"Fairfield near Dulles"

The hotel is decorated beautifully and I enjoyed the view of the Chantilly/Dulles area from my third floor room. But, when I got ready for bed, imagine my surprise when the curtain didn't close to block the lights - all that separated me from the bright shiny night was a window sheer. We stayed here for the Marine Corps Marathon. The room was clean and well kept. The staff went out of there way to help us. We had to leave for the race at 5am, and the breakfast does not open until 6:30, but they opened up the area and made access for us to eat anyway. We usually stay for 1-2 days only at one location while on vacation and already move ahead to the next place so we really have a lot experience with different chains and accomodations. The hotel stay itself was fine. I was disappointed on the length of time of pick up from the airport. I was told by another Fairfield driver (Sterling) that the Chantilly car would be by in a few minutes. 45 min later we called the hotel and were then told in order to be picked up we had to call the hotel first. The shuttle driver, who also helped us at the front desk upon check-in, was very good. The front desk person the next morning and two different drivers got us where we needed to be the next day, stored our luggage, AND came back to get us, with our luggage, and took us to the airport so we could get a bus into DC--all this after we had already checked […] out! "Comfortable but not over the top"
For a low-price hotel, it was good. The A/C wasn't as cold as it should be but was sufficient. There are several restaurants close by and the Air and Space Museum Annex is very close - a ten minute drive. The rooms are supposed to have bottle openers but ours was missing. The front desk had an extra though. My only gripe is that I asked for hypo-allergenic […] pillows and only got two. The room had five pillows and three were feather which I ended up stuffing in a drawer. I would have appreciated the desk giving me two extras when I specifically asked that night but they didn't. There are a lot of hotels in this area. The Fairfield is OK - nothing great, but not bad. The front desk guy wasn't particularly friendly, but he certainly wasn't rude or anything. Noise doesn't bother me, but if you're sensitive to it, move a few miles one way or the other. Planes on final approach for Dulles fly RIGHT over this hotel and the others […] around it. will come back...but i don't want to see the unfriendly lady receptionist (morning shift). The complimentary breakfast buffet is good. Our room was clean and nice, but no refrigirator.
