most of the hotels in Paris. Easy walk to lot of metro lines. good restaurants and bars round the place .Go to LA BELLE EQUIPE for a coffee or lunch or a drink. Opposite Hi Matic there is Clamato one of the famous restaurants. In fact Rue De Lappe one of the party lane is just 5mins walking distance. The reason i m giving 3 stars coz this July 2015 when i was there it was under renovation so was a big mess, infact it looks like a giant storeroom now. Lifts were full of lose paints and there were plastic sheets all round the hotel coz of the paint work. But if you are planning a trip to paris and planning to stay post august you will love it for sure.

"Perfect especially for couples"
06/25/15 Rlerius Torino, Italia
We have been in this hotel with my wife for our first year of marriage. It has been a wonderful stay, receptionists are very kind and helpful. Rooms are quite small but very well organised and very clean (my wife is allergic to dust mites and she never sneeds), and bathroom was small but wonderful!  If I should find some defects, are the very heavy doors (but I had my hand injured all along my stay so it doesn't matter so much) and the restructuration works during our stay (but it doesn't bother us because we were always outside living the city). Very good position, 5/10 minutes by walk to the metro line 9, 15/20 minutes by walk to the metro line 1. I advice this hotel especially for couples! Many many thanks, Hi Matic Hotel!

"basic in an unsafe area"
06/18/15 travllvr099 San Diego, California
this hotel is still under construction. Its very basic there is a bed, small bathroom, tv. very little room for luggage. there is no way to actually the door and not allow the maid to come in. even when you lock it she can still walk in, they do not knock even. there is no do not disturb signage. the reservation we booked stated breakfast included which consisted of bread, yoghurt, fruit, they want you to pay extra for coffee, when we checked out they wanted us to pay for it. Gave them the email with the details it was included. the stay wasnt bad the area is over 3 miles from the start of central paris. i would not advise using the bastile train station at night. we got assaulted and robbed, my boyfriend was missing when i came to after being thrown into a wall. the staff at the hotel tried to help me with contacting the police and hospitals however when you dont speak french no one wants to help you. i think the concept in this hotel will be good but the neighborhood needs to be safer and the safe in the room needs to work and the door needs to lock. just my input.

"Great hotel currently being renovated - lots of potential"
06/05/15 Meena S London, United Kingdom
I found this hotel on Ebookers and booked for a one night stay as was visiting friends who lived nearby. Was a little wary from pictures on Tripadvisor and from entering the building but was delightfully surprised when I got to my room. Check-in was quick and without hassle. The hotel is currently being renovated (I think it used to be a hostel) so the lobby looks very basic. However, the best part was opening the door to my bedroom. The rooms aren't the biggest, but then again, I have stayed in 5-star hotels in Paris which were the same size. The room was beautifully designed (each room has a different colour theme), with modern decor. I had room 41 - red panelled walls, red/black wallpaper, plush red curtains, black furniture and very creative lighting. The bathroom was the biggest surprise, with tiny lights in between the black tiles. The room is perfect if 1) you are planning a romantic weekend away (nice view of the old buildings across the road), and 2) you won't be spending all the time in the room, i.e need the space. The wardrobe is small but still plenty of room. The hotel has also invested in french amenities brand 'Durance' for the bathroom products. It is close to two metro stations, has a bus stop opposite the road, less than five mins walk from rue Paul Bert which has incredibly good restaurants, and about 10 mins walk from Bastille. Once the whole place is renovated fully (only lobby, staircase and a couple of rooms outstanding), it will be a pretty amazing. Would (and will) definitely stay there again.

"We got what we paid for"

This is more of a hostel that has been turned into a hotel. It's not terrible, but just very small. The room was clean but very small for 2 people. I was sharing with someone else and the bathroom was pretty much in the same room, we asked to change on the first night but they said it was all full. We asked again in the morning and they were happy to let us change and we got a bigger room! Staff was helpful and spoke good English, some were better than others, but still helpful and nice. Aside from tissue, they don't really provide anything else in the room, could have done with some water or a kettle in the room. We did ask for some water and was told to get it from the restroom tap, so we decided to buy bottled water as it would be safer to drink. Overall it wasn't bad for a place to sleep, as we didn't spend too much time in the room.

"Interesting idea, wouldn't stay again."
03/29/15 elcy96 London, United Kingdom
Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Hi-matic last November for a long weekend. We had read the reviews, and knew what to expect, but the reality of actually staying in one of the Hi-matic tiny cramped rooms was quite extreme. Worst that the lack of space (we had a mattress on a sort of crash mat set up on the floor) was the lack of windows which could be open. The room was airless, overly warm, and stuffy. The best thing about this place is the location and self service breakfast, especially for the price, but the rooms, cramped hall ways and tiny lift mean next time we visit Paris, we will spend a bit more to get somewhere else.

"summer holiday"

I stayed in the HI MATIC, with my son, very friendly staff, very clean, the hotel was next door to a bakery and across the road from a supermarket, loads of cafes and restaurants and only 5 minutes from the metro. I loved the hotel and would stay here again

"Ein bisschen enttäuscht"

The cleaning staff left the medication from the previous visitor behind the matrass, which shows that the room was not cleaned properly. The Food wasn't organic (As mentioned in their descripton) and also verrrry small. There was nobody to change the batteries of the safe, even after asking two times, so we had to hide everything. Our room was so tiny that there was no way for two people to move around at a time. The Situation of the Hotel is nevertheless in a good spot in paris and just 200m from the next subway. WLAN is for free.

"Really good for young couples"
02/15/15 Clacker123 Gloucestershire, United Kingdom
Stayed for 5 nights, was very comfortable and although it was very basic it had everything we needed. The shower was in the room and everything was very confined however we wernt 'pushed for space' as the bed area was very big and nice to chill out on. The staff were very friendly, didn't use many of the hotel facilities however they do offer breakfast and hotdrinks and also a cool vending machine. The location was good for our interests, bakery practically next door, supermarket across the road, loads of cafes and restaurants around, busy at night but not noisy, and metro was only 5 minute walk. Would recommend to young couples who like to explore the city.

"Quirky and delightful"
01/31/15 CawfeeBean
Stayed one night, and very much enjoyed the efficiency and playful design of this budget hotel. The room was tiny, but packed everything in. The shower and toilet cubicles were within the room; the bed was formed of futon mattresses, and every detail is designed with fun, space efficiency and colour. We slept very well, though disturbed by rowdy people outside in early hours. We walked to Gare du Lyon after an enjoyable stay.
